Finally after having a massive rant at the CS guy I managed to get past the initial "it will be 7-10 days, please sit tight" and managed to get a tracking number for my delivery, should be here tomorrow i hope...
Ridiculous considering i ordered early on launch day!

yep that's why I prefer UK :) but it seems even we are becoming like the US in terms of length of contract - 2 years is becoming the standard.

Unlike the US we can of course go to the www.apple.com/uk and buy an unlocked iPhone 4 (I did). They are stuck with long contracts on one network. The more 24 months becomes standard, the more there is a market for SIM free and 12 month contracts from the likes of Tesco.

Did you order a new contract or upgrade?

UGH. I rang up AppleCare on Friday evening and got the black one free (I know I'll get the white one dirtyy). Anyway just emailed the girl and she has said it's been ordered for me but not yet dispatched and she'll email me when it has been with details etc. As long as I get it free and relatively soonish I'll be happy. Although kudos to you for getting yours so quick and a non black one at that! :)

I thought they would be less durable than what they are but they surprised me :) but I still agree that £25 is way expensive for what they cover but glad ours are free! :) cool you should get it soon and as you said it is free :) I know I feel so lucky! I was so shocked they offered it me, gave me a choice of colour AND it came super quick, good times :) but yeah the bumpers totally fix the signal issue :) can I ask what network you're on mate?

Just a quick question.

I ordered a 16gb Black Iphone 4 from Apple UK about 5 days ago..it states that it will be dispatched July 16th 2010, which is fine.

Now i am right in thinking that obviously i was too late for the first batch, and that i am definitely receiving my iphone in around 2 1/2 weeks time, correct?

It won't get to July 16th and they tell me i have to wait even longer will they? Cause they've taken £499 from my bank account already and i'll be pissed if i have to wait even longer then the date quoted.

You will receive it one day after the dispatch normally :) so yeah that's right. they take it out to check it's there, they put it back in about when it's been dispatched and then they take it out again :)

OK...Slightly odd that...so their holding onto my money at the moment? haha

So everyone here has different dispatch dates? Are they being sent out weekly then? I thought they'll be all sold out for like a month or something..thats why i was a bit surprised that when i ordered it, i only had to wait 20 days.

yap that's apple for ya ;) these are the guys who charge £15 for a USB sync cable  yeah it looks as if I'm hearing lots of dates. I'm not sure but I would guess they're just trying to get em all out there as fast as they can to make more money lol. Best bet is to wait for the dispatch email and then you will get more accurate info on delivery :)

I'm on O2. Central London. I'll be honest, I don't get bad signal and the signal loss problem isn't a huge issue for me (I hold my phone the correct way and I never actually lose signal completely). But I wanted a bumper from the get go and would have paid £25 but my BF told me some people had been getting free bumpers from AppleCare and suggested I try my luck. Maybe it's the cute clueless girl voice or the good timing but they offered me the bumper and the choice of colours. Anyway it saved me £25 so I am more than happy now!

I bought my iphone on the release date and decided to switch from O2 to Orange, big mistake, haven't had a decent signal since. So, phoned apple today and they will take it back and cancel my contact, however now I need to wait until another iphone comes into stock!!!

Am on the reserve list but have no idea how long I'll have to wait, any idea's??? Need to return my existing phone by 8th July, will then have no phone as selling my old 3G!!!

Whilst on orange I took advantage of the mobile dongle at £5/month for 500mb, only available to orange customer, I wonder if I will need to return it, I hope not.

Same thing happened to me - just walked out of the Apple Store with a new O2 SIM and iPhone though. Score!

Turns out they hold a few handsets back for replacements etc.
