Go buy an Android device... You'll get everything you want. Different choices, new phones every 3 days... Oh and don't forget the 4G network that will destroy your battery.
Enjoy.
Why are people mad that they release new phones all the time?

Why is having new phones released constantly a bad thing? Does it make you feel better knowing that your iPhone will be the best iPhone for a full year? I honestly don't believe this line of thinking seeing as how a large amount the posts on this forum are constantly talking about what features they want to see in the next iPhone. If people were satisfied it wouldn't matter.
Well, for one it means developers will most likely only be developing for those new phones so pretty quickly your phone won't be supported. Personally, I like having a phone that is mostly supported for 2 years (it wasn't until the 4 came out that you really started see apps the 3G wouldn't run only cause it wouldn't run the new OS).
I could care less how much better my hardware is if there isn't much software I want to run for it. What good is hardware on a computer without software to run? I personally enjoy the fact that at least for two years I can pretty much run the software coming out for my phone (it also means developers for the iphone have a lot of customers even just programming for the newer iphones that can buy their stuff, more tempting for the developers as well as being nice for the customers that they can be sure their phone will support apps for about 2 years).
And that is if the developers want to deal with so many different hardware requirements (which means they actually get less audience than with the iphone cause while there may be more phones out there, they either have to really compromise their software to accomodate the older phones with a lot of different hardware requirements or make the software run smoother but on far less phones cause it is only aimed at certain hardware).
Even Google has acknowledged the many differences in phones is getting to be a problem.
Tried my friends Verizon Thunderbolt LTE phone. Used it heavily on LTE. Used it from 630am-1pm. Phone ran out of battery life. This was heavy use but still unacceptable. And carrying extra battery or charger around is unacceptable. The Evo 4G was almost just as bad. Out of battery by 3pm.
With iPhone 4 under heavy use I am still at 30% when I am done with work around 5-6pm. iPhone 4 can make it through a work day with heavy user. LTE or WiMax phones cannot unless you decrease your level of use.
That's why Apple is passing this year on LTE.
iPhone 4 still has the best battery performance life of all the high end touchscreen smartphone out there.
Apple will release a 4G iPhone when 4G speeds are truly 4G. LTE is specified as AT LEAST a download rate of 50 Mbps going all the way to 100 Mbps. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that LTE speeds are at best 20 Mbps currently. How can they even get away with calling that 4G?
Don't really know or care what Apple does with Macs, but is any one else moving on to other smartphones because Apple is determined to keep behind in technology? Of course the iPhone would be a full year behind on 4G just so they can "save" that as new feature for the 2012. That is all Apple does...release phones with outdated specs so then adding them later and calling it in upgrade when it has been other phones for ages. Just like the excuse of not having Flash...who cares if it will be obsolete soon if we still need it to browsing webpages today? /endrant
Pretty sure you are wrong. Verizon LTE is legit. AT&T has a bum version of 4G though.
Check any tests that have been done on the Thunderbolt. They all average between 9-12 Mbps and Verizon advertises 20 Mbps at best. I don't think "legit" suffices. Calling this 4G or LTE is false advertising.

This argument comes up every year usually immediately after release of the next gen iPhone when 'missing' features are identified--hasn't seemed to hurt Apple yet. Apple is rarely if ever about cutting edge, rather putting the emphasis on do what they do well. You want bleeding edge with that ability to customize to your hearts content--go have fun trying Android. Also enjoy carrying around an extra battery and/or charger that you're going to need halfway through the day after browsing flash based websites using LTE, if you have coverage, at it.
As someone else said, don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way out--hopefully a few less trolling threads to navigate through.
Also, just visited the Verizon wireless website for the first time in ages to see how many 4G capable smartphones are out (all 2 of them) and had a nice laugh when I saw how they categorized their devices. Under Phones, your choices are iPhone, then Smartphones, then feature phones. Under Internet device, first choice is iPad, then Tablets. They don't even have their newer 4G devices listed the third line of the subsequent page, after the various iPhones, the Droid 2, and the preorder for the SE Xperia Play. So where do you think Verizon is expecting the most interest?
OK Great. Still much faster than 3G. What's your point? I'm sure when Apple has it on the iPhone you won't mind.
