So basically Apple is telling people who have money and can pay full price to go F themselves.

Go stand in line and if you get lucky you can get an iPhone. You are not as important a customer as those who want to buy a subsidized iPhone.

What a bizarre way to do business!!!

Indeed

Did you pay full price or bought on contract? If you want to pay full price the Apple website does not allow you to. I want to pay full price and I just have to stand in line and if I am lucky, I will get an iPhone.

When I got my iPhone 5 October 30 2012 I had the option to pay full price and pick up at the store. Apple did not allow it this time.

I just find it odd that if you have money up front and you can pay full price, you have to try your luck at the store. But if you do not have money up front and must buy subsidized then you can reserve your phone online and are guaranteed a phone to pick up at the store.

Aside from this being a bad business practice, it also speaks volumes about how impoverished US society has become.

Contract.

There were none available online. There are numerous reports where there are none available online for personal pickup but they get in line and get one. I was in line for 5 minutes until the rep told me so it's not a big deal. My local Apple store (Lehigh Valley just an hour north of Philly) year after year has very low stock. I think it gets sold out quickly because it's centered in a fairly populated area and is the only Apple Store for an hour or more in any direction. There needs to be another one somewhere around here. Oh well, I'll get on eventually. My 5s works flawlessly.

I got mine at king of Prussia. 40 minutes from the Lehigh valley.

Tonight 1am order online for in store pickup Saturday

I got mine at king of Prussia. 40 minutes from the Lehigh valley.

Trust me, from the LV Apple Store to the KOP Apple Store its a good hour of driving. Leaving the LV Mall parking lot is a 10 minute deal alone LOL. And it's 40 minutes from my house to the LV store. I'm not driving ~3 hours round trip and paying tolls and everything else for a phone. Maybe if mine was broken or something...

How won't they make money, where do they think we plan to use these phones? In all actuality we are paying the subsidized price and about 5 month's worth of service by buying it full price, then we are paying the carrier to use their network. So in half a year they would have made more money off me than someone with a subsidy.

If you are buying a phone full price, you most likely are not on contract or out of contract. This means you can up and leave the network at a moments notice. Yes you are paying the phone company to use their network, but to the phone company, you aren't a guaranteed source because you can leave anytime you want.

They want customer who are under contract, because then those customers are a guaranteed cash flow for the next two years, and if they do decide to leave before then, an ETF will have to be paid. If they decide to skip out or not pay at all, the phone company can come after them through debt collection and/or court.

So it's in the phone companies best interest to push the subsidized phones and make them easier to purchase, so they can get more people under contract.

Also, when you buy a phone, the profits of the phone goes to the phone manufacturer, in this case Apple. The phone company gets it's profits from the plan you have that allows you to use the phone on their network.

I'm sitting outside my local Apple Store (Tulsa) waiting for them to open in 20min. I was first one here wanting a new phone. I know Sunday prob isn't the best day to try to get a 6 Plus but it was easy for me to come by today. I'll let yall know.

None for ATT... Sounded like they had a Plus 16gb on another carrier for the guy behind me. I'll try monday and Tuesday and then I'll just order one and wait it out.

I wouldn't waste your time. No UPS or FED Ex on weekends.

Guess this guy was right. Doesn't look like any inventory updates for LV NV. At least not for Apple stores. Other retailers might have gotten some.

When does the apple website update? has anyone actually refreshed it and saw inventory changes vs just going off of what people are saying.

I drove a mile over to BestBuy and they have a Plus silver 16gb left over from a preorder no one picked up. Guy in front of me is trying to decide if he wants it, I'll take it if he doesn't!

To everyone debating that Apple should allow customers to buy full-priced phones for pick-up, realize that this would also make it MUCH easier for scalpers. You think your having issues getting the phone now, if scalpers could buy phones full-price online you'd have no chance. You'd have so many more people fighting over the same phone online and they would probably write an automated bot to grab the phone the second it becomes available online. I've been screwed by scalpers in store so I know it would be 10x worse if they could buy the unsubsidized phones online. At least in store they have a limit of two before they have to go back to the end of the line.

With that said, I agree with you that after the demand simmers down a little bit and inventory levels out that Apple should allow you to pay full-price online; however, at that point you would be able to just walk in-store to buy it because inventory would catch up with the demand.

Would that mean Monday mornings are a bust as well?

Probably a little late for people who asked this question but I'm pretty sure the allocate some of their Saturday stock to Sunday walk-ins. Last Sunday I waited outside a store and they had a decent supply of popular models that people were looking for.

As for Monday, everyone on this forum seems to agree that it is a waste since there were no Sunday shipments but they will get their daytime shipments on Monday still.

Ok thanks for the heads up. I'll just skip Monday morning and go Tuesday morning instead.

Take into account, many scalpers don't want to use credit card in fear of
- being flagged as too rich to receive welfare payments
- tracking of non-payment of taxes when they flip
- undocumented alien scalpers
- pain the ass for them to wait for the UPS/Fedex guy if they live in the city

Well I suspect by that time many of us including myself will have moved on to the Note 4. You can defend Apple but at the end of the day they should have waited to release until the had a good amount of inventory. My guess is they were trying to rush to market to snuff of Samsung and Android but failed.

Thank you, plus Apple could of more easily tracked individuals trying to buy more than one phone by tracking their name and address. They could of even not allowed prepaid cards only bank debit or credit cards.

I scored the silver 16gb! Loving it so far but I'll return it in about ten days for a gray 64gb. I hope somehow Apple loses a lil money on returns! If they don't have a gray 64 in stock I guess I'll just use my old 5 till I find one. I'm sure the stock in stores will be better in the following weeks.

And for info, this phone was a preorder no one picked up, that's the only reason best buy had it. Employee called another store in town for another customer and they had the Plus he wanted, same preorder not picked up. It wasn't entered in inventory yet, BB gives 48hrs for u to pick up preorder. Those desperate for a Plus could call BB and make sure to ask if there's any preorders about to go past the 48hrs.

Are you kidding? You think welfare is tracking personal credit card transactions to decide if welfare recipients are eligible to receive benefits?

You really have no idea what you're talking about and are incredibly close minded.

Man, there was practically no movement of supply at all today. I really thought about lining up but guess there would've been no point anyway. I'll have to go out Tuesday. Tuesday will finally be my day.

I really think you'll have a good shot Tuesday! Get there as early as u can, at least an hour before they open. Just bring your iPad and use their wifi!

My guess is tomorrow apple stores will have a huge shipment in the early afternoon.

^^This!

I was on the hunt for a Silver plus 128. Each day last week, the stock improved each afternoon between 2:00 - 4:00. That's when I was able to get mine. Ordered under contract and then converted the purchase to device only the next day when I picked it up in the store. YMMV though. This is the pattern I have noticed in No CA at least.
