Reachability helps with one hand usage, still not optimum though for me.

I tried the pop socket grip, do not like it at all and I rather stick with Reachability.

Got an iPhone 6S here. Very happy with it, not looking to upgrade anytime soon. I don't think I'd want a phone any bigger than this, though. If Apple continues to update the iPhone SE (while keeping the same design and form-factor), I may go that route in the future.

Bigger isn't always better. 😉

Been trying reachability and like you not optimum enough for me.

After reading (and posting in) this thread, it got me really second-guessing my plan to get an X and to think strongly again about a crazy idea I had recently of getting an SE. I have the 6s now and switching to an SE would be a sideways move in terms of functionality, and I'd lose screen real estate / resolution. But I'd get a more pocketable and one-hand-usable device again.

So then I perused the deal forums I follow and saw that I could get an AT&T Prepaid iPhone SE from Best Buy for $150 which I apparently can just pop my existing postpaid AT&T SIM into. For $150, I think it's worth trying out. Worst case, I'll have spent $150 on a backup phone.

It's so bizarre that they can't see a major

Amazing isn't it?
6s guts in a wonderfully pocketable form factor and you can buy TEN of them ... or one single iPhone X

Coming from a Plus for over 2 years, I can't agree at all. If anything, I feel the opposite. The X is too small. I mean, yeah, it feels great fitting in my hand and pocket with ease, but I miss typing and viewing on a Plus.

Anyone else finding the X a little too big for one handed use? I always would have loved to see a 7 with full screen and no home button keeping the same form for one handed use.

Wait six months. It may not be called the "7" but there will certainly be a smaller and cheaper version of the X to replace the 6/7 and eventually the 8. I am thinking the product lineup with look like this (sorted in ascending order of price):

iPhone X Plus
iPhone X
iPhone X SE (similar form factor as current SE but all screen)
iPhone 8/8+ (Old Technology)

You would want the X SE

The perfect form factor for me is the 7.

I wouldn’t want a similar form factor as current SE with full screen. I was actually thinking that Apple would make the 7 full screen but they didn’t. I always said they can easily increase screen real estate in the 7 but 1/4” give or take.

I'm still on my 5S -- thinking about an SE -- because other iPhones are just too big for use on the go. I do not want a phone that I have to baby with two hands and an awkward grip. Hopefully one day Apple will make a mobile phone like that again.

Yeah the pluses were always just too massive for my tastes, I have an iPad when I want all that extra screen real estate

Right, one thing one may forget is that the top of the screen for the 6-8 is lower than it is for the X as well as them being lighter and slimmer devices, that bit of extra size and heft can make all the difference for some people's handling of it depending on the size and shape of their hands, palm:finger ratio and so on.

The top of the screen being lower makes a lot of difference for me. People say you’ll get use to it. But what if I don’t? Had it for almost 2 weeks.

On the 6S I use "double touch" function on the home button (not double click), which temporarily brings the top of the screen down within reach. I have no idea how to activate that feature on an X though, since there is no home button. But it is a feature that's even more important on an X.

You either swipe down near the bottom or can have a virtual button. But the virtual button is like a hack to me. Plus it always defaults to the top right corner and then you have to move it.

Also control center I can’t reach WiFi as an example one handed. On my 7 is lower and can reach it easily.

It's actually not quite as heavy when I tried it for a good 10+ min again while also checking out other phones and the AW. It is quite tall to reach for Control Center though. They should have made the action as a gesture swipe from the bottom right.

The phone that actually intrigued me was the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact. No glass back..yay! I need another small phone to replace my $30 Moto E but I'm not going to spend $500 for it. So either XZ1C when it gets cheaper or another SE I will only use for GPS. Only $99 at Walmart on Black Friday.

I used "SE" as an example. Not exactly the same form factor, but if the screen of the SE was edge to edge it would be compatible to the 7. I am pretty sure the X is meant to take the place of the 6/7/8.

Yea the X I’m sure is meant to take the place of the 6/7/8. For me I would like to see an edge to edge in the same form factor as my 7.

After using the X for almost 2 weeks pretty heavily it’s going back today. Now that I’m rocking my 7 I LOVE the footprint WAY better for one handed use. I like to literally whip my iPhone from my pocket and start doing stuff easily and comfortably and couldn’t do it with the X. Don’t get me wrong the X is a FANTASTIC device but doesn’t fit my style of whipping around my iPhone.

And something else came to mind after using my 7 for a day. The X is a ‘beautiful sexy’ device. It really is. But it’s a little too beautiful and sexy and metrosexual for me if that makes sense. It’s too beautiful not manly looking, a little girly looking on a hardware point of view. This is my opinion. My favorite case is the Magpul Field case for my 7. My 7 looks stealthy not beautiful and sexy. When I rock my 7 naked it looks more manly to me than my X. Again this is my opinion. I’m more of a rugged work wear type of dude.

Hmm that’s a good idea.

Having lugged this phone around fr two days now, I think putting in a lanyard might make you develop a hunch.

I have had to rethink my habits on using phones due to the X....with the 5S I could just whip it out anywhere...in moving crowds, markets, subways.....walk and talk. Because my hand enclosed it completely. With this one it doesn't grip it all around that well.

So my new rules are:

1. No answering phone/texting while walking, unless I'm in a static position. It nearly got against the fabric of my chino pockets and fell so no chances. Lets see how long my 'rules' last...lol

Well, I did it. Yesterday I made an impulse buy and bought an AT&T Prepaid iPhone SE from Best Buy for $150. For that price, I figured I wouldn't sweat it and could try out living with a small phone again. The SE is sort of a sideways move from my iPhone 6s. Mostly the same guts (aside from the older-gen Touch ID sensor - which seems to work just fine). Other than that, the only real/noticeable difference is obviously the smaller size and smaller/slightly-lower-res screen. Same PPI, though.

I had to shuffle some apps around this morning to get my most-used stuff to fit on my home screen, since I've lost one row of 4 icons.

My other concern was whether I'd be able to squeeze down from 64GB to 32GB. I think I was using a little over 40GB on my 6s, but much of that was for photos. I pay for iCloud Photo storage, so I'll just lose some cached local photos. I don't store movies, music, or podcasts locally, I stream podcasts and music, so that's not a concern.

The phone feels great. Maybe the one usability downgrade is the smaller keys on the keyboard.

So, I'll play around with this for a week or two and see how I feel. If I decide the smaller screen is too big of a negative for me, I may decide to splurge on an iPhone X. But if I'm happier, I'll send a feature request to Apple asking them to make an edge-to-edge SE-sized X variant ASAP.

Gave Tim Cook $1000 so your usage can be limited? Brilliant.
