First launch day August build was having a issues in edges but not very frequent, second replacement received was July build was having so much of touch issue, Third was again August build & having a similar touch issues like first, when I requested for replacement iOS 18.2 was not released & I was on 18.1.1, before I receive replacement 18.2 public released & I felt less issues in 3rd iPhone, but anyways 4th replacement November build received yesterday with 18.1.1 & immediately I upgraded to 18.2, so far seems all is fine.

Thank unfit your support!
So my first phone was July at dayone, no good!
Second after one month is August,
They don’t change phone because they changed my screen, is K but sometimes lose touch.
Your phone with November built is K for touch? Or it happens to lose About 1-2 time touch?

November built is perfectly fine.

That’s good to hear. Even with a tempered glass screen protector?
Yes, after removing white sticker comes on new phone screen, applied Spigen Screen protector before turning on the phone.
P.S. First phone with touch issue was having a Spigen same screen protector, second & third phone necked but still touch issues was there.

If you experience occasional touch problems (in the future), I would think it's a software problem. I very occasionally have a lost touch but always in third-party applications, such as WhatsApp. I have a spigen screen protector, and the battery is from July. I lose touches very rarely and curiously I lose them when I intentionally try to do it, otherwise I don't realize it. I remember that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max had a touch problem when it just came out, when I touched the camera button, the screen froze, then after that they made corrections and I think they still need to fine-tune it more in general.

Agreed, even after replacing multiple 16 PM, I still suspect software issues over hardware, even my 3rd device which was on 18.1.1 was having a touch issue like you said in different apps, but reduced drastically in 18.2, Factory reset might have a clear the issue, but my replacement device was already on the way so, I avoided, on my current device, which I received yesterday, I updated to 18.2 immediately after the setup, still can’t say if it’s Hardware issue or software issues, but one thing is sure, I don’t faced a single time touch issues in last 24 hours, in all the apps like WhatsApp & some of the banking apps, I was facing.

I think it’s a software issue. Look second 32.

All he says is that some people have screen unresponsiveness. Yeah, we already know that. And some of us don’t have a problem at all.

Just to be clear, iPhones aren’t Windows PCs. iOS operates the same on all iPhone16s, because it’s exactly the same hardware configuration. There’s no reason that, if it were purely software, it would be a problem on some people’s phones and not others, unless it’s due to a variance in some hardware component that is different between devices (like screen manufacturer, etc), causing the OS to glitch out on those phones. In which case it would still technically be a hardware related problem.

That being said, there have always been certain apps that bug out and screw up the interactions within those apps — for example, the Reddit app a few years back used to glitch out on me and not let me hit the back button randomly. That is different than a system wide issue that affects interactions throughout multiple apps and OS functions

I would not expect that.
Apple is known for changing suppliers, e.g. of displays, depending on demand and also specs may vary in small tolerances depending on supplier.

So are u sure that touch issue also few time is normale and software and not hardware?

It's down to smaller bezels (most of it?). Especially if you aren't using a case. You can actually replicate that by touching the screen deliberately in addition to your main touch point. If you touch it in a specific time/area before your main input and keep touching it, that secondary input will be misinterpreted or won't be registered at all, on any iPhone.

Like if you are on the homescreen, if you keep your left thumb on bottom left corner (close to where phone icon is usually docked) - swiping with the other finger will be unresponsive by design.

EDIT: Just tried this on Android (A54) and same story. If your "accidental" input is in a specific area and it remains in contact in addition to your main input, screen can appear to be unresponsive and ignores it completely.

So I guess "you are holding it wrong" is becoming relevant again LOL

Software could remedy this and potentially fix it, but I do not think at all it is masking a hardware problem. Though when you are aware of what actually causes it, this by itself is almost a fix as you adjust. I used to do accidental touches when playing games in horizontal mode on this phone all the time when I first got it. Not as much anymore

So I picked up a hydrogel/TPU screen protector instead of tempered glass and so far its working fine and indistinguishable from no screen protector at least with regards to touch sensitivity. I had tried the Torres tempered glass protector before going this route and it also had the same sensitivity issue. I'm guessing this is because hydrogel is 1/5 the thickness of tempered glass

Hydrogel has its own downsides as these are harder to install (though I got mine perfect on the 2nd try), probably won't last as long as tempered glass, and does give the screen a little bit of a plastic feel but at least its protected for now until/if Apple gets its **** together, and it was cheaper than tempered glass and came with 3

For those interested I went with this one

First try at installation when I pulled the backing off I pressed it down before the squeegee step which was the wrong thing to do, its designed to float just above the phone until you do the first swipe to get it adhered, 2nd time was perfect install after pushing out some tiny peripheral bubbles. Definitely make sure you watch the install video before you do it or it will come out poorly
Any update on how the hydrogel protector is doing?

Also does it covers the camera?

Thanks

Missed touches now and then. Scrolling sometimes skips and not smooth. While typing, it will miss a key stroke from time to time. Still indexing since it is brand new, one day old.

Submitted feedback to Apple.

Does it miss touches with any amount of force? Or only when tapping lightly?

Took off my dbrand screen protectors since I was having a lot more issues with touch and replaced it with an ESR screen protector and now things are working normally at this point. Will give it more time to make sure.
