I have a iPhone 5 but will sell on eBay. :p

You'll probably get around $300-$325 but you will pay 10% eBay fee ($30-$32), Paypal fee ($~10), shipping and insurance ($20-$25). So you will end up $240-$265 - your time packing and shipping + headache/risk through eBay. Maybe you just take $205 credit from Apple store and hand the phone to them.

So these carrier buy backs is just in bill credit etc?? I would rather hve cash to pay off my phone.

What about places like best buy, apple etc? Can you pre-order a phone without paying and then show up to pick it up and trade in your old device first?

Except T-Mobile has really been quiet about how and when they will take pre-orders and be able to process trade-in offers.

It is very frustrating they are waiting until the last seconds to explain the process.

This. I'm eager to switch but I wish this was clearer. The TMO site says the matching starts on 9/17 so I assume I can't order the phone for trade in until then? I'm not sure.

I wish they would match the Amazon offer of $400!

UPDATE: I just checked my trade in value at TMO again and it's $351 for 64gb silver 5S. Was $150 the other day so it looks like they've updated their database. More than AT&T's $300 so I'm happy with that. Still wish they would match the Amazon price :)

I went with the Amazon trade-in because the price was so much better than elsewhere, but the status has been in "Processing..." for a few days now. :(

I did notice their trade-in price for an unlocked iPhone 5 64GB is $100 less today than it was last Thursday.

Amazon price has changed as of Keynote day. My iPhone 5 is used to be $235 2 days before, now it's $202. Apple store = $205.

I've never used Apple's Trade-in program, but the cost is not to bad.

It would be better if Apple 'price matched' for trade-ins the same some companies would price match buying products.

I've had good luck with craigslist in the past. Sold a couple of 3GS, a 4, a 4S, and a 5. Got $475 for the 5 (32GB) last October.

Yeah, eBay fees are ridiculous. The last time I sold my 5 on craigslist, I just had the guy meet me inside an AT&T store. It's way safer than just a parking lot.

T-Mobile offer

I went into the store today to get info on prices for deposit and such and tmobile offered me 332$ for my ip5S 16GB Gold....I thought that was interesting because its more then anywhere else offered me. I normally sell mine on ebay but with fee's from ebay/paypal and such i think ill just trade mine in because its cash in my hand right then and there...

"""Just checked amazon and was offered $251.15"""

Verizon trade in prices seem better

I just called two local stores...the first store manager had no idea about the promotion and was trying to solve my question with information about their "normal" trade-in program. The second store I called tried to do the same, but I explained that AT&T just anounced today this new thing and all the carriers are doing it, etc...and she found an INTERNAL MEMO that explained minimum $200 for 4, 4s, 5, 5c and $300 for 5s. They have to be in good working condition she said, so nothing broken basically.

More importantly, she said "direct fullfillment" orders - aka online orders - are STILL ELIGIBLE for promotion. So stay up late and order at midnight! She explained that the memo said you can order online and pay the full price you would normally without the promotion, and then once you got your new iphone 6, you would trade in your old device in store and get an AT&T gift card. She said that I could use the gift card toward my bill, but I may have to buy an accessory in-store to do that?!?!

I'm very happy about this because I wanted to preorder at midnight to have it arrive on the 19th but still take advantage of the promotion!

Okay, once an additional 50 million iPhone 4S and 5 are available on the used market by the end of this quarter, what happens to the low end android market? Is even 50 million too small a number? Or will this really ding the guys out there trying to sell the $200 handsets?

I've got a 5 with a busted power button that might need a home come October. I wonder what it will go for on Ebay.

I had a busted home button. I brought it into the apple store and they gave me a new (refurbished) phone right on the spot.

I'm grandfathered into the unlimited data plan with Verizon. I'm planning to buy an iPhone 6 for full price in order to keep it. If I do the $200 trade-in program for an old 4S that I have, does anyone know if that will jeopardize my grandfathered status?

Best place to trade in AT&T 8GB iPhone 4? I've been waiting for 4.7" screen this whole time.

I want to pre-order the iPhone 6 during trade in if possible.

any idea if we have to preorder thru ATT to take advgt of the trade in? seems to be independent. would rather order thru apple and trade in at att. the salesman told me they would evaluate it and send a box for me to send it in. Not sure if this is the same with the promo coming out tom

How did you check your trade in value at TMO, online or in store? I don't see in their website how I can get a quote without buying a phone first #

The iPhone 5 is the same size as the iPhone 5S and 5C that it is touching. Perspective isn't that extreme at the distance of the width of the iPhone 5.

----------

4/4S doesn't have that ratio screen, I think they were trying to pass it off as a 4/4S, and just shank a 5.

Bad render, smaller picture with ****** perspective. Not that big of deal.

If I do a trade-in on the Apple Store online, I don't have to do it at the same time as I purchase the 6, do I? I can still do it later?

Why is Gazelle always mentioned? They are the worse company to do business with. They pay you less then sell the same iPhone for $150-$200 more on eBay.

Hmm, should I try to get my 5 replaced just a few weeks before I ebay it? That would be pretty cheeky.
The power button slowly failed and it still works if I press it enough. That said, if they investigate my phone they will note that I've opened it and replaced the battery. So not only is my phone nearly two years old, but I've violated the warranty on it.

I am wondering how long they will offer these trade-in deals. Has anyone seen a "valid thru" date, specifically for AT&T?

Unlocked Verizon

On the Amazon site, unlocked phones seem to be far more valuable. Is it possible to unlock a Verizon phone cos I was under the impression that they did not use a SIM card?
