Roger Clemens just announced he will play for the Yankees. Can't say I didn't see this one coming.

At least the Red Sox don't seem to have a problem hitting him.
He announced about an hour ago.:D

So, here we go again - 3 more games. By Wednesday the Red Sox lead could be as big as 13.5 games or as small as 7.5 games.

I'm a Red Sox fan, but I have a feeling that the Yankees will take 2 of 3 with Schilling pitching well enough of Wednesday to make sure the sox avoid the sweep.

The Yankees season hinges on this series, They need to win at least 2 or heads will roll. The team is starting to hit and the top 3 starters are pitching. There could be a momentum shift for the better this week for the Yankees or the bottom could drop out. The season is not over yet but this series will be a good indicator of what happens.

I watched the Yankees' game last night against the Mets, and even though they won quite comfortably, I noticed that Rivera's stuff seemed quite ordinary. If I were a Yankees fan I'd be worried about him.

The one team Rivera's always had trouble with is the Sox.Whether it's April or October, doesn't matter.Big series for the Yanks tho.Much more pressure on them. If the bottom falls out,do they fire Torre?Hard to blame the manager for guys not hitting the ball tho...

Thee problem with Rivera is that he hadn't pitched in over a week, if he gets normal work in he's fine. As for Torre, he will be the fall guy no matter how injured the team is.

So basically he hasn't pitched in over a week every time he plays the Red Sox?

How about when they shell him on back to back nights?

Rivera is getting old and is past his prime.

Can't wait for tonight, hopefully Wake can continue to pitch well and we can score some runs.

Well, don't you have to blame Torre? He controls the bullpen. If Rivera needs regular pitching to stay at the top of his game isn't it Torre's job to make sure that happens. Saying Rivera isn't pitching well because he hasn't pitched in a week is basically saying that Torre doesn't know how to manage his team.

The Yankees hit Wakefield fairly well.

Your not going to waste Rivera every blowout, he is a closer not mid relief that you can just use to eat innings.

Yeah, but if you're winning or losing by a lot for a few games in a row, you still have to play him in order to keep him sharp.

What's the feeling in NY with Giambi?? I highly doubt the player's union would ever allow the Yankees to void his contract..

I don't mean to be a thread crapper but the whole Yanks/ Red Sox rivalry is been done to death. I get it and all, and they do have some good games but there are a lot more other teams in the majors with great story lines and good ball clubs who do it with a fraction of the payroll that these two clubs have. Also I am tired of the force feeding of the Yanks and Bo Sox from ESPN.

With all of that said. I am a Yankee Hater. George is ridiculous. I like watching Clemens pitch but I don't like the part-time rent to own agreement that he had in Houston and now in NY. Ihope that the Yanks come up short this year and don't get into the playoffs.

Hence the 'mlb spin-off thread' such as you see in the title of this thread.

I started this thread because of the complaints in the main thread about to much Yanks Sox talk. If you don't want to talk about them you don't have to post here. The fact is that Yankees Red Sox are still the biggest rivalry in all of sport.

Arod 3 home runs in 3 games.

It's only the biggest rivalry because it's the most hyped up, but I do enjoy it. I just wish ESPN and Fox would look at other rivalries.

I hope A-Rod continues to tear it up at the plate- maybe take some (more) of the focus off bonds.

God I hate Yankees fans. You're all gloating about a-rod now hitting all these home runs, but as soon as October comes and he goes 3-29 like he did last year, you're all going to be booing him again.
