Chicago

I called all the stores in the Chicagoland area this morning and not one claims to have the Thunderbolt Display in stock. I asked one person if the displays were in, just not for sale yet. She paused and then said, "I really don't know anything". Hmmm...

Does anyone know the lcd of the manufactor (LG/Samsung) of the Thunderbolt dispaly? Who was the cinema display lcd manufactor?

Let's not go there, it's bad enough on the MBA forum ;) Although now that you've mentioned it I feel compelled to check.

I'm getting tired of phoning the Apple Store - hope there's something positive soon.

Pixmania is now listing them as avaible on the 26th Sept, which is a week later than previously. My own guess is the Apple stores will start selling them tomorrow to coincide with people starting to get deliveries from the on-line store.

Was in a local Apple Store yesterday here in Orlando with the wife (she was buying an Air) and saw several ATD's on display. Didn't inquire as to if they were available for purchase.

What store? I live in Orlando as well.

Also - are you sure it was the Thunderbolt Display and not the standard LED Cinema Display?

I can't tell you how many times in the last month and a half that someone at the Apple Store confused the Cinema Display for the new Thunderbolt Display. The first time I went in, I almost bought it too. I'm glad I checked before I did. I've called several times since then and almost every time someone says "Yes, we have it". Then I say, "Are you sure it's not the old Cinema Display?".

"Oh..."

My display, ordered Aug 10, was eventually shipped on Thu Sep 15, with a promised delivery date of Sep 17. Unfortunately it was shipped with UPS, which is not the most reliable carrier, and the delivery date slipped. However the display actually arrived at a local UPS facility Friday (Sep 16) night. I need the display for work, and every day matters. It has been sitting at that UPS facility 10 miles from where I live for two days now, and UPS plans to sit on it for another two days before finally getting it to me on Sep 20. I will be gone all day and don't feel comfortable pre-signing and having them leave the package in front of the house all day. What can I do? Can I call Apple and ask them to tell UPS that I will pick it up tomorrow (Sep 19)? Do they do that? Or will I have to wait for a failed delivery attempt before I can pick it up, finally, on Sep 21, three business days after the promised delivery?

Thanks. The problem I think might be that that shipping center, while only ten miles away, is not my most local UPS center. So I think there's one more stop on the way before it goes out for delivery. Oh well, I guess I might have to pick it up later in the week...

Congratulation! For my case, its been reach Bangkok, Thailand since Friday. So, today (Monday) I called to local DHL to ask about the progress and they said it should deliver to me on Tuesday because this order came in "Apple Bulk" and the customs has to check for the "Whole" lot before release to deliver.

Too bad!

FYI, Thailand store also declare 1-3 Business Days to ship.

Are you in the United States? I ordered on Aug 2nd and have heard nothing at all. I guess I’ll buy one at the store and cancel my pre-order. How irritating.

Dublin, Ireland 09/19/2011 10:05 A.M. A Delivery Change Request for this package will be processed. / Return to sender pending.

OMG  WTF? I've been waiting for this thing forever.

I've just had a call from Apple and my order is one of a batch affected by some logistical problem. They're trying to resolve it..

Same thing here :/

I am starting to wonder if the slow rollout of this display is due to a technical issue of the Thunderbolt technology – perhaps a rush to market. It is as if they are taking random samples of their inventory and shipping them to a handful of customers as a quality control check. We see all of the 11th hour software updates trying to get it right – are they clocking the bus down?

Ordered Aug 14
Received Shipping Notification Sep 17

It sucks to see some people have theirs. I ordered mine August 31 from MacMall and still no shipping notification. I guess the price you pay for saving $100. Hurry up! I need all of those pixels!

Still in processing!! come on Apple just ship the thing. I asked again in Newcastle Apple store yesterday and they did not know when they were getting any in, funny that last week they told me it would be last week!! something is up with this rollout!!

I asked the guy was this a product recall and he said they were scrambling to find out what was going on themselves. As far as he knew if was a logistical problem with UPS. So hopefully it isn't a batch of lemons.
