yeah - that's what I thought re two phones. And since I realized she didn't know what she was talking about, I didn't want to trust that she would successfully cancel one of the orders without jazzing up the whole thing so I just told her to leave it alone. Now that I'm sure I'm getting two different color phones, I wish I could open both up to compare...but don't want to pay the restocking fee.
Hey everyone - I'm in a bit of bind. I have a reservation with Apple since I couldn't get through last night and got an email this morning to order through Apple. Since I couldn't get through last night, I ordered it through Verizon. Problem is, my phone is gonna get shipped to my parent's house in new york.
Anyways, I called verizon this morning to change the address and they said I can't change the address for preorders and would need to cancel the order and place it again.
I can't check the delivery date for the reservation since there's an order in place for it (through verizon)
My question is this: Do you guys think I should just cancel the verizon preorder and take my chance with apple's reservation and hope it gets delivered on 11/3? or should I just hit up fedex the moment my phone ships to reroute the delivery?
I know some people were able to get verizon to change the address but I called and chatted online and both reps said the same thing: cancel the order and order it again.

I just got my address changed via the Verizon Chat with a guarantee that the delivery date would stay the same.
Good call they probably would have cancelled the entire thing and reordered or something lol
That’s what I’m thinking too. I can’t remember what it said last year but it delivered day 1.
Yup - I tried that. Both called them and chatted. Both reps said I will have to get my order cancelled and then reorder the phone.
Verizon rocks. I knew the app would be the way to go. People were able to order early, no crashes, AND they made sure they had enough stock. I see many were able to get more than one even with no issues! Love it. Really happy for everyone who was able to get launch day delivery. Hope this holds up for next year! I’ll be ready!
That's strange. I had been told that with previous orders but they let me do it this time.
Yeah. You can either swap the sim cards, or go to the website and there's a tool to swap phone numbers between active devices on your account. The latter is probably better.
Contact Verizon the moment your phone ships and have them update the delivery address via FedEx. I did this with my 6S and it worked great.
In the past, they’ve shipped using FedEx and it will need to be signed for.
Sounds good. I'll give that a shot then. No idea if the apple reservation is gonna have an 11/3 delivery date and don't wanna risk it haha
Worth noting you can call them now and have them add a ticket to the account to do this automatically when it ships, but you'd still want to call them to confirm once that happens!
Yea I was leaning towards using the Apple app, but it didn’t go live until like 12:06 for me so I jumped on Verizon at 12:00 and was done and had an email by 12:02. Super simple. I even got another X for my girlfriend at 12:26 with 11/3 delivery.
Yea i tried having them put in a note as well. They kept saying they'll have to cancel the order. I'll give it another shot tonight.
Would you happen to know how long it takes for them to update the status? All reps said that since it's still in processing and is not ready to ship, they can't change anything.
I wouldn't trust this.... Tried to changed my delivery address for 4s launch, phone didn't come until the following Monday. Last year, they messed up when they took my order and when I called to have it changed, they said no problem, won't affect delivery date. UPS ended up not delivering because the address was never corrected and sent it back to Verizon. Didn't get my phone until 2 weeks later after MUCH awfulness with UPS.
I've been talking to a few reps today and they have said that the only time when submitting a ticket to change the address cancels the order and starts a new one is when it is easier to do--phones that are in stock and can be shipped right away. Since the X won't ship until next week sometime, if you request the ticket before it ships, they will see the ticket request and then change the address to the new one. This morning I changed the address to where it is going to be shipped by requesting a ticket with my new address so I should be getting it 11/03 at my address I'm at now. I'll have to see once it ships and where it is heading!
