6s is very old now with outdated tech, people are kidding themselves if they think they don't need to upgrade.
is that you Tim? or Phil?
your statement is plain bs. The iPhone 6S with iOS 10.3.3 is fast, smooth and working perfectly fine
While I don't have a 6s, I tested a 2017 iPad 9.7 on iOS 11 PB and that was working just fine. I don't see why performance on the 6s could be worse than iPad when the A9 chip is powering a much lower resolution on the iPhone. Perhaps Apple's dev team focused on iPads this time around and just haven't gotten around optimizing for older iPhones just yet?It struggles on iOS 11 though because of the ageing technology. You could stay on iOS 10.3.3, but it will become really insecure to do so, and you'll start running into many app updates you can't get because they require iOS 11.
The camera is also lightyears behind what is in both the 8 and the X. True tone is a game changer too.
There are so many big reasons why you should absolutely upgrade to a newer phone.

The primary reason for that is significant improvements in SOC. The latest models end up with 3-4x faster CPU and 6-8x faster GPU compared to devices from two years back so that's a huge performance gap. Past couple of iterations, gains were just 25-40%.Once an iPhone model approaches two years of existence, Apple never wastes much time optimizing for it. I wouldn't hold out much hope for the 6s at this point. It is time to move on and upgrade if you want a really great iOS 11 experience.
Think about it this way when you look at the X:
1) You get all of the iPhone 8+ features in the form factor very close to an iPhone 8. This means you get 21 hours of battery life with that large display instead of 14 on the normal 8. Remember the phones have increased in weight significantly compared to the 6's we know of, so the 8+ will feel much heavier than the 6+, let alone the 6.
2) You get dual optical image stabilization, so both front and rear cameras have OIS unlike the 8+ which just has one.
3) You get full-sized OLED display.
4) You get Face ID and Animojis! Your friends will envy you and you will have bragging rights.
5) All of the above costs $300 more than the maxed out 8 model.
The only thing your missing out on is Touch ID.

If you can afford to upgrade to either the 8 or the X, do it. It is really that simple.

I personally don't feel the jump from the iPhone 6s to the 8 is all that great. You'd have to either get an iPhone 8 Plus or an iPhone X. I was hoping Apple would of put the dual camera in the 4.7" model but they didn't.
LOL I am running 9.1 and it's running fine.
Outdated, insecure, and virtually no new apps or app updates will support iOS 9.1. I am LOLing.
If you say so. 99% of my apps are fine. The only thing that does not work is the Apple Store which I could care less for.
The S Models with the "big advances in tech" like the iPhone 4S (two cores) or the iPhone 6S (2gb ram from 1gb ram) tend to age better.Once an iPhone model approaches two years of existence, Apple never wastes much time optimizing for it. How about all the stuff you don't see.... security (or lack thereof) is not just about apps "being fine", it's about your data and that of those in contact with you being safe. It's because of people like you that hackers thrive. Upgrade, for the sake of security. If you say so. 99% of my apps are fine. If you are happy that's fine. But you are definitely missing out on a lot.

So much hyperbole in this thread. I'm currently using a 6s and it's still a great phone, and the security nonsense is BS. This is the first time I seriously considered not upgrading my phone after two years of use like I've done since my 3GS. The advances in smartphones continue to lessen year over year. I did ended up deciding to upgrade to an 8, but I may transition to a 3 year cycle due to the slowing of advancement.
I'm not saying you should upgrade the hardware, but as long as your device supports it, you should definitely upgrade iOS... it's just basic security practice, not hyperbole. So much hyperbole in this thread.
