This is good to know because I also changed my email. I didn’t realize I had my alternate email still attached to my account until after I placed my order. Regardless, I have all of my order information.
Just chatted with Verizon CS. They said that initially everyone will be charged, but once the device is activated on Verizon then you’ll get a credit on the following monthly bill.
I'm about 99% sure the same thing happened with my last [early] pre-order, directly through Verizon, just like you said, I had it in hand on the "ship date"

When the phones appear on your account t just do a pay off on the devices. Under Account /Devices/Agreemeents.
I would just wait until you pay your first month then pay it all off. In past years there were many horror stories of orders cancelled while trying to make changes.
So looks like I need to wait till I receive the phones then. I dont like no payments.
Congrats! Very lucky. I woke up late once again lol. Estimated 11/15 for me but I'm betting it comes a little earlier like my 7 Plus did last year.

We pay top dollar for our VZW plans, but man Verizon knows how to come through.
The fact that they opened the flood gates about 10 minutes early is awesome. This costs them nothing to do, but yet will keep all of us customers loyal and if anything attract new ones.
I’ll gladly pay $8 more a month for my bill ( compared to ATT/T-MOBILE) if it means I can easily upgrade to the latest iPhone each year and have an effortless preorder experience.

Soon as their site loaded ( for a lot of them ) it was already showing 3-5 weeks out.

Sign up for the FEDEX app where they allow you to make changes to your deliveries. I can usually have my deliveries left inside my enclosed porched using that method. Because it's over a 30 minute drive to the FEDEX office from my house. If I have to do that much driving, well there goes free shipping.
Does this mean it's impossible to resell the Verizon iPhones without opening the box? And it will remain as a device in your Verizon account?
Correct, you don't have to open it. Once it's fully paid the line will contac to appear on your account until it's removed/added to another account.

I gave Verizon a call just to make sure all was good with my order. I was told as long as you got the confirmation email, everything is fine. That includes getting to pre-order early, I specifically asked. lol
I was also told if the order went through quickly, the given delivery date should be accurate. For those wondering if it’s too good to be true.

Finally back awake, coffee in hand. I awoke a few minutes before my alarm went off at 15 minutes prior to H-hour. Did not wake the wife (score brownie points). I opened up my iPad and started a cycle through the Verizon app, Apple Store app, and Verizon website. All with spinning wheels! I then went upstairs to try my wired Ethernet computer, internet out. Thanks a lot Comcast. Well, there was a shifty guy that knocked on my door last night to try and sell me ATT home service. Sabotage?
Anyway, fired up the iPhone 6 hotspot, and determined the internet was not broken yet, and managed to click through the Verizon app just as the time arrived. Got my confirmation, and went back to bed.
This morning cable and internet working fine. Email confirms 11/3 delivery. Actually a bit surprised that it’s still only 5-6 week delivery date. All the dire predicting made me think it would be next year for the daytime ordering today. People can still get them prior to Christmas.
