The best thing to do, guys, is just to wait until the hype dies down. During this period you can review the comments about which network is the best, you can wait to see if Apple fixes the aerial problem, etc.

Why not.

Cancelled my 32gigger this morning. also went to see one in the shop and to behonest im not as impressed with the 'feel' of it as made out by Jobs. All the bad feedback ive read hasnt really helped to win me over either. gonna wait it out for the white one to see if its more appealing than the black box :)

I went through a dip when I got my phone last week - at first its all exciting - then (even coming from an old 3G w/iOS4) it feels much the same as before, then you realise how good the extra features are (speed / screen / iOS 4).

I have a bumper on mine and TBH it feels like a work of art and there have been no signal problems.

I am still impressed every time I look at the screen.

Hello,
Anyone spoken to Tesco today and no what the current situation is with iPhone 4's?

Thanks

I suspect the reception strength is being controlled by the software.

O2 still haven't swapped my phone card (idiots), so have a chance do do a bit of bench testing.

Here we see our 3 PAYG phones

the wife's 3g (os2) - my 3g (os4) - my new 4g (os4)

haven't been too thorough i my observations, but i have noticed that the 4g is always consistently at least 1 bar lower in reception.

I am, as they say, "Staying tuned" for the first software update.

Im still amazed at how laid back Three have been the whole iPhone event. Not releasing prices till launch day, missing out on loads of potential customers. Sending random txts saying they have reserved iPhones for people. Then being super hazy on when they will be getting any in stock (so far ive heard w/c 19th July &a instore report of 9th July).
What a super weird way of doing business.

i've now got my PAC from o2 and called up 3 to port it over.
3 sent me their sim only sim card (£15pm/30 days rolling), and i cut it into micro sim size which works great.

they are of course going to send me a legit micro sim, but until then, my cut sim works fine :)

Give their customer service people a call. Then you'll understand.

I took mine back to West Quay yesterday, I held it gently resting in my left hand on the desk so the apple guy could see it, he was telling me it wasn;t a fault with the phone and even though it did it on his phone it was just a feature of the phone.
Obviously, the signal was dropping all the time he was talking and went to no service.
There were a few in the queue who started commenting about the problem and had also had the issue.
So I challenged the guy at apple to make a phone call on my phone... he couldn't within 3 mins so as everyone started laughing at him they agreed to swap the phone.
A phone that can't make calls... great!

The replacement seems slightly better, but still pretty un-usable as a phone. I'll wait till the last day of 14 days return period and if it hasn't been fixed I'll return the phone for a refund.

Hahha.

I'm just waiting my 14 days. Surely Apple are going to do something soon?!

Hey guys,

This is my first post but following this forum for quite sometime. I am coming to london for a business trip from 8th to 17th july do you guys think i can get the phone from any of the apple store or should i order it right now and send it to my sisters place, she is coming back on 29th july.

Personally I would recommend ordering it online, and having it sent to your sister's place. There is such a huge demand for the phone, with several of the carriers not having stock. And unless you want to queue (possibly daily) at one of the Apple Stores till you get one, pre-ordering it, and having it shipped to your sister's would likely be the easiest (and possibly) quickest option.....especially if they deliver on/around 14th-16th July.... you might be able to take it with you.

Called them first thing today. They're out of stock till god knows when ... They can't or won't say when we can start ordering again ...

Which is precisely why I chickened out of 3 and went back to O2. Think they would be an absolute nightmare (like Tesco).

Can I ask is anyone experiencing the green spot/haze issue when taking pictures with the iPhone 4? I just did some testing and noticed it on mine.

Regent Street stock update

As promised here is an update on stock at Apple Regent Street. They don't have any. They are doing a priority list but could be 7-10 day wait.

On a personal note, they are swapping my locked hansets for unlocked ones on Friday. So if anyone can't wait I'll sell them at cost price. Just email me for info. :):)

My contract's up next week and I was waiting until then before upgrading from my 3G in the hope the rush would have died down. Whether there'll be any phones is another matter! Now with a number of people reporting problems and waiting to hear what Apple will say, if anything, I'm toying with the idea of going onto Simplicity (O2) for a month to see what's going to happen. Any thoughts?

Which is probably why they're yet to make a profit :p

What do you get for your £15 per month from 3?

I use one of their sims in my iPad and I get the best 3G coverage of any of the networks so I might consider them for my sim free iPhone (presently using O2 Simplicity).

Well I have just picked up an iPhone 4 from Carphone Warwhouse in Watford.
I rang this am to see if they had any and was told they had 1x 32Gb in stock, but that they couldn't reserve it. I rushed there and got it. Signed up for a new Vodafone contract and gave them my PAC code to bring the number from O2.

There are still some iPhones out there you just need to hunt around.
Oh and they said they also have 1x 16Gb Vodafone one left if anyone local to Watford was after one (The Harlequin store).

I was told iphone stock would be coming today, but ive checked on the o2 site and there doesnt seem to be any difference with the stock. No idea about phones4u and carphone warehouse.
Does any one know when it wont become such a mission to get hold of an iphone

O2 Stock

Hi,

Ive been fortunate in that I managed to land my iPhnoe 4 on launch day.

However I'm sure I saw this link somewhere else no the site, but thought it might be useful to list again:

http://stock.o2.co.uk/

This seems to pretty much be up to date and I have kept an eye on it for friends who are local to me wanting a phone.

Hope it helps
