Mine still hasn't shipped...but my Leopard didn't ship til like the day before and I still had it on release day.

Anyone else's still say "Prepared for Shipment?"

I'm still "Prepared for Shipment." I ordered the minute it was available for pre-order, the 1TB model. Hope it ships soon, would be nice to be able to set it up and play with it over the weekend. I'd selected the expedited shipping.

Mine still says "prepared for Shipment" - ordered early Feb. 1TB model

Mine is also "Prepared for shipment"... 1TB with expedited shipping... Is it possible that apple is delaying the "expedited shipping" orders so everyone will get them on the same day? Also, anyone with a 1TB model that has shipped?

L.

Why would they delay expedited shipping so you can receive it the same day? Don't you pay more $ for expedited shipping so you can get it faster?

I put in my order for the time capsule the day it was announced. If I found out you can't partition the HDD to use it as a home server.... back to the store it goes!

Mine left the FEDEX ramp at 2:31AM, 2-29-08. { remember, they are one day ahead of the USA ... or most of one day, if you really want to be accurate }

Normally this means it goes into customs, that takes a few hours, then onto the two daily FedEx flights from Shanghai to Ancorage Alaska, then for me, to Indianapolis, to Pittsburgh to home.

Normally it is about a day and a half after it gets on the plane in China till things show up at the front door.

Given that, if things go as they normally do, Saturday morning should see the unit here, if not, then Monday if there is a delay somewhere.

I find it SO DARNED COOL, to be able to actually track ONE BOX from the factory to my front door, ISN"T IT GREAT to be living when we are, really!? Who would have believed ANY of this could be possible even ten years ago? Gosh, at age 59, I have seen things go from black and white TV with three stations with rabbit ears, to this. Amazing times we live in.

Its good to see that some are shipping. I unfortunately bought mine from amazon to save the cash on taxes and shipping....

Anyone know an estimate as to when other retailers might get them? Do products from apple usually get shipped to those who order through apple first and then the other retailers? Or does everyone get the products at the same time?

I'd love to be able to pick one of these up tomorrow since I have to take my MBP in to the Apple Store. I'm crossing my fingers that they'll be some in tomorrow. More than likely they'll be in stores next week, I'd be shocked if they're in tomorrow or even this weekend.

You do pay more... But knowing Apple, it's possible that they don't want the units delivered before a certain date... Something like the Leopard release...
Just a guess...

My 1TB Time Capsule still says "Prepared for Shipment". I actually just want to cancel the order. Is this still possible?

I figured I just get a much cheaper internal drive for my Mac Pro as a backup device and get an AirPort Extreme separately.

No. You'll have to call and get return labels emailed to you, and then send it back once you receive it.

Once an order is in "Prepared for Shipment" status it's treated as though the shipping process has started.

Best Buy's are showing them in stock at my local stores.

This is a change from yesterday when they weren't available for pickup.

Yea but once you get it in your cart it won't let you purchase it. Maybe its still too early in the day. But all the Bestbuy stores in my area are showing them in stock as well.:apple:

i'm trying to decide between the 500 GB and 1 TB.

does anyone know if it will backup a MBP and a portable hard drive? i know it will do multiple computers but i keep all my files off my hard drive.

i agree with whoever said the sizes seem small. it would be great to upload my entire cd collection, my aperture library, movies, TiVo/Toast downloads, genealogy files, movie transfer files, etc. without having to worry the drives would fill up.

i would love it if i could chuck my current linksys router in the trash where it belongs and use the Time Capsule to connect my TiVo to the internet. that's not possible, right?

i'm wondering if i should be looking at eSATA instead, also. any opinions?

i'm probably not understanding the capabilities of this thing. wishlist thinking, i guess.

Still prepared for shipment on mine... strange. Apple had a hold on my card too, but that's gone as of earlier this week.

So Brand, you wanted to know why... As of today in BB ad as follows

Linksys Wireless-N Router $130
WD 1 TB Data Storage $260
Net $390
bottom line $500-390= 110 hence ~100 over. NOW you know.;)

Any ways, my local BB's have it in the ad and no mention of OOS or available on 02/xx/2008 date. As they did for Janet's new album available Tuesday...

Hope its right:) but I doubt it.

OMG, that is so stupid, how could this possibly compare? So you a Linksys router together with a WD 1TB and together they are $110 less than Apple's 1TB Time Machine.
Let's see, in terms of power consumption I have to plug in the LinkSys, I have plug in the WD then I have to connect the WD to the Linksys plus I have to connect the Linksys to my cable modem, all of this equals more electricity being used plus wires, wires, wires.
Time Capsule gets me a fully supported AIO solution from ONE company (which is the same company that supports my OS) plus it requires only one wire to plug it in and one wire to my cable modem. $110 overpriced??NO.

Help yourself to the first solution if you wanna be a cheapskate and be inconvenienced, I'll take the second one.:p

You can't return it at the store?

That I don't know. It varies from company to company. Some will let you order online and return in store, others force you to return something purchased online via mail. I haven't had to return something to Apple that I've bough online yet.

Not to mention built in OS support for the drive as a Time Machine backup device.

I don't know why folks are constantly trying to show me supposedly cheaper alternatives that turn out to be more time consuming than just buying Apple stuff. Like the previous poster, I'm interested in Time Machine because it's one-stop shopping.
