DirtyHarry is in fact a troll. Someone else correctly pointed out that Apple top brass made it a point to correct an interview article that implied that the imac refresh would be along in 2013 with the mac pro; saying that only the mac pro would have to wait until 2013. That's more specific information than for almost anything else they release.

So yes, whatever else someone else wants to say about rumors being all right/wrong, that is some "different" data for the mix.

He's actually being a pretty bad troll, if you look at it. He's unabashedly gloating in riling people up, oversimplifying opposing arguments to further entice, etc. Real trolling requires more subtlety.

That's just a dirty rumor you are spreading. In fact, it isn't even that. It's purely baseless speculation.

I've taken the time to argue my points and I've yet to resort to character assassination unlike yourself.

Link please some credible information, in other words from Apple themselves, where they clearly state there will be a 2012 iMac. Oh, wait - you can't because they haven't!

The difference is, I have never said Apple announced this whereas my friend was putting words into Apple's mouth that have never existed.

Nice try. ;-)

This assertion is about as accurate as any other made here at this point.

There ain't gonna be a refresh in 2012.

Sorry guys but somebody has to say it. The more time that goes by, the more likely to be true this becomes.

As much as I wish Dirtyharry to be wrong, his point is correct. The assertion that there will be no 2012 iMac is as accurate as any other made to this point. I highly doubt all of the rumors to this point. I will believe a 2012 iMac when I see it.

No you are wrong. Multiple sources with more educated guesses and "inside" info has said sept/October. Dirtyharry only makes a wild guess pulled from his a**. Theres a difference in that.

I suspect that a major part of the outrage at the assertion of this thread is because of the sheer frustration that there has not already been an upgrade of the iMac. Personally I find it hard to believe that there hasn't already been an upgrading in terms of specifications using Ivy Bridge at least. I would have thought that it would be almost automatic to use a significant new processor without necessarily changing anything else much.

It has been sufficiently long now that Ivy Bridge could have been used and then whatever the future holds would not have been too soon, whenever that is, 2012 or 2013.

There have been so many false predictions about the "new iMac" that in a way it was refreshing to hear this counterpoint prediction. I have been sufficiently frustrated at the lack of a revision coming out that I have become rather resigned that good sense does not seem to be prevailing in terms of iMac roll outs so that almost anything is now believable.

If the only useful information is Apple announcements, this entire website doesn't need to exist.

Oh, that is not true. There is all kinds of good helpful information here, experienced users helping out new ones, real news, etc.

If you went by Apple announcements, not a single product coming out rest of the year.....:)

No, it means maybe and maybe not. Who knows? What I get a kick out of is how some folks get pretty riled up when you suggest the possibility of a maybe not even though it is just as likely as a maybe in some cases.

bottom of the article. Apple clarifying columnist who said Mac Pro and iMac would be updated in 2013, saying that statement only applied to Mac Pro.

And frankly, you dont take the time to argue your points. You're just spouting existential nonsense about how no one can really know anything. Thanks troll zenmaster.

Why are some of you guys getting all stressed and bent out of shape and sneering to each other with unpleasant comments about whether a computer - a thing - will or will not be refreshed? Gee guys, what will be will be. It ain't worth losing sleep over. It'll happen when it happens.

You're right, it's silly. But, in the absence of playing with our unreleased computer, some of us are reading every analyst note, supplier report, component review, and so on and so forth to put together a reasoned opinion of what we think will be in the box and when we think we might get to open it. And then others bend over and speak with their rear, and would like us to believe there is as much reason and logic in their opinion as there is in ours. It can be a bit frustrating.

Hi forty2j, yes indeed. Your rationale makes sense. Passion and enthusiasm for a subject is one thing but deliberately insulting other Apple aficionados over their opinions is another thing entirely and should have no place here. I am surprised the moderators tolerate it.

Supplier report ? Are there any supplier reports about an upcoming iMac ? Is there one single supplier who officially stated that it's producing a component for Apple's next desktop ? If the answer is YES, than I can't read rumors and someone's gotta teach me ... BIG TIME !

OP got a point, I think. His opinion regarding non-existence of 2012 iMac actually is just about as valid (or not) as the opposite. With some reasons he speculated about this, and some of you just don't want to hear his side of the story. I know it's hurt to wait up to this far. But you just can't dispose the possibility of you have to wait longer.

It's a flippin' coin really. Just because a few analyst spreading another rumors about new iMac presence, it's hardly help the odds at all. Unlike the iPhone or iPad, nobody feel interested to post pictures (shoddy or not) about new iMac parts because it won't make bring them that 15 minutes of fame.

That's just one thing about rumors. They thrill people, most actually love them for it. Being a truth or not is irrelevant. If Dirtyharry50 is right, well you might just owe him an apology for your frivolity. But to be fair he's right not because he knows that he is, but more like winning a lottery. Nobody should feel himself being great about winning a lottery, I think? :D

That information you quote is already well known and says nothing directly about when any iMacs will be released. Again, you are another who sinks to name calling for lack of any real substantive arguments to make.

Where have I openly or even indirectly made insulting remarks to anyone here? It is me who has been on the receiving end of insults in this thread and I've yet to sink to that level and insult back. I don't know where you get that from unless you find any differing opinion to be an insult.

I made a reasoned argument earlier in this thread which apparently you did not read or chose to dismiss since it does not agree with your own views. That however does not mean it did not happen or that it is not a valid point of view.

You are absolutely right Isay. If I wind up being right it won't be because I am some gifted soothsayer who just "knew" what would be. The only thing I've been doing is making a reasoned argument for the unpopular view that there will not be a 2012 iMac refresh. This has made some people upset to the point they would insult me over it versus making reasoned arguments to counter mine which tells me they don't know how to do so.

If anything I would change the thread title to "may NOT" as its not a fact.

Still hoping for that new iMac which I personally believe there is still a good chance of coming out this year Sept-Oct. The fact that it is this far into the year does allow for a strong opposition that they might as well just keep it this year and save it for early next year?

Am strongly siding with the rumor from that one guy(can't remember) who claimed for a Sept-Oct release and that iMac production had faced a screen lamination issue and thats why its taking this long. Thats just me though.

The only argument I've found from you is that MacRumors, Cult of Mac, 9to5Mac, The Loop, Cnet, CNN, ABC, The NY Times, and anyone else with a knack for reporting on Apple or an inside track should be ignored entirely because they can't print on Apple letterhead. So rather than listen to what people better placed than us have to say, we should just flip a coin and use that as our guide.

Oh look, my coin flip says Samsung is buying Apple. Better go buy some shares.

I'll just leave this here to renew any crushed hopes

I never said those sources should be ignored and in this thread you've never linked a single one of them to make some point to support your view either have you?

Why do you keep making stuff up and then top it off with some sarcastic remark? Where's the beef? Don't you have something worthwhile to contribute to this discussion?

You should just leave the forum, really. your stupidity makes me even more confident that everything else you write is bullocks.
Have you not checked for info before you state your claims? These rumors/news forty2j are referring to are not hard to find. Inf act most of them have been reblogged here at macrumors. Just type "iMac" in the main page search bar and go from there. But I guess you don't want to, mure fun behaving like an ****** with no facts to back you up.

Not to interfere in this whole discussion, just to cool it down a bit ... what Dirtyharry50 means is probably that there's actually only speculations, "guesses", not real founded proofs of an upcoming iMac 2012 ... I think we all feel much more frustrated by the fact that, for exemple, there are a lot of real proofs of the upcoming new iPhone, iPad mini, ect. because we've seen leaks, components and have statements by suppliers that corroborates the next mobile devices launch ...
What I would like to have is some similar clues for my next damn iMac !!!

Peace to all of you ...

I've waited so long for an iMac so it better be a redesign, something good or both. I think it will be released in September but it could be released in October too I just have a better feeling about September.

EDIT: Sorry, I just realised I posted this in the wrong thread
 .
