I have 2 iPhones that I use with one iTunes account. Will I be able to install TomTom on both of these devices, or is there an additional registration step required?

This will be the dealbreaker for me.

Works fine on multiple accounts, I have already installed it on multiple iPhones.

I use the TomTom in Ireland, and in general it's good, but it has its moments...

For instance, I recently used it to navigate to Kinvara, on the Clare-Galway border, a trendy village flocking with nice eateries, a favourite with the sailing set.

But when I looked for 'Kinvara' the TomTom offered me a bunch of places. If I didn't know Ireland I would have chosen the one 50 kilometres away in Connemara. As it was, I wandered through them and found that 'An Páirc Mhór' was the place I wanted. What???

Bad enough, but my friend lives out on the back roads. When I saved his location as a 'favourite' I thought I had it for life. But no - the next time I downloaded a map update, that 'favourite' - with all the others I had saved - was gone.

Can anyone tell me if the TomTom for iPhone software does the same? Does it wipe out your saved destinations every time you update your maps?

Does anyone know if this will work without an internet connection? For example when your on vacation and don't want to be roaming?

Just downloaded the UK & Ireland Maps, expensive .. yes, does it work well, yes. Similar navigation to my TomTom One (which I will now be selling), even without the "enhanced" GPS mount.

No updating of POIs yet, and no Safety Camera Database either.

Will try an see if you can install it on more than one iPhone, that would make it better value.

Still think it's expensive considering the price of standalone units these days. Welcome arrival, but reckon Tomtom could have priced this far more aggressively.

e.g. Copilot UK - £25.99, Tomtom UK & Ireland - £59.99!

I'm a little hesitant on buying the tomtom app, actually any turn-by-turn gps app.

I have an iphone 3G and I am wondering if during the app, the needle is going to be very jumpy and laggy because i am not using a 3GS. Has anyone used any of these gps apps on a 3G? I am just a little worried that the apps are going to be really slow because of the 3G's software.

Are these worriest justified or am I completely off base here?

i'm not sure what you're worried about. the 3G and 3GS share the exact same software. the only thing the 3GS has that might make a difference is the magnetometer for the compass, but i'm not sure how many of the GPS apps use this anyway.

i think these apps will work just as well on a 3G as a 3GS...

Bought it and I have a 3G. Went for a drive worked well with music playing. Instructions would intrupt the music and the music resumed after the instructions. Works well nothing unexpected in the operation of the iPhone.

i guess what he is worrying, and the same worry i have, is that as the 3GS have a faster processor than the 3G, the TBT may be far lagging behind; i.e. like it is on the current sygic

that's why i am also hesitate to put this amount of $ into a TBT until the above has been cleared

Does this TomTom take you all around the tiny back roads, I have a sat nav at present - another company - but it always takes the quickest route (despite what setting I have it on) and you end up on some tiny road unsuitable for any type of traffic! Just wondering if this iPhone TomTom does the same or if it actually keeps you on the bigger roads.

It's €80 on the Irish iTunes Store, by the way. Not shelling out till I know if it eats your Favourites on a new map upload, though.

You can set the TomTom to use 'faster' or 'shorter' routes, and the roads it chooses depend on how you set this.

Do you know if there is In-App-Purchse? So if i buy the Central-Europ Version, will i be able to buy the maps of the rest of europe or will i have to download a new app to do that?
EDIT: And do you know if that is possible with the Navigon Solution?

Far too expensive for an App. I bought CoPilot last week and have been really enjoying it.

I used CoPilot Live to drive from London to Manchester on the weekend and it was perfect. I really like the lane designation and all extensive ability to customize it.

1. Does TomTom have the signpost view that the others do?

2. Does it have lane assist?

Great Job TomTom:mad:
Overpriced app and no eastern europe. Its a joke. Waiting for upgrade on navigon for safety cameras and TomTom is dead for me.

The latest Navigon for iPhone has safety cams.

Documentation available

The documentation is available (at least in french) at the following URL : http://www.tomtom.com/support/support.php?ID=3&Language=4
I didn't find it in english but surely it must exist somewhere...
I had a look and it seems that the features are similar to Navigon (except IQ Routes of course). Nothing is said about map updates or speed cameras updates... It gives a few details about how the TomTom car kit works.
