I have a Silver 17 Pro Max with GVC panel, international version with nano sim. I don't see anything wrong with the display and it seems fine. But now I am getting an unnecessary feeling that I got an inferior/defective panel. Are all the GVCs bad? What are you guys doing about this now for your GVCs?

My 17 Pro 512GB has the G9P - looks great to me. Haven't seen anyone else post this panel?
17 Pro Max 512GB here and mine is the same, G9P.
Screen looks amazing.

If you don't see anything wrong with it, then it's a keeper.

Got the base 17 also with G9P. Best display I had in years.
You lucky, lucky bastard.

That’s the phone I want, but chances of getting it are so low I gave up after my first try and switched to the Air.

Unfortunately even with the Air, I keep getting duds.

I believe the general consensus is that G9Ns are pink tinted, and there are here numerous cases of this issue. G9Qs also experience this problem.

The funny thing is that ever since all those G9N/G9Q units with issues came to light — and it’s now almost impossible to deny that they have a pink tint problem — since it can’t be denied, the new narrative is that the pink tint “isn’t that big of a deal.”

I want to keep my mental health intact, so this will truly be my last message in this thread.
Samsung panels do have the pink tint. Have a G9Q panel and it exhibits this issue

I just returned my GH3 pro max 256 orange, i was debating on it but after following this forum and knowing there are good panels out there i will try my luck one more time and if i get the same bs screen i’m done

Hi everyone, I just received my iPhone 17 Pro Max (GH3) Panel. I just realised theres a horizontal line on the screen especially on white or light background. Does anyone has the same issue? Here is the image:

Spoke too soon re: my new 17PM with the GH3 panel. Minimal green shift but uniformity isn’t great. Using it side by side with my G9P it’s noticeably less vibrant which I haven’t seen before.

Returning it and done, keeping my 17PM G9P which with all things considered is pretty excellent.

To the people with a G9P-Panel:

Do you notice a very slight blue shift if you tilt the phone?
My women`s G9P has that. My G9Q doesn't.

In every other aspect both panels are very similar and miles better than the green shifting GH3.

I’m not sure if I can call it a “blue shift” on my 17PM with the G9P: it’s more of a normal off-axis falloff when the screen gets slightly dimmer. The same was on a regular 17 Pro with the G9N, which I returned after a week.

"Blue shift" is the incorrect term. More accurately stated, the white point shifts slightly, meaning the panel becomes somewhat "cooler" when tilted. The G9Q does not exhibit this phenomenon. The white point remains quite consistent regardless of the viewing angle.

I would say yes, but it happens at quite extreme angles though. Pretty much any screen starts shifting at that angle, regardless of the screen technology.

Completely normal, you are lucky to get a nice screen.

I had an iPhone 17 that I returned immediately after setting it up. I could tell even during the setup process that the screen was shifting cooler in temperature at even the slightest angle. It was some of the worst color shifting I've seen on an iPhone since the iPhone X. I didn't even bother to see what display I had, but it was clearly the bad one. I decided to just stick with my 13 Mini for now rather than play the display lottery knowing if you get a bad one, it's really not good. The screen on my 13 Mini stays uniform at even fairly extreme angles, so I'm not going to accept a downgrade from that.

I’m at the point I can tell from the Apple logo at startup.

Unfortunately that still requires opening the sealed box.

Same. My 13 mini has an impressively neutral display across a wide range of viewing angles.

How many phones have you gone through?
Four. The 17 and then three Airs. Two from Apple, two from Amazon. Three refunds still pending (Amazon will ship to my door in 24 hours but takes three weeks to do a refund. Unimpressive.)

All with the strong green shift. Frustrating when this was a solved problem since the iPhone 4. That was the point of IPS LCD panels: good viewing angles.

All three Airs were GVC when I went looking.

In fact, I’ve not even seen an Air without green shift, but I have to trust they exist. Someone in this thread said they saw three Airs with a Samsung panel. So I’m holding out for one of those.

But at some point I’ll crack and order a 17 Pro, by far my least favoured iPhone of this generation (but ALL 17 Pros I’ve seen in shops have had great displays).
