I think Apple is working on Mac-iOS in order to use ARM chips in laptops and Mac Mini's.
And that will be the end of Apple. Software houses are not going to rewrite all of their code again.

Out of date is more functional than consumer grade. Are you asking why people are complaining that Apple is asking premium prices for out date computers?
Why would they need to? Simply recompile against the latest Apple frameworks that support mac os on ARM and off you go. It's totally possible to write frameworks now that compile for both OS', I've done it myself. And that will be the end of Apple. Software houses are not going to rewrite all of their code again.
Just the same. let me know when everything has been fixed, like around ".5" or ".6".I've installed it on three minis, a mac pro, an iMac and two MacBook pros with nary a problem.
Regardless, GM is release version wether it runs well on your machine or not.
that's a segue to a different discussion...developers need to test against latest OS', it's just part of the job.Just the same. let me know when everything has been fixed, like around ".5" or ".6".
Apple doesn't pay me to be a Beta tester.
You mean to say the Mac Pro with its outdated architecture is more functional than a recent PC server packing more cpus, more RAM, and more powerful GPUs? How so?Out of date is more functional than consumer grade.
No, I mean that a cMBP is more functional than an rMBP.You mean to say the Mac Pro with its outdated architecture is more functional than a recent PC server packing more cpus, more RAM, and more powerful GPUs? How so?
I thought that was a "Given".Are you asking why people are complaining that Apple is asking premium prices for out date computers?
I am actually quite surprised that people haven't taken up my challenge to explain why they need new machines, other than they don't like paying for older technology, even when it is just as capable.
A few thoughts on this....
- Current Macs, even those 2, 3, 4 years old are still exceptional machines that outperform mid-to-high range Windows computers any day of the week (not talking clock speed, but general productivity and problem-free operation). So there's no urgency for an upgrade that will satisfy an unmet need other than having the latest and greatest.
- Apple is definitely distracted by iOS, both software and hardware, and it's clear to see why. The future is mobile. But the Mac remains an integral part of Apple's operations. Can you imagine them designing the next iPhone on a Windows computer? No. But I do take Tim's response with a grain of salt. How intimate is he with the Mac, the user experience? I've observed issues that have persisted for months or years, with complete silence and inaction from Apple.
- People that email Tim directly are ... (blip).
Are you asking why people are complaining that Apple is asking premium prices for out date computers?
that's why they have the OS beta program now.. so you don't have to be a beta tester upon initial release..Just the same. let me know when everything has been fixed, like around ".5" or ".6".

Maybe Tim meant stay "tuned" as in the next upcoming Apple Music features. I'm glad Eddie cue went missing during keynotes.
I won't speak for the nMP, but as for an oMP, if you want to run OSX (Mac OS, Kitties, State Parks, whatever), then yes.You mean to say the Mac Pro with its outdated architecture is more functional than a recent PC server packing more cpus, more RAM, and more powerful GPUs? How so?
Here's an idea, release a system when it's a real improvement and it's bulletproof, not because you think a workstation is a phone, or you have a "Dog and Pony Show" to attend.that's why they have the OS beta program now.. so you don't have to be a beta tester upon initial release..
they're releasing a new OS every year these days.. in the past, it was every 2 years which is the mindset you're seemingly still adhered to..
previously:
-new OS released
-wait 8 months for bugs to be worked out.. often via users using the official release.
- update around V.5
now:
- voluntary public beta testing
- new OS release
- update when you've got the all-clear from your software devs regarding compatibility issues.. around V.0 or V.1
Apple Management.as opposed to?
Are you asking why people are complaining that Apple is asking premium prices for out date computers?
i used to be surprised by that too.. especially in the mac pro forum.
but yeah, you just aren't going to find one of these negativeNancys around here saying they neeeeeed more horsepower then go on to explain why..
the only software they actually use is geekbench etc..
if you want informed/real-world usage conversations about hardware and/or increasing personal productivity, you'll likely find this type of talk in various professional software forums. go figure..
Cook should be forced to read all 900+ pages of the "Waiting for Skylake Thread" as punishment.![]()
I have a bad feeling Apple is moving into the phase of only updating Mac computers that have built-in screens.
AKA, no more mac-mini and no Mac Pro updates
I hope they don't get rid of the headphone jacks in all new macs, cuz you know, they have courage.
