What are your thoughts on T-Mobile? I really want an iPhone 4 and I cannot decide which network to go for. Cost isn't a major issue, I just want a fast/reliable/well-covered network that doesn't drop calls constantly like O2.
I loved O2's customer service but their network was terrible. Calls would often go directly to voicemail, SMSs would go undelivered our I wouldn't receive them.
Switched to T-Mobile PAYG, and have unlimited internet for a £10 top-up. All the problems that I had with O2 have disappeared.

I'm really looking forward to getting an iPhone4 but would not sign a contract of any length with O2.

Direct Debit will probably be required for the monthly charges otherwise you will have to £2.50 extra per month (if O2), it may also lower your chances of passing the credit check.
Interesting. How do you know i'd have to pay £2.50 extra a month? And honestly, I don't have a clue what a credit check is, is it important?
I was supposed to get a Debit Card a wee while ago but the lady said to come back when I get my Acceptance letter for university and she'll just give me a Student Account.
If there seems to be too much trouble with using an VISA Electron card then i'll just go to the bank and start up a Direct Debit account dedicated to this contract.

What's the general feeling about Tesco Mobile?? After been offered S*!t all from T-Mobile I'm considering one of their 12 month contracts but I hear they use the O2 network as the backbone for theirs, which is a huge concern for me......

I spend most of my time in rural areas so I'm looking for a network that performs well in that kind of environment.

I'm seriously considering Vodafone and T-Mobile, but I'm concerned at the lack of visual voicemail, unlocking and the network restriction on VOIP.

Please share your thoughts, experiences and opinions on this - I'm desperate! :D

Everyone has likes and dislikes with regards to networks. I live in a London suburb and T-Mobile are the only network that offer a usable 3G signal inside my house. However if I go to visit my parents who live in rural Co.Down then I don't get a signal with T-Mobile. Also I only have to walk 20 mins from my house and the T-Mobile signal goes to 1 or 2 bars of 2G.

All networks have weak signal areas but at least in my case it sort of comes down to a choice between a network that offers great signal at home but not so good when I am outside a city. Or a network that can only offer me a 2g signal at home but 3G in other areas and some sort of signal in most of the UK.

T-Mobile's customer service used to be great, however its now been sent overseas and I don't find their overseas staff as helpful as the UK staff used to be.

Orange's customer service in the past at least in my experience has been challenging. However once I switched to an iPhone plan it seams that every time I contact them I get to speak to a dedicated iPhone customer service team who so far have been very helpful.

I know that with T-Moble and Orange merging the new company should have a larger coverage area. However it does not mean that all cell-towers from both of the current networks will be kept. I mean if Orange and T-Mobile both have towers covering the same area they are not going to keep both. As a result some people who have great T-Mobile coverage now but just ok Orange coverage or the other way round are going to experience a weaker signal.

Little update:
Got an e-mail yesterday saying that they are expecting stock tomorrow. I went in earlier today and asked the guy about it and he said that he was expecting to see stock tomorrow. I also asked if I could use VISA Electron to pay the contract and he said yeah. So Direct Debit is not needed.
This will be my first ever contract phone so im not totally sure what I need to bring. Passport, Drivers License, Money, Bank card, Bank statement. Is that all I need?
Thanks :)

Don't suppose they gave you any idea of what time they'd start selling them tomorrow? I'm tempted to go down to my Tesco Extra for 9am but if they are having the stock delivered tomorrow they may not necessarily receive the delivery til later in the day.

The Tesco Mobile "Store" opens at 10am I think, or at thats when it opens in my local store.

Well the other day i walked into Tesco and got my name put down on the Iphone priority list which i am about 70th and not many above me want 32GB. So how does it work is it first come first severed OR will they work there way down the list when they have the phones in ?

Anybody know ?

yep thats pretty much what you need....

Anybody got news from orange? Please tell me if they do"!"

I'm sending mine back to them tomorrow as the Three package looks so much better. To be honest with you if you're not getting anywhere with them I'd cancel (I think I remember that you had already ordered?!)

All this gets so frustrating due to stock let alone all the problems with Customer Services (I use the term 'service' lightly!)

Unlimited internet

Iv just got my new tariff details from o2 come through the post. Iv gone from a £45 iphone 3gs tariff with unlimited internet and data to £65 iphone 4 tariff which is meant to have 1gb of internet and data, but my new tariff details show it as having unlimited.

Anyone else noticed this? i'm not complaining as i'm not sure 1gb is enough anyway.

Yeah I received the Tesco email also.

Stewieeatworld what Tesco was it you went into?

I was at the one in Edinburgh today. He didn't know they were getting any in tomorrow but I mentioned the email I received and he said that would be the case then.
I'm not sure what time to go at tbh. He said it opened at 8am but I don't know if he meant the phone store or just the store in general. I don't want to get there too early (or too late mind you). Does anyone have any experience of when tesco phone stores receive their deliveries?

Strange aswel because when I asked him if it was a first come first serve basis he said yes but I put my name on a list a few weeks back?

I assume you went to the US Apple Store .... other than that, I can't help you, other than to suggest you ring Apple. I would take a guess that most in this shipment are coming with TNT, so hopefully yours will be amongst them.

I just upgraded to an iPhone 4 on Three. I'd received the text saying that my phone was reserved and that they would contact me, but as I had not heard anything I gave them a ring and they processed my upgrade.

Got the same deal as they announced on their website so they don't seem to be offering anything different for existing customers.

The point of this post is that if you've received the text and they still haven't called you (and you just can't wait!) then give them a call (333) and they'll upgrade you.

Apple store belfast: went on priority list on friday (25th? i can't remember) and got the confirmation email. Was speaking to a friend who works in the apple store and he said the waiting list has hundreds of people on it, so I'll be waiting a while.

I'm still not clear if they're assign some stock to priority lists and sell the rest to walk ins? Is it still possible to walk in and buy an iphone from an apple store? (stock permitting obvs)

If there seems to be too much trouble with using an VISA Electron card then i'll just go to the bank and start up a Direct Debit account dedicated to this contract.

a visa electron is a debit card (it's just a special type of debit card where it will not allow you to go into the red (below zero)), and the way to think of it is 'a current account but for young people' so it doesnt come with a cheque book and you cant have an overdraft as that would be a form of credit but you can have recuring payments from it.

and a credit check is just a way they check you havent got any absurd debts, ect. and it is very important as if you dont pass then you cant have a contract or they will ask you to pay a very high refundable deposit up front or you just have to buy on payngo stuff that reduces the risk to them, things that reduce you pass rate is not having any (bad but not always) debts, not missing bill dates, not having any money, a criminal record, and other general bad stuff.

the extra £2.50 is if you were to pay by cash or cheque every month by getting a bill and going and paying it at the shop, but as I said a visa electron is a debit card and I am 99.99999% sure you can have direct debits from it

Is there any information about Birmingham apple store stock?

I've been lurking on these board since the iPhone 4 was announced at WWDC. I thought that I would finally post as like many others I have been on a priority list for my iPhone for over a week now and can relate to the frustration caused by the lack of information. I rang both Apple store Birmingham and Solihull today, neither had any stock and neither had received any since the launch day. Although the guy from the Birmingham store was optimistic about stock arriving this week.

What I find most annoying is that most service providers have received stock this week, but those who choose to buy direct from Apple are stuck waiting with zero information. If anybody else has anymore information on store availability in UK it would be much appreciated.

True.

Can you buy 2 phones even if you've reserved only one?

I haven't got an email from tesco :( and i did register my interest :(

Dw, it doesn't say much. Just try heading down to your nearest store in the morning as it suggests that the new stock will be in store only (not that that's a bad thing after the hell we all suffered with Tesco Mobile telesales).
