Want to try my luck at exchange. Is it worth going to a different store all together or can I go back to the same store? Are shipments batched and would likely get the same type of panel (can I buy 3 at once)?

I'd say do whichever is more convenient for you. I don't think store location matters.

GH3 on right and... GVC on left. I thought my original screen was pretty good with mild green shift but the GVC is even better. I can't hope for much better honestly considering LG.

It really feels as if most 17PM will have LG screens.
Currently have a GH3 and if I slightly move it the colours shift drastically. I also have an iPhone 12 Pro Max with a G9N screen and it’s much more comfortable to use. Colours remain consistent no matter the angle.

That can be incredibly distracting. I think Samsung screens are unicorns this year, sadly.

Picked up a couple new iPhones today:

17 Pro Max Silver 512: G9N, some brightness discrepancy and pinkish hue in bottom left of screen but overall looks good

17 Pro Silver 512: Also G9N, similar story with brightness gradient between top and bottom but the pink hue seemed a lot worse to the eye with TT/NS on

This is when looking straight on? Can you post some photos?

Decided to just try once to see if I can get a 17PM with a better screen. Sorry for the blurry image, the best my USB camera can do but my point was to show off viewing angle. Any guess on which panel type is which??

What do you mean it’s in our imagination…. Right! I would guess the right is one of the LG and mine is worse than that.

Decided to try an air for a couple weeks. The air I just got today has a slight greenish hue but not as bad as the pro max. Every single iPhone 17 in my local store had the green tint issue… the problem is definitely worse on the pro Max versus the other phones.

Got a GVC on my black 256GB Air in the US. I guessed it from first glance, but I can't say the panel is bad at all. Uniformity and overall accuracy seems fine. Maybe an eeever so slight green shift, if any. The only thing noticeably worse than my G9P 14 Pro is lower brightness when off-angle, but I only noticed this after putting on a screen protector (same brand, maybe different kind). I really don't know if it's worth pulling the lever until I got a nice samsung panel.

First thing I did at the Apple Store lol. Restoring from iCloud now. So happy this hunt is over, I told myself that today was my last attempt and voila I lucked out. And with the color I wanted. Best case scenario.

Don’t get the air2 12 months from now and go through this all over again :p resist

17P with G9N, still has green tint, but it’s less noticeable compared to 17 with GVC

These two posts right here are important reminders it is always a lottery, regardless of panel manufacturer / serial

Hi everyone. I tried to stay away from overanalyzing my screen this year. But here I am. Below I have:

• First picture (Upside down):
- (L) Silver iPhone 17PM 512GB - GVC
- (R) White iPhone 16PM 256GB - G9P

• Second picture:
- (L) White iPhone 16PM 256GB - G9P
- (R) Silver iPhone 17PM 512GB - GVC

I tried different angles and the 17PM only has the tint on an angle. I’ve had Samsung panels for the past two years and maybe I’ve been comparing to my 16PM too much but things seem a tad bit softer on the GVC. I’m torn on returning it but if I end up with another LG, I’d be disappointed.

I think the most surprising thing is that it sounds like iPhone 17 regular model pretty commonly got bad displays this go round.

That's a shame, maybe they are binning them this go round?

This is basically Apple's way of stopping Samsung Display from becoming a monopoly and charging them high prices for their screens. They are leveraging LG and BOE so that Samsung will keep the prices relatively low or else Apple would reduce their share from the supply.

Basically profits. and hoping that the consumer is too dumb to notice. If they really cared about perfection they'd invest in Samsung so that it could cater to 100% of the screens like in the old days. But no I think I saw a news article of them investing in LG Display instead.

I better get a Pro soon before LG says: "Hey Apple we have enough bandwidth to make 6.3 Pro screens, give a share to usss"

The one thing I noticed about the air is the whole screen gets uniformly green at an angle and in a less extreme manner than the 17 Pro Max, which makes it not quite as annoying. At least for the phones that I have in hand.
