I tried a PAYG 3 sim and I only get 3 bars on 2G but get full bars on 3G? 2G is usually better than 3G on other Networks.

Yeah it runs the O2 network. I'm just curious to see how fast 3 really is! :D

Ok heres what I'm with 3. I use a micro sim card (pay monthly) on 3 so as far as you want to use your phone in the Uk it will be fine. Most of the time it will not loose no more than one or two bars. But actually outside Uk...(hollidays)....you can clearly froget 3....really slow.

To be honest in the UK its quite fast but because I live in london near to the centre I most of time find a public wifi spot. So I most of the time I don't have to use the 3g.

But I can tell you now that is not that fast as a wifi spot........But actually better than T-mobile....

Surely they have roaming partners though. I'm planning to go with Vodafone. Anything wrong with them?

Voafone is quite good even outside Uk. I know that there are vodafone services in france and germany.... Vodafone is fine...but you can lose signal depending on where you live. Voafone doesn't really cover all of the uk. If you live in leicester or Nothingham good luck finding full signals....:D
But in the whole its a good network carrier..

Three is a 99% 3G network i believe, it is their flagship thing.

I wounder what will happen when 4g takes off

Vodafone is just average in everything i think.

They do have partners in like every major country.

edit: i dont have a laptop to tether xD but i still wouldn't do it cos there is a data limit... :( If i could get a nice data limit which lasts me the whole month without being cautious...

I'm actually getting intrigued by Three. I've always considered them to be Sub-par (possibly because i've only had experience with them when they were 3G only and had unreliable reception at best.)

It's interesting that they fall back on Orange (never had any trouble with them) for Edge/GPRS because i'm sure they used to be pure 3G, i'm glad they've changed this. The fact that their 3G speeds are the fastest AND have free tethering has me thinking about switching from O2.
Anyone have any experiences with Three in Cardiff/Newport?

BGR states Apple stores may be opening early for a second launch, Think this will be true for the UK? Still need to get my hands on one.

One last thing, can someone clarify that we can not get an iPhone 4 on PayG O2? I was hoping to pop in to the O2 shop to pick one up when they had stock, but I need it on PayG.

u can get it on PAYGO (lol) iphone with any carrier that said they take iphone so o2 is good to go.

You either need to go in store and ask for a pre pay o2 iphone which is £480 16gb
in apple store for sure, dunno about o2

Someone else in the same position as us called them- I suggest
you do too. Thanks goes to that member, I can't remember his her name, but look at second last page of 2nd July prepared to ship thread.

Call them up and see what they say.

Well, I just rang TNT CS, and the girl said that my package was still on schedule for delivery tomorrow ...... let's hope she's correct.

Tesco Mobile

Little update:
Got an e-mail yesterday saying that they are expecting stock tomorrow. I went in earlier today and asked the guy about it and he said that he was expecting to see stock tomorrow. I also asked if I could use VISA Electron to pay the contract and he said yeah. So Direct Debit is not needed.
This will be my first ever contract phone so im not totally sure what I need to bring. Passport, Drivers License, Money, Bank card, Bank statement. Is that all I need?
Thanks :)

Direct Debit will probably be required for the monthly charges otherwise you will have to £2.50 extra per month (if O2), it may also lower your chances of passing the credit check.
