The top selling model of the most popular smartphone in the world is a flop? Interesting

The iPhone X was a flop and is being discontinued. You won’t see a $999 phone in this year’s lineup.

Of course Tim is speaking Apple speak. What do you expect him o say, yeah, our test phone sucked? I mean, really...

Lol no. It just means all of the other models combined outsold the x

I guess you don't comprehend the numbers. ASP is dropping, ergo, X sales are dropping. It may still be outselling the other models but its pickup rate IS dropping faster than the others. Cooks numbers support that, but he can't come out and say that in lay terms.

During today's earnings call covering the second fiscal quarter of 2018, Apple CEO declined to provide specific information on iPhone X sales, but he did suggest that the new device has been selling well, a major contrast to reports that have suggested poor sales and waning orders.

For 1st quarter of 2018, iPhone average selling price was $797.

For 2nd quarter of 2018, iPhone average selling price was $728.54.

That means higher priced iPhones (i.e. iPhone X) selling less than lower priced iPhones.

Smart move today, iPhoneX, Watch, Macbook, all done. Skip the iPad. Times are changing, Apple not as dumb as they sometimes appear.

I think the critics have never owned iPhone X because that's the only way you can criticise it - pure blind envy.

I've owned an iPhone X twice (returned it twice). I'm glad you like the phone, but its not one that I enjoy. I find it too large, FaceID did not work as reliably as TouchID, its running iOS 11, and I can't justify $1k for a phone that I don't love.

I'm currently using iPhone SE with iOS 10.3.3.

Beginning of the end, actually. If they don’t turn Apple around. I don’t care what their sales are or what their current cash on hand is. I’m talking about the psychology of business and what will slowly, gradually, but assuredly kill Apple in 5-10-15 years. 2/3 of their profit comes from the iPhone and other services revolve around working for or with the iPhone. That’s not good.

Their iPad line is bloated and makes no sense, the Macs haven’t been refreshed in years. Despite the successes, Apple has really stalled under Cook. People should be petrified!

Better last me a decade Cook.

Designed to last no longer than 36m

With iPhone ASP this quarter at $728 it is obvious that iPhone X was not more popular than iPhone 8. They count iPhone 8 and iPhone 8+ separately. If they had two iPhone X sizes that would make sense (and they both would probably lose to their iPhone 8 counterparts). So, iPhone X is not the most popular model. iPhone 8 is.

By a large margin. :apple:

Just used my iPhone 7+ for 20 day backcountry river trip. Thinking about stocking up on iPhone 8 for music, photography, and GPS for remote work. X doesn’t cross my mind.

Of course, TouchId won’t work for me for another month until my fingers heal. Could see the advantages of Face ID. But the design of the X — just like iOS — is overly precious.

Gee, Gruber is such an arrogant manchild emotionally invested in a mega corporation -- its hilarious! He's a bad look for Apple imo,

Check out his latest blogpost on-
daringfireball.net

"So much for all that horsesh*t about iPhone X sales being disappointing — average sales price for iPhones is way up year-over-year."

scroll down a little, from merely days ago:

"
SAMSUNG SEES SLOW DEMAND FOR OLEDS USED FOR APPLE’S IPHONE X "

"
Starting to sound like iPhone X sales really are falling short of expectations. You often can’t judge iPhone sales from the perspective of a component maker, because Apple could have switched to another company for the same component. But these flexible OLED displays only come from Samsung. Apple reports earnings for the first calendar quarter on Tuesday."

When he isn't busy rambling about politics like a CNN jockey, he's contradicting himself.
PRICELESS :D I only kinda keep up with what he's spewing for the raw entertainment value

Gruber is the new Ming. ;)

Given that there was no new Low End iPhone SE to generate a stir at the lower end of Apple's price range offerings and Apple started to replace batteries on older phones for those on a budget, I think a drop of the ASP from 796$ to 728$ is rather significant.

Personally I don't think it's a flop. But I don't think it's selling like hot cakes either.

It's too early to get a clear picture.

Of course the iPhone X numbers dropped from the 1st quarter. The 1st quarter is when the iPhone X was released, plus it was the holiday season.

And there is nothing strange with a lower average sales price (ASP) while at the same time the more expensive iPhone X became the most sold model.

But, it does seem to indicate that while the iPhone X gained in units sold, so did the cheaper models (iPhone SE, 6S, 6S Plus, and 7) at the expense of the other expensive models (iPhone 7 Plus, 8 and 8 Plus).

How silly you look. No matter how much you write, how much caps you use, or how many words you bold — the iPhone X will be a success.

Just being out and about in the city I see tons of X’s, I don’t have to take cook’s word that it sold well.

Keep trying, tho.

lol I used almost no caps, barring CNN where thats where its usually seen vs. cnn lower cased, and where I write, RIDICULOUS ... except where I copied and pasted what's directly on gruber's blog quite literally, that link to the samsung display thing.

Im not rooting against iPhone X, I own one. The sales numbers speak on their own, they don't affect me one way or another-- and I don't really have skin in the game. Tho since this is personal to you and you are dying to find out, my take is that I'm happy for Apple but more specifically the team behind it. Honestly,

...I'm just ridiculing Gruber for being a flip flopping man baby. I can do that.

I love the defensiveness, tho.

That too is, here come the caps, brace yourself, it might be too much: HILARIOUS:D

Perhaps it is you who should keep trying

Also-

"No matter how much you write"

...Really?

Thanks for ridiculing the fact that I do submit posts on this forum too, like I see you doing as well. Sic burn bro.
