The X is Too Big For Me...

It’s definitely the width for me. Typing this post I’m on my X and typing with 2 hands. Trying to type with one hand is almost doable sitting here on the couch. If I drops it will drop on my lap. At work if it drops it will drop on concrete or something.

So the 3.6mm difference in width is affecting you this drastically? I find that very odd but maybe you just have very small hands.

One thing I’ve noticed with the X is I get pinky shelf fatigue. My default one handed holding position is to support the phone at the bottom with my pinky and after a while my pinky gets tired because this phone is pretty damn heavy.

Same here I’m getting a loopy case. I don’t think the X is for one handed use like the 7 which is ok. Love the X but it might not fit my needs comfortably.

You can't pry me away from the SE and that form factor.

If they made a phone anywhere in that physical size range with less bezel/more screen - Oh my.....


Remember, Apple themselves at one time touted how the small phones (3.5"-4" range) were the correct size for the best experience with human hands/the size of them. Once they wanted to profit off larger devices like Android was doing, all of the sudden they stopped talking about that. Human hands haven't changed - Apple profit motives changed.

I feel that way about the 7. I see lots of people on campus with SE’s. My dad like his too.

Using the one handed keyboard would reduce how far your finger needs to reach by as least that much.

I tried that it and it works but my pinky is getting fatigued.

I’m left handed.

I could use my 7 one handed 100% of the time.

I can use the X one handed about 50% of the time.

So funny how much perspective matters, I’m coming from a 7 Plus and am constantly amazed by being able to use a phone 1 handed again without almost dropping it every time!

Tapping the safari tabs button in the bottom right corner is nearly impossible with my left thumb. Accessing control center is equally difficult one handed.

But playing with my wife’s 7 after a week with the X makes the 7 feel like a 5. I’ll live with two handed operation.

I'm also left handed and I use the 8 and 6S Plus (home usage only) but I have no problem with reaching the safari tabs button with my left hand on my 6S Plus which is even 7 mm wider than the X, AND I use it with a Spigen Ultra hybrid case which (of course) increases the total width.

I can't imagine you've got a mini-thumb cause you said you can use the 7 one handed 100% of the time. Maybe change the grip/position of your hand when trying to reach the Safari tabs button?

Pinky Fatigue lol yeah I've read that too.
So maybe it's because of the pinky fatigue that he can't reach the bottom right for Safari tabs with his left hand.
Not trying to make fun of mcdj by the way, I'm not like that.

I have the same one handed style, though I’m so used to it I can rock the 8+ for long periods and be fine.

I don’t regard the X as heavy by any means.

You must have really tiny hands. I’m a 5’1 110 pound woman and can type with one hand. The only letter that I have to adjust my grip, but still using one hand is reaching the ‘q’.

I think some has to do with how people just hold their phones. I too have small hands (another petite woman) and have the same experience as you. If I shift to the right hand keyboard even the “q” issue is gone, though I don’t bother to switch to that much at all.

I compared the iPhone X to my iPhone 6 in the store and I hardly noticed it was slightly bigger. I couldnt compare weight because the X was tethered to the display table at Best Buy. It felt the same in my hand as the 6 though. The 8+ felt too big to me for one-handed operation, but of course someone with larger hands might not think so.

I was really hoping for a 7 with full screen. Could be a 5” screen.

The only thing I find difficult one handed is pulling down control center and notifications from top of phone due to it being longer than the 7. Other than that I’m absolutely loving the X and the bigger screen.
I wish Apple would let you activate control center easier one handed since I use it a lot. Maybe swipe up from bottom right of screen.

Engage the Reachability feature and you can easily pull down the Control Center, as the screen is moved down when Reachability has been engaged. No need to try and reach the upper right corner.

That's irrelevant - there's market to capture.

Tim Cook's own comments admit they were caught off guard and I'll be shocked if they don't have a plan to continue capturing the small phone market moving forward. It's just bad business not to, and we know Apple is not about bad busine$$
