Go buy an Android device... You'll get everything you want. Different choices, new phones every 3 days... Oh and don't forget the 4G network that will destroy your battery.

Enjoy.

Why are people mad that they release new phones all the time?

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. aha jk.

But in all seriousness; the iPhone is definitely the best smartphone out there. It may not have 4G or flash, but it has great battery life, tons of support & apps, gorgeous screen, splendid camera, and an OS that just WORKS. I love it.

I like my iPhone. If I hadn't I wouldn't have gotten another. If you want something not invented yet just go sit on the corner and wait for it. But you will have to ask someone to use an iPhone if you need anything.

You cant use mine!

For me, I'm just getting sick of the size and weight of the damn thing. A nano version would be just fine for me, but I ain't holdin' my breath for one on the horizon.

You're indignation is duly noted. Apple has clearly dropped the ball and the iPhone is no longer relevant. They probably won't be able to give them away in a few more months.

You are totally justified in leaving iPhone since it no longer meets your desires and needs. Enjoy smartphone nirvana in the land of Android or WM7.

I think iOS software needs more modifications than the hardware. This gives hope that Apple will improve the last few things that it needs to in the software area.

Most hardware is usually outdated within a few months anyway. An average user can buy only one every 2 years which potentially means he spends atleast a good year looking at other improved hardware, whether it is iPhone or Android.

Finally choice is good. Makes it painful to choose just one at any time though.

Nothing wrong with people keeping an open mind and trying different stuff. Steve said it himself that if the customers like what they're getting, they'll buy it; if they aren't satisfied, they wont and it'll all work out.

It all works to make a healthy market. It's ultimately, the customers that act as a good push for companies to keep aiming high.

You know, for some people, not having LTE is a good thing.

Why? Because soon as your phone supports it, they'll do something like Sprint did, insist you buy a 4G plan. Which means for example forcing me off my unlimited (I'm sure AT&T will make you get one of their 4G plans if you use the "4G iphone" soon as the iphone supports it and they won't have an unlimited plan for it). Or even worse, for the *many* places w/out 4G, forcing you to pay for a plan you can't even take advantage of (Sprint made you pay for the 4G on the Evo regardless of if they had 4g in the area or not. Do you really think AT&T or Verizon, both known to be more expensive than Sprint, are going to do any less?).

Anyways, it doesn't bug me as 3G is fast enough for my needs (I'm not finding that I'm frustrated with speed at all) and definitely isn't worth losing my unlimited over. 4G is nowhere near a make or break feature for me.

Though I will be really annoyed if they haven't increased storage space by the time the 2012 (when my upgrade is up) hasn't increased. I'm going to be disappointed really if they yet again don't increase storage space this year (Even though not planning on getting a new phone, I think that it was bad enough it didn't increase last year, to keep the storage space the same for yet a 2nd time I think is ridiculous).

Honestly, at this point besides storage space (and of course when I get a new phone I expect it to have a faster processor), they don't need to do much hardware wise to make me happy with the next phone. I expect more storage space, faster processor, and maybe a better camera (I'd expect that just cause it's one of those things you take for granted gets improved in each model but honestly, I'm happy with the camera as is so it's not like I care). Everything else is gravy.

What apple would have to do to lose my business is make battery life really short or make the phone really big (in that case I"d hold on to what I have until I really *need* a new phone) or do something so bad marketing wise they lose support of developers for the iphone and the developers go to some other smartphone and stop making anything for the iphone (This is probably the thing that would most likely get me to go to another phone. To me this is the most important aspect of any smartphone and while apple has me locked in cause I already have a lot of apps so I'd probably stay long as they still got decent support even if they weren't the ones supported the most. But if they lose support and developers stop making stuff for the iphone, yeah, I'd probably start seriously looking at my options).

Why is having new phones released constantly a bad thing? Does it make you feel better knowing that your iPhone will be the best iPhone for a full year? I honestly don't believe this line of thinking seeing as how a large amount the posts on this forum are constantly talking about what features they want to see in the next iPhone. If people were satisfied it wouldn't matter.

Well, for one it means developers will most likely only be developing for those new phones so pretty quickly your phone won't be supported. Personally, I like having a phone that is mostly supported for 2 years (it wasn't until the 4 came out that you really started see apps the 3G wouldn't run only cause it wouldn't run the new OS).

I could care less how much better my hardware is if there isn't much software I want to run for it. What good is hardware on a computer without software to run? I personally enjoy the fact that at least for two years I can pretty much run the software coming out for my phone (it also means developers for the iphone have a lot of customers even just programming for the newer iphones that can buy their stuff, more tempting for the developers as well as being nice for the customers that they can be sure their phone will support apps for about 2 years).

And that is if the developers want to deal with so many different hardware requirements (which means they actually get less audience than with the iphone cause while there may be more phones out there, they either have to really compromise their software to accomodate the older phones with a lot of different hardware requirements or make the software run smoother but on far less phones cause it is only aimed at certain hardware).

Even Google has acknowledged the many differences in phones is getting to be a problem.

So basically you like having a bottleneck on developers? How often do you upgrade your computers? I know you can't be a gamer right?

Also Droid get rooted and have custom UIs so support doesn't affect people that hack their phones like I do. I will have more to play with! I have not updated my iPhone in over 6 months because Apple is constantly trying to lock you out. As far apps go...the Droid marketplace is 2/3 of App Store at this point and gaining fast so I think I will have some choices.

Tried my friends Verizon Thunderbolt LTE phone. Used it heavily on LTE. Used it from 630am-1pm. Phone ran out of battery life. This was heavy use but still unacceptable. And carrying extra battery or charger around is unacceptable. The Evo 4G was almost just as bad. Out of battery by 3pm.

With iPhone 4 under heavy use I am still at 30% when I am done with work around 5-6pm. iPhone 4 can make it through a work day with heavy user. LTE or WiMax phones cannot unless you decrease your level of use.

That's why Apple is passing this year on LTE.

iPhone 4 still has the best battery performance life of all the high end touchscreen smartphone out there.

Apple will release a 4G iPhone when 4G speeds are truly 4G. LTE is specified as AT LEAST a download rate of 50 Mbps going all the way to 100 Mbps. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that LTE speeds are at best 20 Mbps currently. How can they even get away with calling that 4G?

Just because the Thunderbolt has bad battery life don't think all LTE will be that way in the foreseeable. The Droid Charge is out and it has much better battery life than Thunderbolt. Don't make excuses for Apple...not all LTE phones will have that problem.

Pretty sure you are wrong. Verizon LTE is legit. AT&T has a bum version of 4G though.

I have been around here long to enough that every one will make excuses for Apple. How long did it take to get a simple copy/past function added to iOS. I forget what the excuse for that was....oh yeah it had to be done right.

See ya!

Don't really know or care what Apple does with Macs, but is any one else moving on to other smartphones because Apple is determined to keep behind in technology? Of course the iPhone would be a full year behind on 4G just so they can "save" that as new feature for the 2012. That is all Apple does...release phones with outdated specs so then adding them later and calling it in upgrade when it has been other phones for ages. Just like the excuse of not having Flash...who cares if it will be obsolete soon if we still need it to browsing webpages today? /endrant

This argument comes up every year usually immediately after release of the next gen iPhone when 'missing' features are identified--hasn't seemed to hurt Apple yet. Apple is rarely if ever about cutting edge, rather putting the emphasis on do what they do well. You want bleeding edge with that ability to customize to your hearts content--go have fun trying Android. Also enjoy carrying around an extra battery and/or charger that you're going to need halfway through the day after browsing flash based websites using LTE, if you have coverage, at it.

As someone else said, don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way out--hopefully a few less trolling threads to navigate through.

Also, just visited the Verizon wireless website for the first time in ages to see how many 4G capable smartphones are out (all 2 of them) and had a nice laugh when I saw how they categorized their devices. Under Phones, your choices are iPhone, then Smartphones, then feature phones. Under Internet device, first choice is iPad, then Tablets. They don't even have their newer 4G devices listed the third line of the subsequent page, after the various iPhones, the Droid 2, and the preorder for the SE Xperia Play. So where do you think Verizon is expecting the most interest?

Pretty sure you are wrong. Verizon LTE is legit. AT&T has a bum version of 4G though.

Check any tests that have been done on the Thunderbolt. They all average between 9-12 Mbps and Verizon advertises 20 Mbps at best. I don't think "legit" suffices. Calling this 4G or LTE is false advertising.

OK Great. Still much faster than 3G. What's your point? I'm sure when Apple has it on the iPhone you won't mind.

My friend in Vegas was pulling down 20Mbps on his Thunderbolt. I've seen videos on YouTube were people were getting 20mbps but this was when the phone came out. Maybe now that more people on their 4g network has slowed it down.

I wouldnt get a LTE phone yet for the fact that I don't have LTE 4G in my area just like most of the world. Isn't Verizon the only carrier in the world using LTE as of right now? If so there no reason for Apple to make a LTE phone that only a few million people can take advantage of.

I don't care about where Verizon, AT&T or Apple is getting their money from. I want a phone with every feature that I can use now. I'm pretty sure Chicago and New York City will have ample LTE coverage in the near future and that is all I am concerned with.

My point is that Apple will release a 4G iPhone when the technology is at true 4G speeds. Same reason why the original iPhone wasn't 3G. If that's not good enough for you then get a different phone.
