The typing delay on my 16 Plus continues to baffle me, not sure if it's touch sensitivity issues from the Flolab screen protector but I'm making so many typos and sometimes I am typing and it freezes for a second then the text rapidly appears like if it was chugging trying to keep up with my typing, so unpolished. I'm on 18.3 RC and still with same issue unfortunately.
If I disable both keyboard’s haptic and sound feedback those lags go away, I think this is iOS issue since iOS 16.

Ahhh okay if you don't use a screen protector you cannot have the light tap problems with the sensitivity.

It seems like, the new 16 Pro / Pro Max displays have a problem with the screen protectors. The previous iPhones did not have this problem no matter which protector you using.

I'm really pissed because for now I found a panel with an acceptable uniform but this touch issues driving me nuts ... :(
Still have my old 15 Pro Max as backup ...
Has anyone with this issue tried my suggestion of placing the phone on a table/desk so that you’re not actually holding it, and then tapping the screen to see if the issue is still there?
I’m curious if fully removing hands from the equation has an effect or not

Those of you with touchscreen issues that have gone through three versions now of 18, if the issue still persists then how come you guys don’t do a request for an express replacement for the phone? Looks like software is not fixing anything. At this point I would replace the iPhone.

Just for science, I found a really thick, off-brand tempered glass screen protector that I bought for a camera in my office and slapped it on my phone temporarily. I tried my instagram test again, opening photos and videos and hitting the back button in the upper left. This time I did 100 cycles of open and back…
Still 0 missed touches.
So I’m really not sure if the screen protectors are truly the root cause of the problem

@ToddH

Replacing the iPhone changes nothing.
I had 3 devices and all were the same … 😳
Well, you could have a bad batch from the factory if iyou got them on lunch day. You won’t know until you try. I just recently had my 16 Pro Max replaced due to proraw and camera focus problems. The replacement seems flawless and matches my other 16 Pro Max, which never had an issue to begin with.

No all devices were October or November build. I don’t think it is a hardware issue. It will be a mass for apple …

I used my 16 Pro Max for two weeks without a screen protector. I didn’t notice any touch issues (it didn’t get scratched either, not even a tiny scratch). Today, I installed a Spigen screen protector—it fits perfectly, but unfortunately, there’s a noticeable difference in touch sensitivity in some instances, mainly when typing on the keyboard. I didn’t have this issue with my 13 Pro Max using the same protector. The tempered glass protector definitely reduces sensitivity more than on previous iPhone models. Without screen protector, I have no problems.

How's the touch screen on 18.3? Any improvement?

UPDATE: iOS 18.3

Not really, a little bit. The system feels more fluid and the sensitivy is only a little bit better. But the problem is the screen protector. Maybe there are new screen protectors out, they will work with the new screens. I don't know ...

What I know is that a lot of people have used something called the "Hydrogel" in place of tempered glass and are very happy with it. From what I understand hyrogel is basically a transparent thin plastic film like skins available for covering the body of the phone/laptop which is way thinner than these glass protectors and I still haven't read a single complaint after using that. Though I personally have not tested it.

I don't know what to think about this Hydro gel covers. I'm using tempered glasses since years, never had a problem and now the 16 Pro Max have a problem with it? This is not right ...

Have anyone tried the Belkin Ultra Glass 2 for the 16 Pro Max? Is the sensitivity better here?
