indeed. although i'm hoping these rumors about 10.5.2 needing to be released before the floodgates open and the shipping dates move up sooner ...

In the meantime I'm trying to find a good display. Will wait for a newer version of ACD, but until then I am eyeing the Samsung 2693HM

Couldn't resist.
I'll upgrade the card later if I need it.
Multimedia would be proud.

Where else besides ADC or HE are you finding a "good deal" on a new mac pro?

I am not advertising for anyone skeptic, Here's my paypal reciept.
I'll keep everyone posted as to the service & shipping aspects, but yes I did indeed take the plunge, & got a KickA** machine on the way soon.
don't be hating, make an offer lower than the BIN price on ebay, 1 time out of
5-10 & youll get lucky. I was looking for four days before i struck the deal.
450.00 or so lower than BIN price. The art of the haggle is not dead!

People using education discounts and then reselling ?

I paid my Mac Pro, on the Apple Store, 400 € lower than base price (for a 4000 € machine), through the company I work for.

Maybe some people are abusing this kind of discounts ?

I know a legal reseller who doesn't make as much margin on the macs he sells...


Can't wait for the Mac Pro shiny box, checking status twice a day even if I'm almost convinced it won't move for a month. Keyword here : almost :p

They have been announcing new stuff every tuesday since mwsf. its only been two weeks i know, but we also saw a pink nano come out of nowhere so maybe next Tuesday will be our day ....
 
Ordered 1/11 - est ship 2/19.

I've always built my PCs since late 90's and have recently decided to go completely Mac with VMWare Fusion when needed. Everyday I come home from work and keep thinking/hoping they'll be a package or delivery sticker even though I know it won't be until Feb - crazy... :rolleyes:

Still waiting for a new Cinema display though. Have dual monitors but really want a HD display.
 
Add me to the waiting list also. Ship date of Feb 26, delivery by Mar 3. Yikes that is along way off.

i am hoping to see a status update tomorrow... altho i know its not gonna happen but hey i can always hope... i also hope that OWC RAM doesnt keep increase in price since i havnt gotten around to ordering it yet
 
I Ordered My 8800GT Separately

I ordered my 3.2GHz Mac Pro with two ATI cards, a RAID card and the 8800GT separately. I'll pull one ATI and put it in my Quad 2.66GHz MP when the 8800GT finally arrives long after my MP arrives. I use 4 screens on all my Macs including a Sony 46XBR4 HDTV.

OWC just raised their price for eight 4GB sticks from $2750 to $2900. Ouch! A $150 increase in one day. :(

Myself, I work alone and plan on keeping the Quad G5, the 2.66 Quad Mac Pro as well as adding the top 8 core with 16GB of RAM

what's with all these end of feb shipping dates? my mp (stock build with airport and 8800gt upgrades) is listed as due for shipping on the 12th , delivery on the 14th on the uk store. and i only ordered it this week.

well, actually i ordered it a day or two after the announcement, got those dates, then realised i'd not ordered it through quidco (an online cashback site) so i cancelled my order, waited and waited and waited for the authorisation on my credit card to be lifted which was stopping me from re-ordering, and finally got to place it again on tues this week i think, with the exact same date estimate. oh, and about £45 on my quidco account too :)

I also ordered stock with 8800GT from the UK store and have 11 and 13 Feb. It maybe because less people (in proportion) have ordered the 8800GT in UK (and/or Europe) so they will have more ready to ship.
 
I've just cancelled mine. I'm going to wait until end of Feb to what they do with the MBP. If nothings happened by then i'll go back and place my order for the MP.
