Will do! Quick question, if you don't mind me asking.
I currently have a FamilyTalk plan with three lines. I'm upgrading one to Next. Will I have the option of canceling that line (assuming it's out of contract) and transferring the Next payments to another line?
If so, I could try my luck ordering with AT&T but also order one from Apple on my second line. I'm thinking about canceling that line soon though.
Thanks again for all of your help!
Unfortunately no. Just like contracts, they must stay on their originating lines UNLESS you're doing a cross/shared upgrade, in which case you'll still be stuck w/ two agreements.
@Oridus
One more quick question, if you don't mind.
If I were to choose Next 24, would I be able to pay the difference between Next 24 and Next 12 (not the full price of the phone) to upgrade next year? Reason would be to have lower monthly payments and pay a lump sum in 11 months to make me upgrade, sort of like a reverse down payment.
Yeah. If you do Next 24 and want to upgrade in 12 months, you can pay to upgrade. Which phone you getting? I'll throw together some math.
If you wanted to upgrade in a year after making 12 payments, you would have to pay the sum of your remaining 12 months due on your Next 24 obligation.If I were to choose Next 24, would I be able to pay the difference between Next 24 and Next 12 (not the full price of the phone) to upgrade next year? Nice! Going for the 6S Plus 128gb.
Alright. So if you do Next 24, you'll pay:
949.99 / 30 mo = 31.67 x 24 (12 monthly, 12 payments in one lump sum) months = 760 on a 949 phone. You'll be paying for 24 months of a phone you'll keep for 12.
Where as if you did N12/DP, you pay:
285 down, plus 23.78 x 12 mo = 285... so you pay 569 in the same time frame. As you can see, you'll throw away money doing it this way. If I were you, I would pay the extra per month and just do next 12 (like I am) if you can't get your other plan to work, because in that case:
N12 = 47.5 / mo x 12 mo = 569 as well, upgrade in 12 as well... saving money.
Thanks so much for that. Guess I'll stick to the original plan and cross my fingers that I can add the down payment later! Really appreciate your help tonight.
Can you help with my question.Yeah. If you do Next 24 and want to upgrade in 12 months, you can pay to upgrade. Which phone you getting? I'll throw together some math.

Can you help with my question.
I have ATT but I don't want to use ATT.com to order my phone. I payed the amount needed to upgrade with a trade-in. I want to order straight from Apple.com. Can this be done with the option I described above? I don't want any suprises..
@Oridus Last question, I promise. I currently receive a 23% discount on my bill because of my employer. Will the device cost on Next also be discounted by 23%, or is it separate from the bill?
Employer discounts ONLY come off of data plans of $25 and higher and some grandfathered plans. They do not count towards the price of equipment.
Thanks! I'm thinking about switching to a Mobile Share Value plan. I was told the discount would still apply. Hope that's true, because I think I can save a few bucks by switching over.
The discount will still apply to the rate plan portion of it, just as it does on the Family Talk plans.
Sounds good, thanks again for all of your help tonight!
