My Computing prof told me the reason why those big and bulky black brick phones are designed so, is due to the the need for a large battery..

I saw these sizes back in the 90's. I was happy that phone was introduced because these sizes were obviously bulky! Now they are coming baackkkk! What is happening!

Some MacRumors readers and iPhone users have been wanting Apple to stop focusing on thinness to improve battery life through the inclusion of larger batteries in its devices, but Energizer's smartphone is the device that no one is asking for.

"Stop focusing on thinness"? Seems like this is the passive-aggressive answer to that request...

I think there may be a CEO (and CTO?) looking for a job soon. Some posters here mention "commercial, industrial or even military", but the article points out clearly that the device is not waterproof or ruggedized, so what with that?

what it’s worth, my XR is quite a bit thicker than the 6S it replaced, and battery life is awesome. That problem was solved—the XR is a great phone.

Dude..not to be THAT guy...but you iPhone XR is .05 inches thicker. iPhone XR .33", iPhone 6s .28". Thats quite a bit???

Please Google Blackview BV9500. I have one. 10,000mAh battery great tech specs and waterproof and drop proof. This is a joke. And the BV9500 is just a bit over $300.

No water proofing made this into a real brick. Just like the article said, people who wanted long lasting battery this big are probably those who are outdoors and away from a charger for days. Those who are in cities and have access to chargers/electrical sockets are fine with just 1-day battery life.

Doesn’t matter if it’s an article about art, politics, sports, entertainment, or technology—I feel like every day is April Fools Day now and I’m living it on repeat forever. I don’t know if we’re living in the darkest timeline, but we’re definitely living in the dumbest.

That is 17% thicker, which is not a negligible amount. It certainly feels thicker to me—noticeablely so.
Well, putting two sheets of notebook paper together results in a 100% increase in thickness, but does that really change much one way or another in reality?

I'd consider buying a Mophie battery case if it was 18,000mah and was about as thick as this thing. Or, half as thick and 10,000...
Still enough to get through a few days of usage without a charge.
