Ok, I just went and bought 2 x 2gigs of RAM from OWC, and a two port eSata Extender for my external HDs.

Barefeats Memory Tests advises NOT to do that as it will slow down your MP. Order either 4 sticks or 8 sticks. Otherwise you will be experiencing a slower MP.

Yes, VERY different computers... I sold my old Dual G5 with lots of RAM, so now I'm stuck with my MBP 2,33C2D with 3GB RAM, and it's horrific as a workmachine if you work with several heavy applications at the same time.

I usually work very heavy with lots of things at the same time on my stationary computers, and tis laptop just sucks for working like that.

Don't get me wrong, I love my MBP though, but for the occasional on-case job where there are no alternatives, it is NOT a substitute for a Mac Pro. :)
Unless you don't really NEED a Mac Pro that is, if your work is light you'll do fine with a MBP.
 
Its On the truck for delivery

My NEW Mac Pro 3.2 ghz octo and also the memory from OWC is also on the truck for delivery as of 1/25/08 at 11:00 am. But I'm waiting for the gt like everyone else, I'm so excited!!!! I'll put it along side my old mac pro 2.66 ghz quad and run geek test performance stuff with x-bench and then sell it

I got RAM and HD's too, not helping much.. hehe Nice too look at though, 3 Seagate Barracuda's and 8GB RAM from OWC.

Wait, your MP with 8800GT shipped or your OWC RAM shipped? :confused:
 
How come everyone that orders now is getting theirs sooner than me who ordered before them?!
 
I have a hard time believing my Feb 20th ship date is going to be the actual day it happens.

I really feel like any day now it's going to update and say it's leaving soon.

At least I hope so. I'm starting to wish I never ordered it just because waiting and waiting is driving me insane!

Ditto. It's become an obsession ... checking the ship date (currently Feb 15) 3-4 times a day. Jeezus, I might need an intervention soon. Someone call A&E and get me on the show and into treatment.
 
These days can't be real. All the people ordering lately get shipping dates that precede mine (and those that ordered early).

I would NOT think that is actual dates, at least it would upset me if it was..

I have a shipping date of 14th Feb. I ordered 8th Jan, how about you?

I ordered the 15th I think, and got "We estimate your order to be shipped on or before 20 Feb, 2008."

Still, some just ordered, and got earlier dates, ie:

Well considering everyone in this thread ordered the 8800 in their mac pro and everyone has a ship date set in February, I have a hard time believing your post.

Why would you be confused? its painfully obvious as to my post earlier too that I'm waiting for my gt like everyone else. Something else too, the new mac comes with x64bit windows drivers that wont work on the old mac pro, Sucks for everyone else, also the new ati card works in the old mac pro so the new gt might as well I don,t know we'll see, and the old ati card wont boot Windows in the new mac pro (WIERD)

It might very well be the end of March if he would place on oder now. Maybe the first shipment to Apple is sold out and they are waiting for the second shipment of 8800GT cards.
