Congrats to those with "Prepared for shipment" status...

Any sign / info regarding in-store availability in the US ?

Congrats to those with "Prepared for shipment" status...

Mine just changed to "Prepared for shipment" as well. Ordered early Feb - going to Boston, MA.

My guess is that they all ship on Friday as planned.

I'm betting they are in retail stores next week on Wed or Thurs...

Things have usually arrived at the apple stores before preorders recieve their boxes.

I cannot wait to hear some first impressions!! Let us know when you get your units!

So why haven't they shipped the damn things yet if they're all ready to go? And why is the expected delivery time so long?

All very strange.

Just talked to another apple store- they still "have no idea". If they're really going to have them in by February, wouldn't they know by tomorrow if they were going to have them on the shelves by Friday?

Mine is preparing for shipment also. It should be here in just a couple of days. I'll let you know. I'm hoping to use it to store my tv shows and sync it with my apple tv to not take up room on my macbook air. :D

From what I've read, Apple stores get deliveries multiple-times throughout the day, every day except Sunday. Apple pushes products to the stores, so the stores don't know what they're getting until its there.

DHL could be scheduled to drop off a load of Time Capsules Friday PM and the stores wouldn't know they were getting them until they received the delivery.

I wonder if that's totally true. As I was waiting for the MBA to first come in I buddy-ed around with the inventory specialist at one store. He seemed to have some idea of what stock was slated to arrive although he would not guarantee the date (he missed his guesstimate by a day). That said, I don't think that any of the regular reps knew about stock at all until they actually showed up.

Why not just buy an external hard drive? It sounds like that is what you really want.

Honestly, I don't know what they could really be rushing with the TC. The TC is pretty much just a AEBS with a hard drive in it and some software that gives it additional features. It's nowhere near as complicated as an iPhone or Leopard, or even the new multi-touch trackpad.

I agree, doesn't make sense.

Usually most Apple store stock comes FedEx from what employees have said, and some UPS, but mainly all arrive compiled with fedex.

dhl only handles parts, like when you send back parts to apple, its primarily dhl they send you labels for.

and usually the retail stores dont know anything until the day before or the day of even, to usually keep everyone on the same level, i guess its fair and make senses that customers get first knowledge and dibs before employees.

I've been hearing early March. I suggest going to your local Apple store and just asking them when they'll get them in.

Sorry dude, I don't agree w/ your statement about going to your local Apple Store. Apple Store peps won't tell you the 411 until after the fact. You're better off getting that here. Isn't that why you're looking here anyway?

And to those who have guts and ordered, congrats to those with "Prepared for shipment" status...

I think everyone in the USA that has ordered from the official Apple web site has their order status changed to "prepared for shipment" now. It would seem everything is a go for Feb 29th at this time. However, those that didn't order from there may have to wait a little more. Also, those overseas it seems will be at least 4-6 weeks behind the USA in terms of when they will get them.

Ordered - Feb 1, 2008 at 03:23 AM PST
Prepared for shipment.
Ships by Feb 29, delivers by Mar 6

Ordered February 25th showed up prepared for shipment this afternoon and my credit card was charged.

I wasn't going to order one and go with a different HD, but I'm an Apple junkie now so I caved and ordered one yesterday.

Anyway, mine is also showing "Prepared for shipment" with a ship date of this Friday listed.

TC status still hasn't changed here in aus. The store still says "Ships in 3-4 weeks", which it's been saying for at least a month.

I ordered mine on feb 21, and it's still saying "Not yet shipped", with this below it:
Ships by: 20/03/2008
Delivers by: 26/03/2008

:(

And that just adds a little insult to injury considering what we pay here - the 1TB model is AUD$699, which with the current exchange rate is USD$660 :( :(
