This forum makes me chuckle!

There are so many threads about all the hype, then after, so many about disappointment! Grow up! Either go out and buy the phone, or dont! Its that simple!

Personally, i'll go and buy it! Others will just moan and talk the talk!

When will people realise that apple dont drastically change things, its a phone, not a UFO!

Thats all.

It would be more expensive to add the qualities of an iPhone into a mini version. otherwise the new iPhone probably wouldn't have become any taller..

That makes no sense. The new iPhone is taller because of the screen. Making a small low powered phone is cheap and easy.

and if you can't afford it its not for you. the iPhone isn't meant for every person in the world to have one.. Apple wouldn't make money off those people.. Thats where its more expensive and doesn't pay off to have a consumer than not to have them.

If Apple didn't care about the low end market they wouldn't still sell the iPhone 4 and 4S.

catch up LTE
catch up turn by turn directions
catch up full screen web browsing
catch up iCloud tabs
catch up panorama

THIS is what Apple has to offer? Let's compare this with their previous remarkable achievements.

Voice control of the iPhone 3GS. What has full screen browsing have to say to that?

FaceTime of the iPhone 4. What has iCloud tabs have to say to that?

The Retina Display of the iPhone 4 Panorama is nothing compared to this.

The Artificial Intelligence powered Assistant (Siri) LTE and turn by turn is speechless.

The thing is, they made a larger screen and that's the only thing major in the new iPhone. There should have been more.

At the end of the day, Apple doesn't fall behind, because of iOS. It may not have every feature you want, or otherwise have different skins/themes, and other customizable features, however, it is still completely and totally ahead of the curve. Using anything Android based is awful at best. Android is frightful to use. The only reason it survives in the marketplace is the ubiquity of handsets, the fact that sales people will push them, and most people are too dumb to know any better. People will pick the poorer of two choices simply because it is one.

LOL. Keep repeating this to yourself and others. You may eventually be able to convince yourself. The iPhone 5... Reinventing itself, again and again and again

Much better hardware design. This is just a longer iPhone 4S.

Camera is basically the same as well. Should have made a much better camera.

How do you make a much better camera when you can't increase the pixel count without reducing quality?

On that front; they apparently improved the glass, which is a big part of what really matters.

My old 3MP S30 is still a much better camera than ANY smartphone.

Apple needs an enterprise solution similar to RIM. They also need iOS devices with hardware keyboards.

Give me that, and I would be most certainly impressed.
Hardware keyboards? Are you serious? Do you want them to throw in a floppy drive and 56K modem as well?

And I do laugh at everybody falling for the 'best battery life ever' banana in the tailpipe trick every year.

Thats their low end market.. Why would they make an even LOWER one? THAT makes no sense.

Clearly you cannot tell me you enjoyed that experience. I used to have the first Xperia phone and was a member of XDA forums. Did not enjoy that as much as I would've liked to.

I also was a member of XDA and at the time, it was really fun flashing ROMs and friends were asking how the F did you do that? Let's disregard the iPhone and pretend it never existed (eliminate bias). Did you enjoy the phone though?

NFC is pointless right now, Google Wallet is having a hard time with carriers.. Verizon blocked Google Wallet from devices on its network, Apple doesn't mess around in those type of waters.. Wireless charging.. lol that's why your upset? Your silly..

You do realize there's more to NFC than just electronic payments, right? See: NFC tags (which are really really cool).

I absolutely adored my iPhone 4. Was disappointed when the 4s was announced, and am disappointed now.

I upgraded to the 4s because I got a cheap deal and felt it would be worth more when I wanted to sell it to buy the 5.

I genuinely thought the 5 would be something new and exciting, something to (in my mind) put apple back ahead of the game, the phone that sets the standard all other phone makers chase, hence the term 'iPhone killer'.

This time I felt apple needed to produce a S3 killer, I know I'll get flamed and people wont agree, but that's just my opinion. For me, they needed to show Samsung how it's done, be the innovators apple are known to be. But they did no such thing. What we got is the iPhone 4 tall. If I upgrade, I'll have had the same phone for 3 years and shelled out almost £1500 for the privilege. More so, since apple added £30 to the price of a 16gb model.

The S3 has a better CPU, a bigger screen (a tad too big imo, but better than an elongated iPhone 4), extendible memory, removable battery, proper bluetooth.

For me personally, the only pro the iPhone has over the S3 is the app store and apples customer service. I want to access apps and know they're secure and virus/spyware free. If my phone or becomes faulty, I want to walk into a shop and walk out with a new/working phone.

So I'm torn, come upgrade time I have no idea what to do, I'm bored of the 4s, I want something new, I was hoping it would be the iPhone 5, but I'm not shelling out more money on what will feel like the exact same phone (quote specs all you like, but in the hand it will feel like the exact same phone). But the Samsung eco system just doesn't do it for me.

I'm not saying im disappointed. I will be ordering 2 on friday. But slowly we are seeing things change at apple. I have never used "Steve would have never allowed this..." But I see small things slipping here and there. Can't believe there is no big software feature that is iPhone 5 only.

Apple is obsessed with the Thumb and using a Super Phone with One Hand. It's holding them back.

The Samsung Note has a feature for those who want to use it with one hand for example in the Phone where the Keypad is reduced and shifts to one side.

Agreed. Are there really THAT many people with tiny hands and thumbs or people who only have one hand? Jesus. Also, a phone that is harder to use with one hand will make it less likely these idiots who text and drive will kill people texting in their cars.

I'ean every phone slowly but surely got better. Go look at the past history of all the iPhones.

I think this post just about sums it up

The problem isn't really the hardware, its the lack of change on the software front.

Surely you would agree Google has evolved quite a bit more on the interface front. Apple had arguably the best interface in 2007, and today many still find its simplistic approach enjoyable. However, it's looking a bit dated by modern standards vs. Jelly Bean or Windows Phone 8.

Hardware-wise, though the iPhone looks fine though Apple is certainly late to the big-screen/LTE party....
