I'll say this right at the onset: Tim Cook needs to give his left liberal political pandering since November 2016 a bloody effing break. I'm an immigrant from India myself, I currently work for Apple from Germany, I have family in the USA, and before Tim blindly starts defending Dreamers, he needs to read this: https://cis.org/Mortensen/DACA-Gran...mitting-Crimes-While-Abandoning-Their-Victims.

I support some of President Trump's policies and I believe that DACA should be reformulated from the ground up instead of being nullified.

Having said that, Tim Cook of late hasn't ceased downright disgusting me. We get it that Tim is a die-hard Hillary Clinton fan but he just can't seem to be able to keep his head out of politics.

KKK, Nazis, white supremacsists are vile, demented creatures—there's no defending ANYTHING they stand for. But where are Cook's Twitter condemnations and fundraising against rabidly hateful and intolerant leftist groups like Antifa, who (quite literally!) burn down every single free speech rally at college campuses without a single consequence?

What happens to his voice when Islamists openly urge for a Jewish genocide in America in the name of "freeing Palestine"?!

Where is this coward when cop-killing BLM groups conduct riots, vandalize local businesses, loot, destroy for months in a row during the 2-term presidency of a black man!?

In which hole in the ground does Tim Cook hide when rabid feminists take the stage—physically or on mainstream media—and demand the systematic suffering of men, especially white males in America?

As a brown man that has seen plenty of these pseudoliberals in my own country, there's nothing worse than a duplicitous, hypocritical COWARD with connections to influence, and tons of cash to spend toward their own agenda.

Tim, take your private jet and come see the state of Germany after it took in 3 million undocumented immigrants. Roam around Düsseldorf for a while, then take a flight to Paris and then drop in at Rome after that. Maybe what you will witness will help you SHUT your mouth and have you consider focusing on your goddam job again.

Jesus! Straight out of the Breitbart playbook. There are valid reasons to shutdown DACA which was a band-aid solution in the first place. But your arguments have to be the most inane bunch of irrelevant points I've ever read.

#1 You don't follow politics much do you? Politico is a BLOG, not a news source. 2 sources from them could mean the White House gardener and his son or just Politico's left wing people themselves, with the expertise to be familiar with his thinking. HAHA!

#2 Trump ran during his entire campaign against DACA and Obama & Clinton. If he goes through with ending it, he will only be fulfilling a campaign promise that got him elected over his opponents in the first place.

#3 Now if he changes his mind and course out of sympathy or some noble reason, you will still hate him anyway.

Conclusion: You have a lopsided mentality or maybe he's just good at driving you crazy? :D
Lol. Trump doesn't drive me crazy. That's just how he is.

Lol. Trump doesn't drive me crazy. That's just how he is.

I could live with being a billionaire who's crazy and President of the United States.

The fact that people believe that is possible makes you crazy, not him.

I have several liberal relatives who were literally hospitalized when Trump won. They deny he was the cause, but there were no other medical causes found other than increased stress.

So what am I stuck with? Do I buy them Antifa hoodies and ski masks for Christmas? :D

I'm amazed and disgusted by how many people here want to send dreamers back to the countries they came from.

Do you not realize that these people were brought here as children? That they do not know any life other than that which they've lived here? They have all their connections here and have absolutely nothing at home?

How would you like it if you were removed from the US and sent to a country where you have NO connections, NO job prospects, nothing? That's exactly what it would be like for them.

This isn't about the letter of the law. This is about compassion for fellow human beings who would have their lives needlessly ruined by sending them back to a place they don't even know. Why is compassion for our fellow man missing in so many people? How does it hurt you to let them stay?

This is precisely about the letter of the law.

You are absolutely right. If I were in the exact same situation, it would suck for me. And that is precisely why we have laws stating exactly how this sort of situation ought to be handled. So that when the time does come and when we are faced with this exact same situation, we can execute our duties impartially and not let our emotions and feelings affect our judgement and get in the way of doing what needs to be done.

If you feel that a particular law is unjust or unreasonable, then petition to have it changed. But as it currently stands, the law is what it is and it is well within the government's right to enforce it.

You don't have to like the law; you just need to respect it.

If it's "only" 250 employees, Tim should just set them up financially before sending them home. I mean hey, that's just pocket change for him!

Anyway, I wanted to respond to a few thoughts on the first few pages. I promise I'll be brief...

Surely these Dreamers were/are underage, so had no control over where their parents took them...
Sorry, this doesn't matter. Many of these "Dreamers" have done nothing in the last 5 years to earn their citizenship. Their parents, if they really LOVED their children, would have pressured them to get their citizenship. This will be a hard lesson, but it should be learned by ALL, including the lazy Congress who has done nothing to reform immigration in all these years.

no 1 this is a fake photo.

no 2 Illegal is illegal, there are processes that could make them legal.

no 3 Law should be changed, born children in USA should not get American nationality, on the other hand this means more money for the state.

1. It's too good to be fake!
2. The Congress needs to fix immigration.
3. I agree, no more "anchor babies".

But I say we take it a couple steps further: Make EVERYBODY earn their citizenship by performing military service for a certain number of years, and make them KEEP earning it by paying taxes until they reach retirement age or become too unstable to keep a job. Everybody pays something, every year. If you can't pay because you can't hold a job, then you lose the right to vote until you get caught up on your taxes. Then (and only then), I would be in favor of making drugs legal.

They have to go back.
Yes they do. This is the right thing to do.

Surprising that America has 800,000 of these young people covered by DACA. Almost a million illegal immigrant children living within its borders.
You're right; that's a lot and it needs to be fixed.

Ya know, that's a lot of potential jobs being taken away from Americans by DACA. It gives these people a waiver to work as if they were legal. So ya know.. I can see Trumps point about wanting to get rid of it, it would open up many positions for American legal citizens and he has to serve those people.

For sure I feel bad for these young people being dragged to America by their parents and having to live the life of an illegal immigrant but that's life. On the bright side they have had access to some American education and can take that back to their own countries (I'm assuming most of them are from Mexico).
You make an excellent point about having access to an American education. But if it was a government education, I worry if we won't be sabotaging their countries when they go home and can't deal with life.

Okay, that last comment was a little trollish.:p But our government education SUCKS so badly (especially in some of our large, (ahem) liberal cities), it could be used as a secret weapon against our enemies! So sue me if you wish, but if your kids don't know what the Constitution and Bill of Rights are, then please send them to a real school! ;)

I hate how CEO's feel the need to speak out about politics. Just stick to making good products, it's not like you don't have offices in other countries.
Apple's products cannot be extracted from their brand. Their brand is full of liberal values that most of their users subscribe to. Maybe you should change your brand loyalty instead of asking Tim to change his company's actual brand?

Their parents gambled on the future and came to the US. You win some, you lose some. If the Democrats wanted they could have pushed an amnesty through, but didn't.

All you Democrats and Latinos should be asking "why."

You say they should be naturalized. Great! Now go tell Trump that because he has not stated he would ask for legislation that allows them to become naturalized. DACA came about because BO couldn’t get Congress off their asses to address the issue. And guess what? Neither will Trump

Why only Latinos???? There are plenty of Lilly white people who are here illegally also.

They employ 2 million people in America alone (according to a Macrumors article I read a few weeks ago) so he's using his company to influence policy that effects 0.01% of his work force? This clearly isn't a policy that effects Apple that much, so the huge issue here is that a corporation is trying to use their money and popularity to influence public policy. I think we should get big business out of politics, don't you?
So if Cook was trying to change public policy for 1 disbaled Apple employee for example, that would be worse? What's the difference how many people are involved? Of course he's trying to influence public policy with money, the same way Trump does. Cook might have liberal values you don't agree with but no one (not even Trump supporters) believes for a second that Trump would ever put the U.S. before his own family and own company. It's sad when I trust a corporation's values more than the President of my own country but that's what setting the bar so low will get you.

my thoughts go to the good people among these undocumented immigrants I hope they will find a better and a permanent solution I wish no luck for thugs and criminals

I bet you still buy the goods and services from the contractors and farms that hire them though.

And what does that have to do with the price of tea in china?
OMG!!! The (country X) has a strict immigration policy. Don't buy from them.
OMG!!! This contractor uses illegal immigrants. ICE please.
OMG!!! This company uses DACA personnel. Okay.

DACA was not a permanent solution.
What has Apple done to help their DACA personnel become legalized?
If Tim whining about it is all he is doing ... sad.

Actually 2 million according to macrumors, and this DACA change would effect exactly 0.01% of those employees. You're literally proving my point.

Get business money out of politics.
[doublepost=1504474914][/doublepost]
Well the article is about a twitter post from a left wing troll, not surprising right wing trolls would also comment. I am however surprised this thread isn't marked for politics, probably would be more civil if it were.

Get business money out of politics, haha, good one!

Also, Tim can have a voice for himself. He can be a CEO but he’s also human and an American citizen.

Aren't all Americans illegal immigrants in a way? Why was it okay hundreds of years ago? Hypocrites.

My ancestors were kicked out of the Rheinland-Pfalz by Cardinal Richelieu, came in a boat to New York, signed an oath of loyalty to the king, and Penn gave him a nice farm out in Indian country. 200 acres. He thought he was king.

#250 Apple employees

Tell that to the carnival barker you made president, okay?

Him personally? Sure. But he's using the company to gain influence over public policy and I think the world would be a far better place if business' money stayed out of politics, don't you?

if you want business to stay out of politics then why do you support Trump. A businessman who campaigned on the platform that he could run the country like a business, a man who has not yet proven he removed himself from his businesses and he's not making money off his trips to his resorts.

They should be deported along with the criminals who brought them over/gave birth to them over here.

Isn't it amazing? You can't really argue these things with Trump supporters as they typically don't even understand the actual facts of the issue at hand. It's like they can't even make it to square one before they've formed an opinion.

If we deport them, we are punishing them for what their parents did.

If we give them legitimate citizenship, we are (in a sense) rewarding their parents for breaking the law and spitting in the faces of every other immigrant who went through the proper channels to become a US citizen. Will this encourage more people to try the same stunt?

No easy solution to this, IMO.

I'm a "dreamer" though zero credit to my current employer , 100% credit to my mother.

Feel free to tell us Tim, what apple does for immigrants like my mother when the arrive , and not for individuals like myself who are companies employ once they are educated and the hard work has been done, reality we are just a resource.
