This is What a Smartphone With an 18,000mAh Battery Looks Like

Could this simply be a proof of concept or energizers attempt at getting into the mobile battery business?

This product is awesome. Well done!

Whoops. I mean I would like it if it was a battery case for my iPhone - I just realized it’s an android phone! Not just a power bank case. So... not so interested anymore.

Anyone here remember the pre-smartphone era when mobile phones would last a week or more on standby with something like a slim 1100mAh battery ?

I still have a Nokia 6310i that I use as a secondary *phone*.
Even after 17 years of first purchasing this phone, it's still on its original battery and still lasts over 1 week on standby, originally 2+ weeks. Battery was made in Japan. That tells you how much less quality Li-Ion batteries have today.

I do find it slightly ironic that this thing is still smaller than the phones we used to pocket perfectly happily, but suddenly we have all devolved to not be able to fit or even carry such a thing. Kind of like looking at the 3kg original iBooks, but then there are still laptop bricks for gaming. For some reason no one has been able to believably carry on phone bricks for longevity. My guess is that most don't actually need that battery life. The early Nokia days were amazing, but it seems we can't go back.

Choice is good. You clearly oppose that it seems.
Choice seems to be a foreign concept to many when it comes to smart phones. It's either Apple's way or no way. Yesterday there was a similar discussion about the Huawei folding phone. Several people, some who have posted here, just cannot fathom the idea that someone might have different needs from theirs.

Of course the ultimate aim would be for the absolute best to be a global standard, and a lot of science fiction seems to depict that, but in the meantime, competition drives innovation, something that was inescapably clear in that Huawei folding discussion. Innovating their asses. Because someone has to!

Still thinner than this phone... Well ok not technically

The problem with the comparison is adding a25mm case ads protection against damage. This device is reportedly 18mm thick, has the camera bump still, is not water or shock resistant

The device is nearly 5x the thickness just for battery. There might be done niche uses for a device such as this, but seems to be missing some key features one would also need of they also need stuck a large and heavy device
The problem with your problem is that case doesn't add any battery capacity. Furthermore many posts seem to feel that having a thick phone is something no one would accept. Yet, regardless of reason, people do it all the time. The Otterbox Defender is a very popular case.

Yeah, I updated that post to be less snarky.
Less snarky or not 18mm is still less than 25mm.

I'm really not sure what your issue is.

At no point have I said this phone is worthless or won't have use case. Yet you're doing your best effort to downplay and feel the need to "correct"anyone in this thread who might have a critical comment.

Simply put, at 18mm, with no shock protection. No water resistance. And reported mediocre specs, this phone has little going for it for the average smart phone user.

And just like a thin phone, to add those missing features of shock and water protection, a case will need to be added on top of the 18mm. What would am Otter box on this phone add to the size?

You seen to be getting quite worked up in this thread to any criticism, even if that criticism has validity.

This just adds choice to the market. Nothing wrong with that. But we're allowed to be critical

reminds me of the G5 PowerBook

This thing has no drop or water resistance rating.

It feels like a Kodak smartphone, a last gasp in attempt to remain relevant.
The kodak digital cameras were good quality and easy to use, with understandable interfaces and a nice docking feature. We got one for my mom because she doesnt like technology and she used it regularly without much help.

I doubt Energizer even spent any R&D on it. They probably went to some Chinese OEM and told them to slap their energiser brand on some no-name phone. Only question is - why? What point are you trying to prove even?
