I took mine back for touch issues and had a refund on 26th. Decided to try again and had another one delivered today, same date, October 2024. So far seems to have no issues like the other one had. Will give it a few days to see how it goes but it's strange.

Both October 2024 pro max's, first one was really bad with upper left & right touch, this one seems ok.

Could this really be software/firmware issue?

I had noticed similar behavior on my girlfriend’s 16 Pro which also has Belkin screen protector installed. It felt more like a software bug than lack of response. Happens occasionally, not too often.

Overall, 16 series is very bugged and overrated. Camera is slower than my old 11 Pro, uses tons of processing on portraits, image in preview looks better than what it saves into Photos app. It always ruins night shots with excessive NR (there is a second when you view image after taking and just a second later NR is added and photo is ruined). Kinda reminds me my old Galaxy S10+ which I sold

I like Apple. I have a MacBook Air M1, an iPad Air 5th Generation, and an iPhone 16 pro Max. If the (albeit minor) touch problems are not solved with software, and since I am not an "advanced" user with the cameras, next year I will wait to see how the 17 Air goes (What interests me is that it has 120 Hz) or the 17 Plus (120 Hz), and I will sell the 16 Pro Max, but I will do it about 3 or 4 months after the launch to see all the reviews and not make the same mistake as now, buying it in pre-sale, without knowing the possible failures in the device.

I wrote yesterday to Mike Fenger (Apple Vice President Worldwide Sales), almost like a joke, without any hope. I described the whole problem and sent him the link of this thread in MacRumors. An assistant answered me today. Then she call me on the phone (I'm from Chile, there is no Apple Store here, only official distributors). We scheduled a meeting with the Cupertino technical team for Friday by FaceTime I guess, they haven't told me yet. He asked me for authorization to inform the details to the executive team, because according to what she tells me, she require that any problem be communicated, both the origin and the result of the efforts, Because it is of first interest for them. I'll tell you how Friday goes...

I am honestly sure, almost 100% that the technical team of Cupertino, knows about this issue, it is impossible that they have not identified it, it is obvious that they want to minimize it, no one wants bad publicity.

For me about once or twice a day when I wake the screen notice the screen misses touches. If I try to scroll on websites, messages etc. the touch input will stutter like 15FPS. It's not the phone but the touch panel that's stuttering. If I lock and unlock the screen its fixed also if I let the screen start to dim and wake it up its fine. Cleary something is not kicking in with the touch panel at times when the phone is unlocked. I'm certain its software since it is fine 99% of the time and is resolved by locking and unlocking the phone. It's annoying at times but I'm not going through the trouble to swap the phone or restore it etc.

Do you use screen protector?

I have a rather unusual problem with the sensor, sometimes during a normal touch, the phone responds with a double quick touch. This happens very rarely, but the very presence of such a phenomenon is very alarming to me.

The screen protector is of high quality, so I'm sure it's not the problem.

What screen protector do you use?

Well, guys, I think that it is, what it is... the problem is minor in my case. Since I have OCD with this kind of thing, I see it more and suffer more. Some, like my children and my wife, don't notice it. Changing the phone or screen has not solved the problem for most and I suspect that it is the updates that have been improving the problem little by little, and not the change of the phone. I'll be there until the next one comes out, if it improves with future updates, wonderful. If not, I just have to use it like this (I can do it almost without problems) and wait to see what the tide brings in September. Nothing happens.

Happy new year for everyone!

Nice words! Thank I for your support!

Had my new 16 pro max since Sunday, so a few days now and I have to say the difference between this one and the first one I had is night and day.

Touch has been fine on this around all the edges. No keyboard issues with typing at all. It has the same sensitivity as my 13 pro max which I have now sold as the 16 has been solid.

I'm using a JETech screen protector. What I can say is that I used the same screen protector on my 13 and when I removed that one you could definitely see that the protector for the 16 is thicker than the one on the 13.

Super. Your date battery build?

Wow I thought I didn’t have touch issues. But playing Balatro + really showed them to you. It doesn’t register my input when selecting cards, wanting to sort them differently, selecting options from menu, etc. this doesn’t happen at all in my iPad Pro M2 but appears in every game session in my iPhone, making it very frustrating to play. Anyone else discovered the issue like this? This is a release day phone.

I took out the screen protector and it actually works much better. What is logical for this case (although the other iPhones always had a protector they never had touch problems) but I don't like having it without protection... I'm going crazy 😜. I hope I have some solution on Friday with the technical team... although the only solution would be to change it and be lucky enough to receive one in good condition...

Yes, it's that kind of situation that happens to us. Welcome to the team 😭
