Updated my S9 to 10.1 was at 100% to start the day, two hours later I’m down to 48%.

Same here. My S7 battery life is in the tank after updating to 10.1. I have it on the charger, and it's even losing power on THAT.
Update: my watch charged slooooooowly overnight but has lost 16% battery in 1/2 hour this morning since I took it off the charger. Yep, there’s a MAJOR bug in 10.1.

I won't even get 3 hours out of my brand new, 100% maximum capacity battery. Need an immediate fix.

My first full day on 10.1. Off the charger at 7:50am and an hour later we're at 97%. Will see how we're doing at 10pm.

Hi so I‘m not sure if anyone has been experiencing this yet but when I go on my Apple Watch SE from 2020, my battery health is 84%, and just a few minutes ago actually, I had checked real quick what time it was. My battery was around 24%. I get up, go use the bathroom and come back and I see on my display the “10% remaining” message, except it said 2% and then died almost instantly. Is there some process or task that suddenly starts consuming battery at a rapid rate?

I first noticed it when I put the 10.1 RC on my watch. This also happened yesterday too. Anyone else?

Series 9 went from 100% to 20% in 20 minutes. All due to latest update yesterday V 10.1

I feel like buying an Ultra 1 to have a second Watch on OS9, just in case. It's unreal that the performance of WatchOS10 is so poor.

Just in Standby with nothing running in the background? That’s a quite shocking jump.

Mine did it with both 10.0 and now still with 10.1. On Watch 8.

Had MUCH better battery life under OS 9. Since 10.0 was installed, battery life altogether has dropped significantly. And I've now turned off just about everything on my watch that made it neat and useful, so no complications shown, no widgets, severely limited background apps (only a very very select few) and more.
Disabling wifi, etc. Just about anything and everything to try and get it to at least last all day.

But, it just won't. I have to now recharge my new Watch 8, twice a day now and sometimes before bed to make sure it doesn't die and not track my sleep. Just ridiculous update all around. Was hoping that 10.1 would fix at least some of it, but it has made zero difference.

Battery drain has been worse for me since 10.0, and now it seems they have doubled down on 10.1. I've never had so many problems with a watchOS update in all these years. They either completely oblivious to the issue or they want to lowkey force you to buy the ultra.

Ultra 1 charged to 80% during installation of 10.1, took it off the charger around 4 PM, it is now 9:30 AM and am at 30%:rolleyes:

"re-calibrate" your battery - let the watch die, charge to 100%, repeat 2-3 times

Okay but what would that do? It seems to be a sudden battery drain from 20% to 2% in less than 3 minutes. It just seems like the battery is starting to wear out. Was hoping I wouldn’t have to get a new battery this year….

No battery issues with 10.1 on S8. Updated to 10.1 yesterday and fully charged to 100% last night. Took it off the charger at 6:30 am today. 4 hours later I am at 90%. Looks good to me.

And also completely unrelated but how do you get that gray blurb about what devices you have/are using? I can’t seem to find an option for it.

As I said, “re-calibrate”, somehow the watch thinks there’s charge in your battery when there isn’t, so doing what I suggested should fix that and/or update the battery health…

Count me in with the quick draining issue. Currently, my Battery Health is at 97%

The fast draining started with the latest update.

I removed all unused apps and turned off background app refreshing, forced restart, etc. It did not help the issue.

I have been finding that in the Ultra 1, if we keep using the new Ultra Modular face, it drains the battery much faster. Also, think that the Outlook complication which displays my upcoming meetings seems to make it drain faster than others. Anyone has a similar expirience?

Another update: I was on the phone with an Apple tech (a senior level one) who ran a couple of diagnostics on my watch and saw the crazy battery issues. He said he or someone else would get back to me in 48 hours. The watch battery died around 10:45 or so (lasted less than 3 hours after being fully charged), so I put it on the charger to see if it'd charge any faster than it did last night and also hold a charge. It was fully charged at 12:45 today and, after a half hour of idle time on my wrist, is down to 90%. That's not great but not as awful as it was yesterday. I may let it drain to zero again and charge it to see if it gets any better. Hopefully, a fix will be coming. If you have any issues, please report them to Apple - the more cases, the faster we'll get a fix.

I’m on an S9 and am having the battery issue since the official 10.1 release yesterday. Apple support said to unpair and repair, but it wasn’t even charging prior to that.

Unpair-repair just finished, but it’s still 10.1. (It popped up a software update available while I was pairing it, but I declined, thinking it'd have reset to 10.0.x, so maybe apple has a fix out? It's not showing anything now when I just check for updates.)

I just got off the phone with AppleCare to get support for the extreme battery drain. At the moment, the watch is actually losing charge while on a fast charger! The tech claims that my watch is running a beta version of iOS despite the beta updates being toggled to off, and that my resolution is to mail my watch to them so they can reset the iOS. Seems sketchy to me...

Glad this isn’t just me. Noticed massive drain yesterday after update so turned watch on and off. Charged overnight. Put it on my wrist at 8am this morning. Just had notification I have 10% left. Have an Ultra 2, so it was quite surprising. Anyone that has tried unparing and repairing noticed a fix?
