Allow me to congratulate you, and in the process push my post count up to 500. ;)
I've been registered for two and a half years and am only at 276! I'm a bit of a lurker here.

Wow, I have shot up in post count, according to that graph, haven't I? ~Shard~ has been climbing up along with me, too.

Doctor Q, not only are you the resident QuickTime fanatic, you are also master of statistics.

Been here a year and a half, and I'm now up to a dizzying 303 posts.. :p

Does anyone even know who I am? Just 197 posts to go.. :)

I guess the only downside to being a top 50 poster would be the future arthritic fingers from all that typing!

Doctor Q, you're going all out! Those charts are great!

Would it be possible for me to request a full chart of my posting history? (I dont' want to start a precedent here, or anything...) I'm just very interested to see how my posting has fluctuated throughout the years.

My goodness, such a request. ;) That sounds like an awful lot of work, poor Doctor Q. "If you give a mouse a cookie..."

Goodness gracious Doctor Q. Cool to see how some of the higher posters have slowed in recent months while others have been posting like crazy...

What I find interesting is that there is such a clear division between the steady accumulation of some longer-term members and the steep climb of some newer members.

The #21 to #30 chart is a good example. Five flat lines of members being passed by four newer members charging by.

No, I don't mean to imply that longer-term members are "flatlining"! :)

I think that Alphatech's line is completely flat... ;)

I'm sure some of those newer members will slow down eventually. I mean, mkrishnan can't keep up this pace forerver, can he? ;)

I know I'll eventually slow down as well, but I do really enjoy being part of the community and being as active and in touch as I can.

Thanks again Doctor Q, I found the plots really interesting!

Yes, we're both on a steady climb, that's for sure! Even though our "join dates" are relatively similar as well, you've definitely been a bit more active than I have. It's always been great having you around though.

I'm like a machine, baby!!! :D

No, I don't think I will. My first year and a half coincided with my transition out of engineering and back to grad school, so I've had some free time on my hands, but I am rapidly ramping back up in grad school-ish things. :) There are experiments starting up, and I've started being on clinical duty since last week....

The pile of stuff I ought to be doing is rapidly reaching critical mass! ;) :D

Ah yes, grad school would definitely slow things down a little! Well, good luck to you in your studies - from one Engineer to another, what is your primary focus for your thesis?

Well, my masters' thesis will be on cardiovascular health and depression in the elderly. I don't have a doctoral thesis idea yet, but the sort of concept-in-development is to look at other intersections of depression and chronic health concerns. That way, I can maybe do something involving chronically ill kids, since I have recently become really involved in playing and hanging out and learning from them.

  :D

I actually left engineering for psychology. So I'm picking up MS #2 on the way. Sometimes, though, I really do miss engineering. You would not believe how little psychologists understand about basic technology. :D But I love 'em all the same. And game *does* recognize game...my little white iBook with pink keyboard cover is adored by everyone. ;)

But thanks, I'll need all the kind wishes I can get to get through this!

Thanks for elaborating, and once again, good luck! Those are all honorable goals to be pursuing, and putting your education to good use in helping others.

Another note about the graphs above: Due to the nature of my data and spreadsheets (or lack of charting skills), each member appears by magic at the 6-month measurement interval at which they first had posts. Each member's post history should really start at zero posts somewhere within the preceding 6-month interval, but I think the most recent line segments are the most interesting anyway!

Nice job on the graphs Doctor Q. They are very informative. Your hard work is appreciated. Just goes to show what your every increasing data can provide. ;)

Personal charts are available only on request, and only to members in the Top 150 but not the Top 50 and with member numbers below 1000. Namely you.

I don't have a history on your posts before the middle of 2004, since you didn't have a post count high enough to get on my radar during my routine data gathering. But here's what I know since then. Note that July isn't half over yet. It looks to me that you are on summer vacation!

FYI, you would have been ranked 157th on the Top 157 as of July 4.
