I hate all the crappy TN panels they're putting into their stuff. Just ruins it.

My point was it would be nice to have to ability to have the green button fullscreen an application.
Just because the way OS X does something compared to Windows is different doesn't always make the OS X way better straight out.

Did you actually read what you just wrote?
You said, it would be nice to have the green button fullscreen an app.
Then you turn around and say just because OS X implements this differently than Windows doesn't make OS X better.

You just contradicted yourself, your point also states that the Windows way of this implementation doesn't make it better either.

BTW, please stop being ignorant to the fact that nearly all of Apple's preinstalled OS X apps DO fullscreen at the click of the green button.
Only iTunes and Safari don't work the way you want.

Most of the things annoying me with apple have already been written.
I have a 13'' MB and working with many windows isn't too practical.Maximization would be nice with the green button. After all when a lot of people demand for a thing, it can't be so foolish.
Second thing,is the lack of a desktop customizable like Macpro, but with inferior characteristics, like the ones of iMac.Just like when you're buying a PC.And also the ability to change things on it from time to time. When I need a machine with just a better CPU,why should I pay also for a bigger hard disk and an additional graphic card?
Third, the option to wipe off things from a USB flash without having to empty the trash.
A restore option in the trash. It's windowish like cut/paste,but that's not making it a bad idea.Or is it the complex of "copying" sth from MS?;)
Another one,is the lack of choosing the highlight colour in preview. This grey or blue is not practical. It would be better be red or green or anything more spottable(does this word exist?).
And last,a card reader for xD or SD memory cards would be great like all PC laptops have. But it's not minimalistic, right?
It's corrupting "the design"

os x mistakes when transfering huge folders. It happened to my wife today. She tried to backup her photos from her SR MBP (about 45 gb) to a 160gb WD USB drive. OS X.4.11 told her transfer would take about 2 hours. She came back 15 minutes later and seemed that the transfer finished. The folders showed in the backup drive .As she was about to empty the trash in her macbook pro she told me how quickly the files transfered. I told her not to erase her files yet because something like that happened to me before where I lost all my anime (about 35 gb).I thought all the files transfered to my Seagate firewire drive so I erased them from my imac. When I went to watch them ,I couldn't watch 98% of them .Is like it could properly transfer only the first 10 files out of 200 the rest couln't be opened. Mind you you could SEE the folder but you couldn't open them ( on my wife's they where empty).

I don't hate anything about Macs, but there are some things that bother me.

1. Compatibility with media. iTunes and Quicktime are lacking several codecs like WMA, AVI, ASF, RAM, and WMV. This made it a total pain to transfer all of my music and videos over to my Mac. At least there's VLC.

2. Quick look. I love it, but it has some strange quirks that become really annoying. If you're viewing something with Quick Look, and you click elsewhere in the screen, it'll go away. Apple must not realize that people would rather use Quick Look instead of Quicktime, because it's way faster. Apple thinks people just use it for checking and previewing stuff before they open it.

3. Maximize/Zoom/Plus/Confuse/Useless/ScrewMyWindowUp button. Obviously.

4. DVD Player. I just noticed this in Leopard. If you try to take a screenshot while DVD Player is open, it will throw up an error stating "You cannot take screenshots while DVD Player is open". It must be some new anti-piracy measure, but it sure made things a lot harder when I needed to get photos from a slideshow I made.

5. Lack of a simple paint program. I used MS Paint all of the time to do simple photo editing. Yes, I could use Photoshop, but MS Paint was so much simpler.

1: Windows Media Player doesn't work with everything right out of the box either. But you can get CCCP for it, and Perian for Quicktime.

2: What I want with Quicklook is for it to not go away if I then rename the file while previewing it. It won't if I use a one word name, but as soon as I hit space (obviously) it goes away.

4: Hell, at least we have a built in DVD Player

5: I Concur wholeheartedly! I just want a free, simple paint alternative... how is this hard?

I hate - with a PASSION - the keyboards on the new Macbooks. It makes them look like an old 80's ZX Spectrum.

My PowerBook G4 is on its last legs and I have the money waiting to buy the new MacBook Pro in January (if there is one) - but if it has that crappy keyboard I don't know what I'll do. If I'm spending £1500 on a computer, I don't want it to look like a cheap piece of crap.

I hate the lack of support for video conferencing through MSN messenger so I can actually talk to my cousin in iraq without having to buy a webcam and use it on my other computer (a pc)

Get him to download Skype.

I've never had a problem with large file transfers, I've installed a new hard drive in my Macbook a couple of days ago with no problems.

Also you should always make sure you have a backup (i.e. 2 copies) of important data, external hard drives are so cheap that there is no excuse. If it had failed there would be an error message IMO.

That's the weird thing there are NO error mesages:confused: . The windows that is doing the transfers just disapears. I think it's because is 1 huge folder with 3-5 big folders inside. If I do transfers in small batches its fine.BTW My permissions get checked every month.
I agree with you about 2 copies. 1 in an external HD and the other burnt on DVD's

I don't care for those keyboards either. I know it's really just a matter of taste, but they look awkward and after spending time typing on them, I found them to be somewhat uncomfortable.

That's because they don't give enough feedback (they don't go down far enough when hit) so a lot of times I don't know if I've actually pushed down a button.

I just tried that with a PDF and it worked. I opened a PDF with Quicklook, changed the name to two separate names such as "client file" using the space bar and the Quicklook window stayed open while renaming.

Huh, that is so weird, I just renamed a file on my desktop and it closed QuickLook, but if the file is in documents or pictures, or somewhere like that... it doesn't close... how strange.

I don't prefer the keyboards from the MacBook either, and i pray that Apple doesn't think they are the greatest gift to input device design since the Logitech MX, like so many other consumers do.

If they put it in the MacBook Pro but give me more BTO options and functionality (and that second HDD, or small SSD) then it'd be okay. If they give us a slight redesign with a magnetic latch and that keyboard and don't add anything else to the machine then I will try my best to find the SR MBP and hope I don't get a yellow screen.

Hmm, if iPhone=Mac than I hate how I need to buy an adapter FOR my car adapter to use it :( The recessed jack is great for the iPhone headphones, but not for anything else.
And I wish Apple would push harder to make the Mac a more viable gaming platform. Other than that, not a whole lot.

I miss the pulsing sleep light...

it's not on my new iMac.

It makes it hard to tell whether the computer is off or just sleeping.

Also, it very much irritates me that the bong it makes on start up is at maximum volume regardless of what the volume was when I shut it off. I ended up waking the whole house up one day turning my computer on early in the morning to check for cancelations from snow. I found and installed something that muted my start up bong sound... but still, I would rather I didn't have to install anything (particularly in system preferences where for all I know it's going to break my computer,) and Apple just offered an option to turn down the volume on it somewhere.

And I have to say I also don't like the way the plus button works... on my 24" screen it looks too tall and skinny... maybe if it preserved the ratio of the window that would be nice?

Really? I think I like the design more. Less prone to get sticky crap/gunk/crumbs underneath the keys, it seems. And I think I can type faster on the new MacBook keyboard.

The "normal" keyboard design looks better though.

I think you're right. I also like the slight curvature of normal keyboards (and the mbp keyboard) because this tells you if you're touching the edge of the keyboard or are roughly at center. This helps with accuracy IMHO.

spotlight in 10.5 is a downgrade!!!!!!!!

i'll partially agree. launching apps is a little more convenient, pressing return and not command-return. i also like that it does arithmetic and dictionary definitions. but i hate how it doesn't search everywhere (like the system folder), and the search results window is a definite downgrade from tiger.
