Well I tried the O2 upgrade line about 5 mins ago, was told none in stock, try my local store. After informing the lady it's a 90 minute round trip to my 'local' store, she said that wasn't her problem and that was that!

Obviously 8 years loyalty doesn't get you far or someone friendly on the phone

I have been following this thread from the early days but have never posted before. I have been having continuous phonecalls from CPW for the past couple of days and they are taking orders for delivery next week via phone. I hadnt heard anything from O2's stock checker email system but have just rang O2 on the off chance and they do have stock in for immediate delivery . Mine is now on its way, and I dont have to part with my cash just yet as the cost of the phone has gone on next months bill

Thanks for the info-I just ordered my 32 GB from O2 upgrades @ 1pm today. They had none at my local store or at Apple so it's great that I'll get it tomorrow or Sat-DHL permitting.

'Order Being Readied For Dispatch'

Apparently it takes Orange 144 hours + to take a box off a shelf... or maybe they lied to their customers to get orders in.

Hopefully this will hit mainsteam media soon, there are a LOT of people in the same position.

What's really annoying is that orange wont give us any update. The CS reps all say different things. We are just left in the dark, no updates, no idea when we can expect a delivery.
Shocking service.

I didnt get told I'd get a text but I got both an email and a text at the same time.

Just out of interest, those that have managed to get one thru the upgrade line do u currently have a iphone contract of some sort?

As soon as the person i spoke to saw i had been on iphone contracts for 2 years she said ill get one order and sorted for u straight away.

I have a iphone contract - I just said when I rang up that CPW were mithering me to upgrade through them but that I would rather deal direct so was just enquiring whether they had had any more stock in and he said yes we have ltd stock availability and took it from there.

I'm on an iPhone 3G, £35/month, have been since July/August 2008, and have been eligible for an upgrade since February, was holding out in the hope they might let me upgrade 6 months late... but no.

How are you guys being able to order them?

As soon as I got through to the upgrades line I said 'Hi, I would like to upgrade to an iPhone 4 please", she said "sorry, we're out of stock, try your local store"... to which I replied "well I don't have a local store, it's a 90 minute round trip to the nearest, and I don't have the time outside of work to go".... to which she replied "well that's not my problem".... end of call.

Didn't ask me for details or anything.. I rang 202 at 12:58.

Rang O2 yesterday to downgrade my line rental. Came off the phone having upgraded 6 months early.

As a 'gold priority' customer (I think that means my contract is £45/month), I can upgrade 3 months early and buy out the remaining 3 months for £20/month.

New iPhone 4 is £119 for 16Gb version with the £40/month 18 month tariff.

Can sell my 32Gb 3GS to O2 for £240 or online to one of the recycling companies for £282.

Net gain £100, contract from £45 to £40 (I didn't need all those minutes).

In stock reserved for upgrading customers, just got an text saying out for delivery!

Pretty excited.

Arrived today as promised and before lunchtime too! Just syncing and activating now. I guess unboxing pics are old news but took a few and can upload if any interest.

BRIEF INITIAL IMPRESSIONS:
-It is dense.
-Feels incredibly well put together.
-The screen is remarkable, I cannot see pixels, even up close. Some had reported that the display looks almost right on the surface thanks to the LCD being molded to the glass- I can't say that it looks any 'closer' to the surface at first glance.
-On the back, unlike the 3GS, it doesn't say 16Gb or 32Gb.

Hurry up and activate!...

been checking up every day on the this thread so i thought it was time i registed.

any way back to why im here,

just rang three to preorder the iphone 4. its now been pushed back to the 27th july(19th july is the really preorder date). also i ve got to pay £129 instead of £99 because im not in the last month on my contract. they didnt say advertise that before.

I dialled the upgrade number 0800 1313136, paid the early upgrade fee & had the 4 32GB-that was done & dusted at 1pm today. Have had the emails with tracking number but no text yet at 3.10pm. Hopefully I'll get it soon...?
