Height: X is 0.2" taller than 8, and 0.59" smaller than 8+. Closer to the smaller model.
X: 5.65"
8: 5.45"
8+: 6.24"

Width: X is 0.14" wider than 8 and 0.38" narrower than the 8+. Closer to the smaller model.
X: 2.79"
8: 2.65"
8+: 3.07"

Weight: X is 0.92 oz heavier than 8, and 0.99 oz lighter than the 8+. Closer to the smaller model.
X: 6.14 oz
8: 5.22 oz
8+: 7.13 oz

This. I have the iPhone 6 and the battery is showing it's age. I have not been a fan of the plus models and the slight difference in size between the 8 and X is something that I can live with. I am looking forward to new screen as well.

After a conversation with my wife, who turned out to be a huge enabler, I decided to go all in and get the 256GB iPhone X when it goes up for preorder. Since my other choice was an 8 Plus with the same amount of storage, whose final cost would be approximately $1,030 after NYC taxes, the $200 price difference is almost negligible. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't make the price any less easier to swallow. I'm hoping that my 6s Plus will still be able to fetch $300 or so by the time I receive the X, which I plan on keeping for at least two years, if not three.

I talked to my GF about my thinking yesterday about the 8. She asked "Wait, why would you get the 8? It's the same thing!" She seems interested in Face ID.

I want to buy the next version of the X and keep it for two to three years, but the question is what to do in the interim... I want to start taking better photos. And that means a Plus model. 7+ with 128G is $769, and 8 with 64G is $799. Between those two, I think the 8 is a better choice.

Although the 7 Plus is a very solid phone, I'd go for the 8 Plus for the improvements that it has. I am heavily into iPhone photography as well, so the camera is a major feature to me. If you are fine with 64GB of storage, the 8 Plus is really a no-brainer.

I think I'm going to wait until black friday to see what kind of deal T-Mobile offers (we want to switch from AT&T) but I'm afraid they're only going to do iPhone 8 deals. If not I may have to wait until next year when the X type model gets cheaper (hopefully). $999 for a phone is outrageous.

Does it make sense to just buy the 7 at this point? It's 200 bucks cheaper than the 8 and pretty much has the same feature set?

The problem is that the inexpensive 7 model only has 32G in storage, which doesn't cut it for me (I use about 60G of my 64G now)

100% upgrade to the X. The 6S has served me well for a long time but its pretty much pooped out.

Agreed but the 256gb 8 is $849 and the 128gb 7 is $649, so it's still 200 bucks cheaper, and I don't know if someone really needs an additional 128gb. :)

dilemma dilemma
plan to give my 6S to my mom to use on TMO for band12 (she has 6 now)
trade in her 6 for probably the 8. maybe go with the 7 to save a few sheckels

I'm on a 6s and was looking at getting a larger screen phone — it's about the time for it. So, I'm going to get an 8 Plus, no interest in the X with the notch design and the Face ID and I don't believe in paying premium, high-dollar for outdated tech (the 7) when the discount isn't that much of a difference.

The 8 Plus should be future-proofed for a while, considering it has wireless charging and that has been one of my most-desired iPhone features for the past few years.

Great suggestion, but the "6" units are shot. Great condition physically but one won't charge at all (Son is rocking a 5S as a stopgap) and the other IP6 will charge, but start complaining randomly about low battery as soon as it's off the charger. Given these issues, I'm betting they're worthless to AT&T (My carrier)

$105.00 to Gazelle if in good condition.

I have a 6S+ thats still going strong. The X is out of my price range and im not a fan of them removing TouchID so I was considering the 8+ but not sure. I no longer feel the need to have the latest and greatest just to have it. Most likely I will pick up a 7+ since the price will probably drop now I can get a good deal on it.

I'm totally on the fence here. I have a 64GB 6s, which works pretty well but IS getting slow/sluggish, and I'd love wireless charging and a better camera, as well as fast wired charging, and the A11. Problem is, I'd like 128GB of storage, which Apple stupidly doesn't offer, so I'm forced to either upgrade but keep the storage size I have now, or get 256gb (which is too big for me, IMHO). However, my 6s still works pretty well, so I'm torn.

Any suggestions? To be clear, if I were to upgrade, it'd be to the 8 for sure. No interest in the X.

I was in the same boat, except with the plus models. I eventually decided this would be the smallest upgrade I've done, and it just wasn't worth the cost. As for space, I plan on factory resetting with iOS 11 and only installing the apps I need. I also cleaned out my photos and have them all stored in Google Photos now, and I plan on cleaning out my music too. That gave me back about 20 GB of space.

I'm in an odd boat. I like my 6S+, but it has two flaws. There's a minor scratch on the screen, but more importantly, my home button is now broken. Can't press it at all. Thanks to settings, I've used the digital home button, and can use the phone, but it's defiantly handicapped. If it wasn't for that, I really wouldn't consider upgrading at all. The second reason I might upgrade is that I will start being a youtuber shortly (Vblogging) and the idea of shooting in 4k at 60fps is really appealing. I'm also considering downgrading sizes. For media surfing, I prefer my iPad. anybody here downgrade to the smaller size? I have big hands, but the appeal of the phone being a phone has grown on me. Basically, I'm now debating between a 7 with 128, or a 8 with 256 gig... tough call.

Both my wife and I are 6S+ users. They are just about paid off and I just don't know if it is worth it to upgrade right now because they are working just fine for what we do with them. I just don't know if at the current prices I am really getting that much more vs the money being spent. The idea of almost $60 in phone payments dropping off our bill for paying off two phones is more appealing to me right now.

..buy a new battery! it was never easier to stay with a old device and I owned every model before.
its not just about the lame 6ss, 6sss and the superduper 6ssss.
its apple.
they destroy so many functions in iOS + Mac OS in the last years,
try to look what crazy prices they could get from their stupid customers,
make billion dollar advertisements for products which doesn't work correct in real life AND Tim Cook.
I hate that guy. he don't force innovation in any case. he just milk apple until the last drop.
I would not be surprised if the design of the iPhone 6 is from Steve.
I wish Scott forstal would steere this spaceship. he is the same ass kicker as steve

Battery in my 2 year old 6S Plus is not lasting as long each charge. But this iPhone has been awesome reliable and has the TSMC chip. I plan on preordering the iPhone X 256GB but am definitely not happy with Cook's $1149 price tag with no 512GB or AirPods included.

I pulled the trigger today on a Jet Black 7 Plus in 256GB, my local Apple Store still had a few left. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. Better now than never, since 256 is going away.

I'll probably sell the 6S, it's too tiny for me to be honest.

Probably the Samsung Galaxy s8 to s8+ to try out. I refuse to buy the 8/8+ (coming from the 6+) that legit looks the same as the 6+ 0f 2014. Was hoping to upgrade to the X but I refuse to pay that price and the tech involved has been out with competitors for sometime now.

I understand Apple's approach to mass market and simplicity that comes with it via software, but I am bored and I need a change. Maybe when the x price comes down I will give it a shot.
