interesting hearing that 3 use orange as a 2g backup. i've already backed an orange iphone4 this week to due poor signal at my house. guess that rules 3 out then :(

Not necessarily. Three might provide 3G signal in your house better than Orange could.

The ONLY reason for going with Tesco is their 12 month contract - but in all honesty looks like I'll just go with O2 in this case, at least they get stock every 2-3 days

I'm planning to go with Tesco as my friend is able to provide me with friends and family staff discount - 10% off the handset and 10% off the monthly rental.

Does anyone know if you can extend the Tesco contract past the 12 month mark? Could I in theory keep the contract rolling?

Yeah once you go past the 12 month mark, you will keep the same T&C unless you upgrade etc

Oh how ignorant am I? I presumed you were in England and was thinking "how is that good news?!" :D

EDIT: Is that from Apple? Or...

Yep apple I'm from the south of Ireland but getting an unlocked from there :D the south doesn't even have a release date :p

I'm going to London on Thursday too. Do you think there is a way of getting an Iphone 4, even queuing up all night?

I don't like your chances. I've been there every morning since Friday and yesterday, one of the Regent Street staff told me they had only had two big deliveries of iPhones (launch day and last Friday). He said they never knew when they were going to get deliveries and had expected to get more iPhones but nothing was coming in each day. He wasn't expecting any in yesterday either (Tuesday).
There was a small queue at 9am yesterday morning too and they were all put on a "priority list", as have hundreds of people who have enquired about iPhones since launch day. It means they send you an email when an iPhone is available and they hold it for you for 24 hours, with no obligation to buy (if you don't go in, it goes to the next person on the list the next day).
Problem is, there are so many people on the list now that the expected waiting time is 7-10 days, maybe longer.
The staff said all iPhone deliveries would go to people on the list so even if there are deliveries over the next few days, there's no point queueing because they're already reserved.
How long will you be in London for?

What I do is to sell my handset just before Apple announce the new phone, get maximum cash back and then sign a new contract with the latest handset.

The advantage, beyond the obvious having the latest device is that you will always remain in warranty.

Yea I was put on a priority list on friday at about 1 or 2 o clock ... if your on the list I'd say you won't be waiting that long

Ah right, I was in store on friday when they sold out and I didn't ask about the priority list. Called back on saturday and got put on the list then. There's probably a million people in front of me. Darn

Off to medowhell shortly to get my first look at the Iphone 4 in the flesh and its safe to say i am VERY excited.

Orange this morning (11.50am 30th June)

Firstly, they are showing as 'in stock' on the website for the 32GB Black and contract .. I was able to click right through the order process.

Secondly, I phoned to check progress of the order I placed Monday morning. They confirmed that they have had stock in this morning and that I am one of the lucky ones (woo hoo!!) .. should have my phone tomorrow morning or maybe Friday!

Good luck to those still hunting!

Loopy

PS I had sent off for a micro sim to 3 thinking of giving them a go but they sent a non micro one duh .. altho the paperwork with it said micro sim! .. la la la .. suspect it's a pattern of things to come so I'm happy to try orange for now!

Ive heard that many different stories from different CS reps I dont know what to believe.
I know what my web order placed on the 24th still hasnt been dispatched, so there must be a serious queue.

Getting steadily more p*ssed off with Orange. Paid £60 deposit with promises of getting one of the 4's delivered on Tuesday (yesterday).

When I heard nothing yesterday I phoned them up to be told that "If there's nothing to tell you then there's no point phoning you".

Er.... surely good customer service demands the opposite of this statement?

Oh and as of 12:00pm Wednesday, still nothing!

Order shipped confirmation received

I've just had the "Your Apple order has been shipped" email. I ordered a 32g at 11.53 a.m on 16 June. It says "delivery on or before 6 July"

Thank God Steve Jobs doesn't work in Orange Customer Service?

"Hi so yeah you said I'd get it on tuesday yet I've not got my phone yet, why?"

"Its on its way. *hangs up*"

Help...

Posted this in another thread, but will probably get help quicker here.

Also can one of you clear something up for me.
When I finally upgrade my phone (august is when I'm eligible for early upgrade) can I keep my old handset? Or will O2 force me to give them it? I don't want to give away my 3GS.

Got a confirmation email from the local Apple Store that I can return my Orange contracted iPhone within 14 days due to the poor coverage at home. There's at least half a dozen black spots in the house, and even the front/back garden tends to kick up 'No Signal'!

That's going back tomorrow if they've got some O2 handsets in....

Yes you can keep your handset (by the time you're ready for upgrade you will have paid for it completely).

So nearly a week since launch day, and only very few o2 stores have gotten stock since.

Yes it's 'only a phone', but it is getting frustrating now.

I really thought o2 would have deliveries in for today..
