You are basing your facts on rumors?

Rumors and pictures turned out to be quite precise this time which showed a marginally bigger capacity battery.

And still, how much longer do you expect the battery life will be anyway. With the new processor, larger screen to power, and all the "new features" it takes common sense to understand it will not be surprisingly more than the old 4S.

I think the iPhone 5 looks great, it just isn't wowing me off of my 4S like I thought it could.

For me personally, the screen size wasn't an issue. Where I live there is no LTE on either carrier yet. So what are the selling points to me then? Yeah it's a little faster but that's not worth the money for me. A seriously improved camera would have sold me over everything else, and they didn't deliver in that department this year. The 4S camera is great, so it's understandable they didn't strive to go crazy.

Like I said, it looks great, if I was coming from an iPhone 4 I'd buy it. But coming from a 4S it's just not worth it to me considering the zero LTE factor and my indifference to the bigger screen. I'm sure the 5S will get a lot of the features we expected to see today.

And the tools men pick to get the job done run on an Android OS.

Seriously? 5 years ago people would've never thought phones could do so much. What can the iPhone NOT DO that is essential to everyday life as a tool? I'm not downing Android but jeez with people with iFanboys going "iPhone is better than Android" or Android fanboys going "silly iPhone playing catch up:p" is so annoying.

Tell me, what can the new iPhone NOT do that the SG3 can that is ESSENTIAL? NFC ok I'll give you that one but what else?

If people love Android so much why the heck are you guys even here? Should I go on youtube videos or android forums saying how the SG3 blows or constantly say that iOS is better?

Swear in the future people are going to want phones to wipe for them too.

It can give you extra tech-geek points to out geek your tech-geek friends. Essential in the battle for high school geek supremacy.

And let's be honest, NFC is by no means "essential" at this point.

As someone who mainly uses an Android phone I agree 100%.

Why do people care so much about which phones other people use? It makes no difference to you, just buy the phone you like and let other people buy the phones they like and get on with your lives.

Thank you, you speak with sense! Phones should be what is of ease to other people, not tools to categorize people.

Actually thats not true, my old windows mobile XDA pda phone had all of the same features back in 2005 thats 7 years ago.

Clearly you cannot tell me you enjoyed that experience. I used to have the first Xperia phone and was a member of XDA forums. Did not enjoy that as much as I would've liked to.

Actually I did, because I like to flash roms and tweak things...

But that wasnt your original point, you said no one thought a phone could do this much stuff, which is blatantly untrue....

Now if you said apple made the features that other phones had smoother then yes thats a true statement. Some of those features that the Windows mobile phones could do well 7 years ago, launching apps via voice command are just now finding their way into the iphone. lol

Windows Mobile was a terrible OS, not at all comparable to the iPhone or Android. That's like saying a 1993 Nissan Micra is the same as a 2013 Bentley Continental because they both have engines and move.

No its not,

its like saying a 1987 Toyota turcell can drift as well as a 2010 mustang...

it may not look as good, but it drifts the corners just as well.

Agreed - NFC and wireless charging are both neat, but utterly useless technologies. I have NEVER seen an NFC terminal in any store I frequent (locally or travelling), and likely won't before the next generation of devices are out. Why should Apple waste R/D resources on a technology that may never take off?

On the wireless charging bit, it's cool, absolutely. But given that the device has to be on/near something plugged into the wall, how is that any more useful than just plugging the device DIRECTLY into the wall? And if you need to pick up the phone to call/text/whatever, wouldn't the phone stop charging (vs. a plug)? Isn't that actually LESS efficient?

It’s not clear that NFC is the solution to any current problem, Schiller said. "Passbook does the kinds of things customers need today."

As for wireless charging, Schiller notes that the wireless charging systems still have to be plugged into the wall, so it’s not clear how much convenience they add. The widely-adopted USB cord, meanwhile, can charge in wall outlets, computers and even on airplanes, he said.

"Having to create another device you have to plug into the wall is actually, for most situations, more complicated," Schiller said.

Nailed it. :p

1) It's cheaper
2) It isn't owned by a ****** company that constantly files lawsuits
3) It has Google Now
4) It has Micro USB
5) It has an SD card slot
6) It has a bigger screen (subjective if this is a plus or not)
7) The OS is far more advanced (subjective as to the experience though)

I have to say I am completely and utterly underwhelmed by this phone. I'm desperate to upgrade because the screen size on my iPhone 4 is starting to really grate, and it feels very unresponsive compared to newer phones too.

Pretty much every single part of me wants an S3 now, but I just know I'll regret buying a phone that doesn't have the Apple app store.

1. They're both cheap in my country.
2. It's owned by Samsung, they copy Apple a LOT.
3. Wth is that?
4. Why do i need that?
5. Why do i need that?
6. The iPhone 5 has a bigger screen (Longer, but still bigger) and i don't like the size of the SG3.
7. Apple's OS worked fine for me for 2 years and i love it.

-720p resolution.
-Battery as seen on rumors won't be much better than 4S.
-Better Design. (I find this very much the same as iPhone 4)

What do you think 720P would do for you?

Battery is projected to be much better than the S3. We really need to wait and see real world.

I think the aluminum unibody seems awesome. I bet it feels great when I finally get one in my hands.

I am pretty much all done...Nothing really ground breaking for me and i have been using iOS 6 since June and there is really no mind blowing stuff.

Nokia 920 is my next phone. I have loved windows phones since there release and would have gotten one way earlier but Verizon only had the crappy focus. Now that should change, if not i am going back to AT&T as i really have no heartache with them.

I think one HUGE plus of the Nokia over any other windows phones or Android is that it is the only phone i believe other than iphone to use the IPS screens. So it will have pretty much the same exact screen as the iphone just at 4.5" and 332ppi

I think most people are upset that the design is largely playing catchup. This would've been a great design maybe last year, but there are already phones out just as good if not better than this one, and within 2-3 months apple will fall behind the curve even more.

The argument that the case design may or may not be behind the curve is subjective. Apple has essentially decided from the get go, a one model system, with the only variation to that being the availability of older models at cheaper price points. And some would argue for wider phones, different ports, etc. but it comes as no surprise that Apple consistently eschews additional quick functions, etc for simplicity. One could argue for NFC or other tech, but we really aren't there yet and LTE along with improvements like the A6 are still substantial.

At the end of the day, Apple doesn't fall behind, because of iOS. It may not have every feature you want, or otherwise have different skins/themes, and other customizable features, however, it is still completely and totally ahead of the curve. Using anything Android based is awful at best. Android is frightful to use. The only reason it survives in the marketplace is the ubiquity of handsets, the fact that sales people will push them, and most people are too dumb to know any better. People will pick the poorer of two choices simply because it is one.

Seriously. ICS or JB may be leaps and bounds ahead of where Android used to be, but there are plenty of us who jumped on board during the Donut/Eclair/Honeycomb days. My 18 months with Android completely and unequivocally turned me off of Google's mess of an OS. iOS may be "behind the times" in some areas but it works every time I need it to; something that couldn't be said for the aluminum brick sitting in my desk drawer.

And yes, I rooted it. I tried every combination of ROM and kernel, and each one made it better in some ways and worse in others. I don't have time (or authorization, now that my organization supports BYOD) to screw with hacking what should be a solid OS out of the box. Rooting / Jailbreaking should exist to improve, not "fix."

Lost credibility with me at "honeycomb". Tablet based and predecessor of ICS, not only nothing to do with phones was the same as ICS except folders and swipe to close apps.

This reminds me - I do wonder if they will release an iPhone Nano based off the new iPod Nano design at some point. It could sell in developing countries where the Apple brand is still cool but few people can afford smartphones, and it'd be ideal for teenagers who use cheapo BlackBerries at the moment. Plus it'd bring real competition to Android in the low end market.

I'm easy. With memory prices dropping if the $199 model would have been 32 gig, I would be in.

As it is, having to invest in new accessories/docks or a somewhat flimsy looking adaptor just doesn't seem worth it.

Instead I'm going to sit tight for and wait for iPad mini announcement. I'm honestly more excited about that than the ip5.

I see the Apple apologists are out in force. And as predicted, iPhone 5 is nothing more than a stretched 4S. Nothing innovative in either the hardware or software and I particularly like the heads of Apple giving excuses for the lack of NFC and inductive charging. "well, you still have to plug the charger into the wall". Yeah, that's not the point idiot. "Passbook is good. Our customers don't need NFC. We will tell them when they can have features." NFC is here now and expanding at an exponential rate. Nearly every major retailer and fast food joint in the US has the system already installed.

Next prediction: within 5 days of people getting their phones, there will be massive whining about crappy battery life, especially from those in LTE areas.

IPhone 5 . Apple did it again. Literally. 3 years in a row, in fact. ;)

I meant Froyo and Gingerbread, Mr. Pedantic. Sorry for not keeping my Google desserts straight.

It would be more expensive to add the qualities of an iPhone into a mini version. otherwise the new iPhone probably wouldn't have become any taller.. and if you can't afford it its not for you. the iPhone isn't meant for every person in the world to have one.. Apple wouldn't make money off those people.. Thats where its more expensive and doesn't pay off to have a consumer than not to have them.
