Ugh, American Football looks dreadful even with the best cameras.

I'm forced to agree with the haters a little though - they're not the sharpest pictures I've ever seen, but then it looks like we're not seeing them at full resolution, even when following the link.

I'd love to know why the GPS EXIF data puts this photo in China...

It was SUPER windy!

Question come to my mind... Are we buying a phone or camera? Why should we become so picky with the phone camera? As long as it's good, or very good that should be enough for us, then we share those pictures in lossy compressed format through WhatsApp, Facebook, twitter etc which make them imperfect again - which happen to most people with their pictures captured by phone. Why do we need a phone with perfectly good anyway?
Based on these pics???

I suspect that if MR posted the same pics, without saying what phone they came from, many posters would be confused, and not sure if to hate or love them.

People are buying for phones just as much for the phone as the built in camera these days. People don't really buy regular cameras much anymore so the cameras in phones are judged more critically. The built in camera is one of the biggest features these days.

Yeah, that could be the reason. This is like we are trying to solve another 20% which requires 80% efforts in pareto principles though :)

For now, after i saw the pictures from the 7 Plus dual camera, it didn’t convince me to convert to a giant Phablet if i was in the market for new phone.

On the other hand i would like to see comparison between the pictures of the 7, 6s & SE.

way to push a camera to the limit by taking pictures in bright daylight.......this is like saying your the best in math by showing how you can add 1 + 1
Sun at zenith (see the shadows size) is very bad condition to take photo. It generate very strong contrast with overblown highlights and deep shadows.

These look like snapshots anyone could snap with a 5-year-old smartphone if they had access to the sidelines.

But since they're done with an iPhone then they're magical.

I Agree. Not very Wow enducing for the first released photos taken with the iphone 7. I mean one of the biggest reasons for updating to this phone is supposedly the cameras....and these pics?...um...kinda meh.

Wow, looking at the ESPN photos you can really start to see what the 2X Zoom makes possible. I'm surprised those overly sharpened images of the football were released when these are so good!

Some ESPN pictures look good but overall feeling is weird. Bright colors are oversaturated, whites are blown out, skin tones look unnatural and it feels like some kind of smart blur is applied. Something funky is going on inside that camera.

It is possible for Apple to include the same dual camera system in the 4.7" model or does the smaller size actually prevent this?

Yeah - I dunno why they didn't do this. I mean, they've already removed the headphone port - why did they stop there? - They should have just gone ahead and removed the lightning port too, then they'd have plenty of room for the second camera.

Those skin tones look unnatural? These look like some of the most life-like candid's I've ever seen.

Tim Cook and Co messed up again by letting Sports Illustrated post 1.3MP low resolution photographs. Most people don't realize that they are looking at low quality pictures and will base their decisions on that. You can't run a technology company by dinosaurs.

I like this one even better. But why give us these compressed shots. I want to see the full, big, beautiful photo. Would make a great screen saver.

They had to get rid of the headphone jack to include optical image stabilization. A dual camera system is much bigger. I can't imagine how this could fit.

And I get the feeling if someone said these came from the Galaxy S7 or Note people here would be praising them and that Apple has a long way to go to catch up. ;)
