Wow. They just pulled Rivera. Not a pretty sight.

Daisuke got roughed up in the fourth, but put out his last seven batters. Kind of a mediocre performance.

woo 11-4 sox win :)

Matsuzaka gave up 4 runs in the 4th, but that's it. Not a bad performance, but not his best either.

MacNut, remember, he's our #3 starter and he's only a rookie. Considering this, he's doing pretty well.

I thought the Red Sox picked him up to be the big ace not the number 3.

Yes, Matsuzaka and Beckett will be the two aces of the future, but he's still only a rookie. Right now, Schilling is still the ace of the staff, and Beckett is the number two.

And he will be eventually, but the nice thing is that there is no pressure on him to be the ace immediately, since the sox rotation is so deep he has time to adjust to pitching the US.

Yes, he has probably been a little underwhelming so far given all the hype, but he has been good enough to keep them in the game, which is more than I can say for the yankees starters (when was the last time the pitched into the 6th inning?).

Exactly. Plus, giving up 4 runs to a lineup full of all-stars isn't bad.

Yeah, eventually he will be.NOBODY in the organization,or in Boston for that matter, expected him to come in and win 20 and the Cy Young this year. Anybody who thinks is otherwise has lost touch with reality.. As I said earlier,Beckett will emerge as the ace of the staff and will probably contend for the Cy Young this year..

Everyone has given up on Pavano again.

Was that Dice-K's worst inning in the 4th??

I had a dream last night that A-Rod finally got fed up with the Yanks and we picked him up in the off-season...

edit: Could it be that the Red Sox errors cause the yanks to win their first game in the past eight?

How about that good Yankee pitching today?
I don't understand why Torre wont just leave a pitcher in. Wong was pitching well enough to go into the 7th. He only had 80 something pitches. Sometimes I think that he wants to get fired.

Whats all this talk of Torre getting fired? I thought y'all loved the man.
He has proven time and again that he can't manage the team when they are in a pinch. He over manages and finds a way to lose. I don't understand why he wont just leave a starter in to take a beating once in a while to rest the pen that is being over worked. The team won't win until the pitching fixes itself and the more the pen is over worked the longer its going to take for that to happen.

Hard for the starting pitching to right itself while it's currently in a game. If they're taking a beating they are probably gonna remain off-kilter. We're running into the same issue currently with the Braves, it Bobby's been letting our two weak pitchers go into the 5th before pulling them. But our bullpen has been way overused of late.

Torre has a .536 win percentage, thats not amazing, but it's not awful either. Can you really drop a team staple like that?

2 words, Billy Martin.:p

Even a mad Red Sox fan like myself has to admit that Joe Torre has to have been doing something right for all this time. I think overall he's a solid manager. What I can't understand is when he does things like have Abreau try to bunt... repeatedly.

The guy who needs to be fired is Cashman. The announcers on our side New England gave him a pretty good ribbing today. I mean, even with nobody hurt, the rotation looked pretty weak from the get-go. That shouldn't happen with a payroll that large.

In New York everyone was saying that the rotation was better this year. I don't think that Abreu wasn't given a bunt sign but doing it on his own. That is what the NY broadcasters said.

The Yankees need to play a bad team to get the confidence back. I am not worried as much as frustrated, Once July comes around everything should be evened out.
