Weight and having a taller display might also be playing a factor. The weight of the PS Vita phat holding it while lying in bed is why I wanted the slim.

Lightest 4.7" is the 6. The X is heavier than the 6 Plus but lighter than the last three Plus models. Add the fact that many are adding cases to make it feel more like a brick.
X is smaller than the Plus models thanks to being narrower and shorter but it's noticeably heavier and feels more condensed than the 4.7" models. The 4th heaviest iPhone ever.
I noticed this right away when picking it up and trying to use it one-handedly. Weight adds bulk. Not just dimensions. This will be a bit of a shock for folks who are accustomed to 4.7" iPhones.
Luckily I've been using the plus models since they were introduced.
However I agree, it's definitely a hefty device for its size, my S8 felt much lighter and thinner.
But I'll take it, I can easily use it one handed if I must and I don't feel as if I have a brick in my pocket with the plus model.
