I'm going to give my 3GS to my mother, sell her 3G, and upgrade my line to 4G. It sounds confusing but my mom got a 3G for free and i got a 3GS through her line. Now when i sell her used 3G(perfect jailbroken/unlocked), ill be able to upgrade my line for a subsidized 4G. Hells yeah.

i'll wait

WWDC and see what must have features it has. Then since my upgrade eligibility isn't till nov & I understood they when I agreed to the contract. I might decide to wait till the fallowing version comes out the fallowing June. of course come Nov I might post a thread. should I keep my 3GS or upgrade to a 4G! :p

I bought the 2008 phone on day 1 with the intention of upgrading to the new one in 2010.

And that's still my plan.

My 3G and my wife's 3G are really struggling at this point with newer apps, like Navigon,, and other memory-intensive apps, along with lots and lots of dropped calls. Mine is crashing several times a day, even after rebooting. My wife's is dropping calls 3-10 times a day. AT&T is worthless when complaining, and so is Apple. So we're both just gonna tough it out till the new iPhone comes out this summer.

If the new phone is too similar to the 3GS, then we'll both just get cheap refurb 3GS's. Come'on Steve Jobs, give us an "A+ update", and not just something warmed-over (like the iPad being a warmed-over iPod Touch)!

As long as there is a 64GB phone, I am in. I'm in this till Apple stops making iPhones, I love it that much. :)

I have seen and played with Android devices, and I don't like it. I think that some day in the future, Android will be great. But for now, Apple is king IMO. I love my 3gs. But I have a 2g sitting in my desk drawer, and I plan on selling my 3gs in the next few weeks, use my 2g for a few months, and then upgrade. I can get a better price on my 3gs now, as to after they announce the new phone. So thats my plan.

And just to add this into the discussion, I love my 2g the best out of all the phones. I think it was the sturdiest handset they released and I love using it.

:D

depends

For me it depends on the annoucement. I'm due for an upgrade at the end of June. I imaigne I'll get the next edition since I currently have a 3G...

My contract ends on 7 July 2010 so I'll probably wait until the stampede is over then upgrade my 3G.

I'll probably upgrade soon after the next gen is released. Nothing wrong with my 16GB 3G, but I'm reaching the point where 32GB would be real nice, and the other 3GS improvements would be welcome (I've got my eye on a couple apps that use the compass...).

And I, for one, have had no issues with AT&T to date.

Where do you live?

They need to improve on the hardware. Improved battery and the new A4 chip are a given. If they throw in a higher resolution/bigger screen and higher pixel camera, then I'm sold. I'm getting tired of the iPhone look. It's a 3 year old look and is outdated. Hope they do some kind of unibody design like the macbooks and make it thinner. Oh and throw in 64gb storage and more RAM.

I'm happy with my iPhone 3G, which I only bought in September last year.

I refuse to enter the poor contracts on offer in the UK when for £15 per month top up on Pay & Go I get unlimited calls and texts to O2 numbers, which all my family and 99% of my friends are on.

That means the only way I'll get a new iPhone is to buy it outright again, and I'm not doing that so soon after buying my 3G.

The iPhone does not look outdated by any stretch of the imagination.

Some of the bricks being churned out by Nokia, Samsung, and Motorola are struggling to keep up with the iPhone look ... 3 years old or not.

There is no sleeker a handset than the iPhone.

buy it!

especially if it has 32 and 64gb

bl**dy quickly if it has the A4 chip within!

ps my sig is out of dat eI have a 3gs and would still be very keen on getting a new one. However, I will be getting a launch day ipad so may actually miss this rev out. Maybe ;)

i'm happy with my jailbroken 3g, but if the new iphone has some great new hardware features like hd camera, front facing etc.. then i'd probably wait till it could also be jailbroken then i'd upgrade. till then i'll stick with what i have.

If it has a better camera, I will seriously consider it (I really use the camera more than I thought I would). I bought a 3GS last June and my ATT account says I am eligible for an upgrade after one year, so I may take advantage of it.

I also am not tired of the style. I have picked up all of the other Android, BB, Palm phones and still like the look and feel of the iPhone (though the Palm Pre does fit in the hand nicely).

As long as its not a iPhone 3.5 as the 3GS was, I will buy it

3GS was not worth the upgrade.

I have to agree. I want to see a unibody enclosure and something that keeps up with the macbook pro lines. I am sick of the cheep plastic models. I want something akin to the 2g iPhone. I did not like the 3GS and I regretted it soon after upgrading to it. The camera was not worth it.

I want to see what Apple does this time, I am excited for something truly NEW

to me it would depend on what changes were made and if there was a jailbreak and unlock ready to go...other wise i will stay with my 3g and 3gs

I would like to buy one, and replace my wife's 3g with my 3gs if it's worth it. Unfortunately, the phone will probably be locked to AT&T so I might switch to an android device or buy it in Europe when I go visit my sister.

I will wait until the Dev Team has a tested, untethered jailbreak before I consider buying. Then I expect I will be able to sell my jailbroken and unlocked week 30 3GS for enough to cover the early upgrade price.

Release date?

When were the summer release dates for the previous generations. I got to choose, what is the best date to upgrade/sign a contract?

Thanks :D

I bought the 3GS on launch day last year and I'm eligible the same day a year later (this June). So I'll see what comes out!

Considering it took the 3GS for Apple to release a device that, at least I, was expecting at original launch, I'll probably pass on the next iPhone. I'd like to think that Apple will go big on the next model, but as their history is starting to show, big expectations never come true. Even moderate hopes are often let down.
