I'm such an idiot. The app shows the overall cost of the device in the Cost option when you check an order and I balked thinking I must have misread in the morning. The initial receipt was correct and so I had to reorder. Went from ""Shipping by Nov 15" Shipping around Dec 1."

Trash.

I talked to a CSR to see if I could get mine switched to a payment plan (wasn't an option when I pre-ordered) and was told to call back as soon as I activated my phone to see if they can do a credit/rebill so I wouldn't lose my pre-order

Last year, the 2nd line on my account was eligible for upgrade (it was not being used) but mine was not out of contract yet. I got the 7 Plus on an installment plan with the 2nd line. When the phone was delivered, Verizon put my phone number on the 7 Plus for me over the phone but they kept the installment agreement on the 2nd line. Once my particular line's contract ran out, they did in fact move the installment plan over to my line and let me cancel that 2nd line since it was out of contract originally.

I'm not sure if they have changed something since last year or maybe this wouldn't apply since that person ordered the X as a new line of service. They can move installment plans from one line to another, I guess given the state of the particular lines.
Very good to know. I’ll go into the store to check if they can do that for me too. The rep I spoke with last night told me it wasn’t possible. I’m hoping you’re right from your experience! Thanks again!
 
Just looked up the location number (0862001) for my order and my phone will be coming from Memphis, TN. (about a 6hr drive) :) If Apple didn't put the brakes on a set release day, (for the carriers) I would probably get my phone sooner than 11/3.
 
Just called and got the "upgrade penalty" waived. They get all defensive and I asked for a supervisor because I asked them why are they penalizing me for upgrading. Don't they want me to stay with them?
what is the upgrade penalty? I need to see if i was charged it.... I believe I paid taxes and activation.
 
heres a good one for you guys..... 2 things

1. I paid in full on the vz site, when i was preordering i tried to do the trade in but it said "ineligible plan" which makes no sense, probably bc i wasnt on a payment plan, but anyway i said screw it bc i didnt want my order to get messed up so i canceled that and went ahead and bought the phone. However, i still want to do the trade in. I thought the trade in took difference off your total bill. I have an iphone 6, 136 credit allowed. Once my X ships will they still give me the trade in value?

2. I forgot on my verizon up thing i have 1 reward to use and forgot to use it before yesterday. I was going to select the "10 device dollars" if i select that reward now will they credit me the difference?

I know some of you might say talk to a rep, but im not trying to do anything until i know the X has shipped, i dont trust them on the other line. I'm waiting to call and get rid of the upgrade fee too

i think theres a way to look up the tracking number by reference #. I have ny rangers season tickets and when i want to know when the hard tickets have been shipped i search by reference, for that i use my account number and it shows up. I do this bc MSG takes forever to update things.

Ive never tried it for this type of thing, but cant hurt to check, im on mobile so ill try it when i get home
 
Here's my entire chat with an Apple rep. Looks like I will have to wait it out until pick up.

  • Apple: I show that the phone was ordered to be paid in full. If you wanted monthly payments you would need to cancel and reorder through Verizon or the iPhone upgrade program.

    Me: I'm pretty sure I clicked for Verizon device payment. Is that option available through the Apple website?

    A: The only one we have is the upgrade program you would need to order phone through Verizon for their monthly payments.

    M: So, if you order through Apple, it is impossible to pay through Verizon, correct?

    A: Yeah there are more options at the apple store but online that is correct.

    M: Is there a way I can change the method of payment at pickup?

    A: I know I can’t change it but they may be able to. You may want to try contacting the Apple Store directly to see if they can do that.

    M: Will payment go through when the order is shipped? If that's the case, then it cannot be changed, I'm assuming.

    A: If it is delivered to your home its charged when it ships if its in store pick up its when you pick the item up.

    M: Got it. Thank you for your time.

    A: I do want to make sure that we have taken care of everything that we can today. Do you have any other questions about your order, or anything else I can help you with today?

    M: I'm finished. Although one recommendation would be to highlight on the checkout page that carrier device payments can only be acquired through ordering with the carrier.

That was EXACTLY what I was thinking. But, I think it's outside of the manufacturer rep's "area of expertise" for them to confirm anything I suggest, as you can tell by the conversation I had. I believe our best bet is to just ask when we pick it up. Luckily, I don't mind paying for it in full, if it need be.
 
So ladies and gentlemen, onboard the Royal Caribbean cruise. The internet speeds are around 5mps with a ping of around 200. Anyway, purchased a 4 device plan, and at 2:45 EST in the middle of the Caribbean, I had my iPad Pro working the Apple Store app, and the computer terminal in the Internet cafe refreshing the Apple.com site. My wife was working the Verizon app using my iPhone 6, and another terminator nail working Verizonwireless.com. Remember, I have 3 lines on my account, an additional 2 that I activated a week ago just to give me options. Will cancel them later. At around 2:52 am, she yelled at me that the Verzin app had gone live. I threw her my iPad Pro to take over the Apple store app, whilst I went to work on the Verizon app. 2 mins later I had successfully pre-ordered a Silver Iphone X 256gb with Nov 3rd delivery. I was so stunned that I told her to continue working the apple app and I think I was in denial that it was so easy, I knew I needed to keep working. Then the Verizon website went live, so I went ahead and ordered another iPhone silver 256gb on the website for the 3rd line. The website was very slow, but at around 3:10 I had my 2nd phone with a Nov 3rd delivery. Finally, at around 3:10 the Apple.com site went live and I went ahead ordering a phone for my current primary line. However, at this point, shipping 2-5 weeks out, and no in-store pick-up availability, so I pulled the plug and bailed.

At this point, I finally went to check my e-mails, and the two iPhone confirms for what I just ordered had confirmation e-mails, and in addition, seeing I had also put myself on the list for the Verizon authorized dealer in New York to order for me, I then had an e-mail from Verizon confirming his order also for a Nov 3rd in store pick-up. So now it looks like I have 3 phones coming my way on Nov 3rd. A part of me still thinks that Verizon screwed up somehow, but if not, I am going to try sell the extra 2 phones on e-bay for a profit that may help finance the cost of the phone.
