Hey all, sorry I posted then dissapeared on a cliffhanger but I found it last minute before I had to go out.

The refresh broke everything, the page dissapeared and the shopping basket link broke and upon clicking it all dissapeared. The woman doing the advice chat thing said she never saw it on her end but was due to be briefed soon anyway- said it was probably a mix up on the engineers end.

The pricing seemed similar to the 3gs, for the equivelent of my 35 a month O2 tarriff I would have had to pay 89 for the handset and 35 a month for 600 mins, unlimited text, 1gb data. I asked about going over but honestly cannot remember what she said or if it'd even be relevant as it may change, she had not been briefed. something like i'd be notified before they start charging for further use? that may be fiction though, my memory is bad.

@ kopite19, Boblister & flipshot

Thanks for your input, I pretty much thought it'd be a long shot, but, hey, anything is worth a go!! I'm not up for upgrade 'til 03/11, but my little ol Nokia 6300 won't last that long. Guess I'll have to sharpen my scissors and activate with my old SIM

My guess is that they are just doing daily maintenance on the pages now and that unfortunately no tariffs for the iphone 4 :(

When you pre order do you pay then or when you collect.
Also if you do pre order are you guaranteed an iPhone

Thanks :D

iPhoned 02 and they said pre order you mightnt get one the first day but when the 2nd batch arrives. Basically if someone orders 10 iphones on the first day and your the 11th in line you wont get one. But the next batch of 10 iphones they get they will keep one for you I think.

Orange site is down for "maintenance"...

They may be updating their iPhone section...

No the shop bit is back up now but most of the other pages including the iphone section is down so it looks likely to be "Daily maintenance"

Go do this poll please :D, I want to see how many of us will actually be effected by the 500mb cap

highly doubt it unless another network does unlimited and becomes very popular due too it, then I could see o2 maybe shifting back but highly doubt it, but it would be like 6/7 months down the line if it happened.

Well that sucks, maybe if I annoy the in store rep the day of my upgrade I can get some kind of better deal.

Store rep won't be able to do anything, only way you could get extra data on our system at CPW is if you paid £10 per month extra for 500mb

For the last few months I have been on the £25 Simplicity for iPhone rolling monthly deal on my 3G. Obviously since skipping the 3GS I am eligible for an upgrade to the 4 but I will probably PAYG and lock in the simplicity deal for 12 months, dropping the monthly cost to £20 and hopefully preserving my lifetime unlimited internet.

I just feel bad about not using my upgrade entitlement, that past year of suffering, telling myself to hold off on the 3GS...

What I really don't get is why the cap doesn't scale with the contract?
Ok I understand having the lowest/cheapest contract capped at 500mb
but by the time we hit the £80/£90 region it should have scaled to something like 5GB/unlimited.

Just had a thought that Orange site goes down for maintenance everyday so its likely to be nothing :(

I'm getting attacked on the O2 forum! "We must protect our faceless multibillion dollar coroporation for giving us crappy tariffs!"

No wonder they can get away with it

EDIT: They've gone and deleted the thread I made now! At least I know it was read by actual human beings this time, though. Seriously, O2's customer service is worse than the tariffs.

hopefully we'll have more info from other providers today.. rumour has it, Orange is also going to follow in O2's data capping footsteps..

seems like we're all going to be shafted
