Can someone please explain how my order for a 2x2.8 Mac Pro with the Nvidia 8800GT (placed on January 8th when thy were announced) has gone:

from...
Prepared for shipment
Estimated Shipping: 12 Feb, 2008
Estimated Delivery: 19 Feb, 2008

to...
Not yet shipped
Estimated Shipping: 25 Mar, 2008
Estimated Delivery: 03 Apr, 2008

This is completely UNACCEPTABLE.

A typical knee-jerk reaction would be to cancel it and stick two fingers up at Apple, but I'm better than that - I'll give them a call tomorrow morning and beat them up verbally over the phone, demand they initiate shipment to me that day, and that they throw in Aperture 2.0 just as a goodwill gesture.

I simply cannot wait 51 MORE DAYS for my order when everybody else - especially those of you who ordered AFTER I did - are getting theirs within the next couple of days.

What clown at Apple has done this? I am incredibly annoyed.

When did you order it! That's pretty bad! Hope it doesn't happen to me.

BirdInTheCity,

I think yours and mine got to FedEx at the same time. I'm in northern NJ, and here's my last update:

Feb 9, 2008

11:25 AM Departed FedEx location BLOOMINGTON, CA
6:23 AM Arrived at FedEx location BLOOMINGTON, CA
1:50 AM Left origin ANAHEIM, CA

It originally said the next expected update was Feb. 11, but that didn't happen. So yours either missed the truck, or didn't get scanned somehow. I'll hope the later, for your sanity.

Woa! Yea, that sucks. Sorry to hear that Darkpaw. I'm sure they can get it sorted out... what a bummer!

The wait is certainly a trying one

I'm trying to be patient, and perhaps I was ignorant to think that it would be here sooner, but I ordered mine on the 15th of January. I had assumed that the expected delivery date was exaggerated for the sake of a "safety net". Apparently I was very wrong, or they are really taking advantage of that said safety net due to unforeseen problems on their end. My worry is that there are problems: A simple solution they might take in the future; If the product doesn't exist, don't offer to sell it. It is now to the point, that I'd say its safe to bet that it wont be here until the last possible minute.

It's pretty sad that I received my monitor just days after the order, yet I wont receive my computer until the return-policy times out on my monitor. I sure hope there's no dead pixels!

Here's hoping for tomorrow (as I have every day since the order was placed now).

Even though they don't have to, since I should have (as we all should have) had the common sense to know that when it says 5-6 weeks, it means it literally, it sure would be nice to get a little something extra for all this patience, anything at all really... If anyone here finds out that if you call and bitch they throw you a final-cut discount or something, for the love of God let me know.

ON A SIDE NOTE:
I just went to the apple store and configured another identical Mac Pro, and it now says "7-10 business days". This would be in line with when mine is coming anyhow, so no point in re-ordering, but I just thought it was worth noting in case it hadn't been pointed out already.

Doh! wow, I really hope it made that truck. Especially considering that this is a 3-day weekend. I just called their ground-shipping 1-800 number and the guy gave me the typical run-around: ("Everything is fine and it should still be arriving on time. The tracking online is sometimes unreliable"). I'll definitely give them the benefit of the doubt until Thursday. After that, I'm gonna unleash the wrath of my impatience. ;-)

This is a Bit Nutts

Mine said "not yet shipped" all day but changed to "Prepared for Shipment" at some point over the last 2-3 hours.

I originally ordered 1/16.

I think apple really screwed up on all our orders. Clearly it is not going as planned an it probably is a bit hectic over seas and in cupertino. You
said you ordered the 16th I ordered the 17th and still have not received an "Prepared for Shipment" status update. This is crazy anyway let me know if your willing to give out an Order # so i can call and confront apple as well as possibly bumping up my order.

Order details.

8th of January on the day they were announced.

This really does suck major a$$. I've already waited 6 weeks for it, and now I may have to wait seven weeks more?!

Ol' Mr. Jobs will be getting a very stern email from me... when I find out his email address...

I'm pretty sure its sjobs@apple.com

Its more of a marketing thing though as i'm sure he does not personally read it. You should call apple right away and get that fixed.

I'm pretty sure it's the 500 gig drives. Most people who's orders have not shipped ordered with the 500 gig drives. I've had people who ordered after me with the 320s who've had theirs ship (and I just ordered on the 6th of this month.)

I'm now in "Prepared for Shipment" phase as of this afternoon - I have both a 320 & a 500...
Ordered Jan 20.

....just got the shipped e-mail

Ordered Jan 16 with a 500gb drive, if all go well it should be here tomorrow when I wake up.

Should be here tomorrow

Originally my Mac Pro was supposed to ship tomorrow but it shipped last Friday. I've been checking the status of my Mac Pro (3.0GHz, 320GB, 8800 GT) and it is now in Salt Lake City. I live in Provo. It is 45 minutes away:D. I've got 8GB (4x2GB) RAM from OWC to put in and two 500GB drives to add to it.

Finally! Ordered Jan 11, This appeared about 6 pm CST Feb. 12

Mine just shipped today like 2-3 hours ago. Status changed to prepared for shipment this morning. I ordered Feb 7th, but I also had a 2600XT powered Mac Pro that I returned the 26th of Jan, so I too have been waiting a while!

2.8 8 core, 500gb drive, and an 8800gt. ordered feb 9, prepared to ship feb 12.

O M F G!!! I have order envy. Why are some of our Jan orders still not even prepped??? Has anyone figured it out? It's no longer the video card, the 500 gb drive or anything else we thought delaying it.

Thrillz3,

Have you had any additional updates on your UPS tracking info? I still haven't seen any updates to mine... for all I know, it could still be in California :-(

The new wait has begun...

Just this evening I checked & am "Prepared for Shipment".

Sometimes I worry about what a complete geek I am - I actually got a little tingle down my spine at the thought that a big box of wires was coming my way.

There's got to be some bottleneck in the network of manufacturing, status updating & the like. I'm fairly convinced that barring credit card processing glitches there are more MPs ready to go than have been alerted.

At any rate, had I not been obsessing about this (which I'm tired of, frankly... but just watch me continue to obsess - sheesh) and not following the forums, I doubt I'd have known any better. Which leads me to wonder if ignorance would've really been bliss in this case...? Regardless, I'm going to celebrate with a wee dram of scotch.

Cheers ;)
