Yep yep, I have the AW 3 and an iPhone 8+.

I have 2 $10 wireless chargers (one a stand) on Amazon. I recently <cringed> and bought another Apple Watch charging cable for my office so my watch can be charged at work and home if I so want. Wireless charger for phone at home and work.

Total paid: ~$10 + ~$10 + $29 = $49 give or take a few bucks for tax.

No way in hell I'd pay $150 or $200 for this especially now.

Yeah $200 is insane! It's a battery wrapped in cloth and a cable.. LOL

Yes I know someone will quote this saying it's more than that - understood! My comment is in simple terms. No way that thing is worth $200.. $99? Maybe...

The fact that I’d have to also buy a new case for my AirPods pushes this over the edge.... whats that gonna be? At least another 50? So 250ish for all this? I was looking forward to it but i changed my mind... as much as i hate cords that’s just too much.

Overheating due to short circuit obviously. Google it, you'll become scared very quickly.

Will do. I had an Anker wireless pad get REALLY hot cuz I didn't have the phone completely on it. It eventually stopped charging, Anker replaced it for free and the replacement had no problems (wife uses it now on her side of the bed).

What about all the reports that wireless charging taxes battery much worse than wired charging? Will their be a class action suit in 2 years to give cheap batteries for all the new Xs and 8s?

Pardon the comparison, but apples and oranges - i am not that guy, you have me mistaken for someone else.

It's really not. 3 chargers + cables from Apple cost about 90 dollars, a cheap charging mat (according to you) is 25 dollars times 3 = 75 dollars. But somehow someway a charging mat that can charge 3 devices should cost 50 dollars (which is what an actual decent charging mat costs right now) o_O.

I for one don't want to trade security for cheap electronic work, seen the dangers of that enough in my work.

So it isn’t worth it to have the only charger on the market that supposedly doesn’t have a sweet spot and supposedly isn’t just three coils? This isn’t exactly the same as three separate chargers.

You really think people who have a iPhone X and a new Apple watch care about money or the difference between 100 and 200 dollars?

The price doesnt bother me if I actually had a use for this. But I don't use airpods and even if I did I wouldn't be inclined to buy a second case. I use metal bands on my watch like the link band sold by apple and the Milanese loop.... with these on I can't just lay the watch on the mat to charge, I would have to take the band off which makes this lose all convinience. I wonder how many others are in my same boat.

Should be $49 as it's only a mat with a cable, highly doubt it since they want to market charging 3 devices at once.

At $200?> NO!

At $99?> Maybe!

Well, you do you. I might buy on, depending on how my finances work out. Tired of having my phone get hit by a cat or sometimes nothing at all and suddenly it isn’t charging when I use my wireless charger.

So it should charge 3 devices for less than what some charge for a single device wireless charger...

I can see where you are coming from. My wife often bumps her phone as it is charging on the tiny Anker wireless pad next to her bed and will wake up to her phone not fully charged. But her drive to college and the car charger makes it so it really isn't an issue (for her).

One of my cheap wireless pads supposedly has several coils - makes it easier to charge when placed | or ____ (vertical/horizontal).

Because its larger, if they made it smaller then it wouldn't be possible to charge more than 1.

I am sure some will buy it, no doubt.. I am sure those who buy it will be happy with it, no doubt. How many will buy @ $199? My guess is not many..

And that’s how wireless chargers work right now, pack as many coils as possible into as small a space as possible.

Because its larger, if they made it smaller then it wouldn't be possible to charge more than 1.

I’m sure it has to be large enough for the devices to fit on it, yes.

I don’t think they have to have a lot of people buy it, and I doubt they mind if a lot don’t. It’s a premium product.

Apart from price, three reasons this doesn’t work for me (or any charging mat):

1. Using my phone when it’s charging
2. Can’t use night stand mode on my watch
3. Have to take off my Milanese Loop strap to use it

Am I the only one that does this?

I guess my $10 pad is really $19 on Amazon.
