wdlove's post rate now exceeds Mr. Anderson's post rate. If they both maintain their current rates, wdlove's total post count will pass that of Mr. Anderson in 91 years and 8 months.

At that point, wdlove will have 511,350 posts.

I will post to this thread in 91 years and 8 months to report whether my extrapolation was accurate. Unless I'm busy that day.

That rate isn't indicative of current posting trends - its over all. I don't post that much and wdlove continues to say thank you for everyone else's posts and contributions.

Nice job on the graphs Doctor Q. They are very informative. Your hard work is appreciated. Just goes to show what your every increasing data can provide. ;)

He's more like the MacRumors Yes Man and Echo Machine....

I figure it will only be a short while before I'm passed up.

I always wondered when he'll run out of prayers and condolences. Seems he's praying all the time.

Very interesting statistic Doctor Q - you just live for these things, don't you! :) Now I'm going to have to stick around for another 91 years and 8 months just to see if you're correct!

Which brings up another question - can children inherit your MacRumors account? I wonder if anyone has put their account in their will, so that after they have passed on, their children can use their account and keep their post counts up.... ;)

i never seem to post enough to make it on to these lists, but i feel like i'm always around... some of you guys amaze me with your post totals
Actually, I feel the same way. Although, I think that the reason is that I dont' have a constant posting rate. During my rediculously busy semesters, I hardly ever post at all. But over the summers, BAM!

Anyhow, I'm still glad to be hanging around here enough.

I agree. My weather widget tells me LA is sunny and hot. You really, really should think about going out and getting some fresh air... ;)
Hotspots are everywhere these days, so maybe I'm on Santa Monica Beach right now. Or down on the Venice boardwalk doing math problems for tourists so they'll throw coins in my Q hat.

A street mathematician? Excellent. You're like a roving calculator... a portable data interpretor, a statistic in motion...

It's sunny and fine but he's still hard at work number-crunching. Doctor Q – you're an example to us all! :p

OK, let's put YOU under a microscope.

The blue counts are what I know from my data. Since, on average, you've made about half of your posts in the Community Discussion forum, and my data for November 2003 to July 2004 does not include Community Discussion posts, I used that ratio to estimate the missing data. The red extensions show estimated additional Community Discussion posts for those months. The actual post count for each of those months is somewhere with the red section.

Since it's only halfway through August 2005, it appears you are well on your way to a high for the past year.

So what happened to you in April 2005?

I don't have a history on your posts before the middle of 2004, since you didn't have a post count high enough to get on my radar during my routine data gathering.

Are you getting these from the macrumors records?

Why wouldn't community discussion forum posts be automatically included?

What do you mean "on my radar"? Do you gather information only on member names you recognize?

What other kind of data is available?

Thanks :)

Way to creep a guy out Doctor Q.
I regularly work with my team of private investigators to spy on members, following them around, peering in their windows, and filling my filing cabinets with secrets about them. It routinely comes in handy for blackmail purposes.

Actually, my out-of-the-blue analysis of gwuMACaddict isn't quite as evil or random as it may appear. Sorry to spoil the mystery, but he asked me to compute his post history and I needed a good excuse to goof off with spreadsheets today.

I've taken post count measurements for the Top 50 posters every 6 months since July 2003, so anybody in the Top 50 at any of those intervals is "on my radar". I get the data from the Forum Top 50 Posters list, which anyone can display anytime. I've used no "inside information".

I didn't have records for gwuMACaddict until this year, so I used the forum search page to gather the post counts by month. Since search results are limited to 500 posts, I did a separate search for each Forum. Each of them yielded <500 posts, except Community Discussion because gwuMACaddict has had 500 posts in that one forum since July 2004. So that's as far back as I could get post lists in that forum with a single search. Hence the estimates to fill in the unknowns.

It hasn't come up, but just in case, here is my newly-invented Privacy Policy: "If any member would like to be excluded from the post-count stats I do at MacRumors, let me know and I'll honor your request."

Perhaps I'll stop peering in windows too.
