- The sleep light cannot be disabled. I like not shutting down my Power Book but, in a dark bedroom, that light gets annoying.

If Macs were perfect, Steve Jobs would have retired, so what annoys you about Apple products? It's just a bit of fun...

Dude, I wish I could have introduced you to my POS Acer Laptop PC. It's the reason I switched to Apple. Plug that puppy in and you got this wanna-be-gamer bright blue hue spread all over the room. I agree it would be cool if you could adjust that light, but in the meantime, if you're not liking the Mac's breathing light, get a tiny sticker and put it over the light.

He doesn't even need a sticker. Just put t cloth on your laptop in a way that the cloth covers the light! That's what i do! Quick and painless!:p

That's a fix for a problem that shouldn't exist. Where is the "Turn of the damn stupid white LED that spends all night going 'Look at me, watch me fade, I'm shiny, you want me, see me get bright, now watch me dim again'" option in power options?

That's not a problem. Maybe it os for you for the conditions you describe but you need an indicator to show you that the laptop is on sleep mode.

I love mine, performance is great, graphics could be better but the airport quality is the downfall. Its absolutely unbearable. Should be taken care of around Christmas time hopefully.

hahaha, damn that sleep light - its annoyed me on my imac/emac/imac in my bedroom, since my first imac (when i was about 8/10, i'm not sure anymore) i've placed stickers over the sleep light - its become a tradition with my computers... i've had bandaids, and winnie the pooh stickers, an ikea sticker from my wardrobe, i now have a pandamonium sticker - representing my mac friend... hahaha

the boxes are getting *******, no?? but os x is the best, by far

One thing that has always annoyed me, having to manually unmount programs when i install them. Its such a easy installation process, until doing that!

For everyone unhappy with Apple's zoom feature, why not try megazoomer. It's a free plugin which gives you the option of pressing Command + Enter to zoom the window to fit the screen. I belive it only works with Cocoa apps, but it's been very useful for me. The zoom is even animated smoothly in true Apple style :p

The things that really annoy me:

1: The mouse action is just not as accurate as windows. I have tried the mighty mouse and an expensive logitech.

2: Photoshop shows the background instead of a clean blank canvas until you open a file.

3: Just a bit awkward and time consuming compared to windows.

But i wouldnt go back as i havent had any viruses, spyware, malware, crashing or anything like that!!

#2 is the application not the OS. I think it's even the version. Last version of PS I ran on windows windowed in exactly the same way as it does in Mac. There is a full screen option you can turn on as well.

This is Photoshop, not OS X.

CS3 still shows the wallpaper in the background unless you go into fullscreen mode. The new version, CS4 has an option you can turn on or off called "Application Frame" which makes PS look much more like the Windows version. (I prefer having the gray backdrop as well.)

you know, now that I think about it, what's up with Apple's obsession with the indicator light? They are so obsessed with it that they have this whole laser etching technology on the new models to have the light "shine through the aluminum. Crazy...

I tried to think of something that I don't like about my macs but I can't think of anything. I know there are some things that I complained about but I honestly can't think of a single thing right now.

1. I respectfully disagree. Doesn't seem like it is less accurate to me. The feel of the Wireless Mighty Mouse does seem slightly less accurate than the wired one, however, but it isn't.

2. Out of curiosity, how long do you stare at the blank background before you open a window? It's nice that the option is there to not have a background. It makes it easier to open things on the desktop.

3. Are you a recent switcher? If so, you'll probably get used to it and you'll be much faster. Exposé and quick look have sped up my workflows tremendously. Even putting in that acute accent took less time. What is the code for it on Windows? Alt+some 4 digit code? Option-E E gave it to me. That was laughably simple compared to the alternative. You can drag things onto the icons on the dock, which windows recognizes but won't let you do for some reason. There are a lot of things that will help you work faster.

As a person who used to do competitive multiplayer FPS, I wholeheartedly agree, the mouse is definitely less responsive in OS X - it's really easy to notice this on my Logitech MX 518. If I simply reboot to XP, it's a huge difference.

But this isn't something everyone notices. Just like graphics designers are demanding about displays and music professionals are touchy about speakers/headphones, some people can notice problems in mouse responsiveness/precision. The superiority of wired mice over wireless ones is a similar dilemma.

Quicken for Mac is so weak. I looked at other Mac-based personal finance software and eventually gave up to install VMWare Fusion, Windows XP, and Quicken for Windows 2009. I have less money, but I'm able to manage it again.

Edit: After I posted, I realized the poll may be been limited to Mac OS X. My bad. Still, since my switch to Macs 2 years ago, I have really found Mac OS X to be wonderful. If Intuit would put out a full featured Quicken for Mac, I'd never have to boot Windows again (at my home).

I've noticed that ever since I got my Mac, I've been able to do the hardest things in the least amount of time, and with the least amount of effort. For example, making a website. I tried doing it in Windows... using a lame WYSIWYG program... and it just never worked. Got my Mac, started using iWeb, and I had a professional site- better than anything I had ever made in Windows- finished and online in under 45 minutes.

Expose is fantastic- I use it at least every minute. Windows alt-tab or Flip3D (which is exceedingly worthless, IMO) is absolutely no compare. Expose just blows it out of the water.

The Mighty Mouse is fantastic. But mine broke, so right now I'm using my Logitech G5 Laser. The only thing that's bugged me, is the way OS X interprets mouse acceleration on PC-based mice; that weird way that you move the mouse slowly, and the cursor just creeps along. Luckily, SteerMouse to the rescue.

I must be one of the only people who likes the transparent Photoshop background. :D It lets me, for example, have Mail open (and looking at project specifications), and use Photoshop without having to swap windows every time.

Plus no viruses. My friend had one of those MSN viruses, so just for fun I downloaded it in OS X and what do you know- nothing happened. :D When I used Windows I was paranoid about everything I downloaded. Because- quite frankly- everything could be a virus. But now that I use OS X, I'm never worried about what I'm downloading.

Making the switch to Macs was the best thing I've ever done; technology-related. My Mac can do everything your PC can do, and more.

Side Note: You still need to worry, there are trojans out there that can steal your info and data - but they try to trick you into installing them by posing as something else, like quicktime codecs.
