I've said it before, and I'll say it now. NO MORE IMMIGRATION FOR 10 YEARS. Shut it down. Lets catch our breath. Let's through out those who don't belong here and produce NOTHING for the country.

Better idea: let's deport any lazy, unproductive Americans, even if born here, and replace them with hardworking immigrants who appreciate the opportunity. We don't need people who don't apply themselves in school, are unwilling or unable to train in useful skills, or expect to be handed good-paying but low-skilled "jobs" just because they are born here. There are plenty of people outside the USA who have developed the necessary skills to drive economic growth, and would love to apply them here.

Sounds difficult. Let's start with the ILLEGALS. Then we can look at your plan.

The salary is never the biggest benefit to the companies who bring in foreign workers, the companies do need to spend a lot of extra money on these foreign workers -- the visa application, relocation and green card application, etc. The biggest benefit the companies enjoy from the foreign workers were their willingness to hard work, voluntarily.

No. The Visa/Green Card application pales in comparison to the year over year savings that companies gain from employing foreign workers. And lol. Paying relocation? For H1B Visa? Even if they did (which they don't) it would be to the tune of $5,000 - $10,000. Again, chump change compared to employing a US citizen.

This is absolute nonsense. You should be embarrassed. We should deport people like you instead.

Interesting, what's your thought of Americans on welfare then? Do they get a pass?

We are also for national security and America first, at least I would like to think so.I think most GOP now is big government establishment types.

America first? Yeah.... come back to me when we stop meddling in other country's affairs, nation building and planting flags... er bases all over the world.

The disgraceful fact of the matter is that it took Donald Trump to clamp down on the H1-B.

Where the **** was Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Tom Perez, Nancy Pelosi, or Chuck Schumer when they could've done something about it? Too busy trying to fast track TPP, that's where.

Why only list Democrats? Where was Bush, McConnell, Ryan, etc.?

Very Bad for the Tech Industry. Most of the Best Talent is overseas, They are way more hungry than these lazy american millennials that just want high pay for just showing up.

You can look at hollywood, most of the actors are British and Australian, Most American Actors don't want to put in any work
Lol, theater is what you are referencing when calling Americans lazy?

We want high pay because the cost of living is insane. But I guess it's easier to blame the workers and not the root of the problem.

Just curious are you H1-B employed? If so what nationality are you?

This mainly affects consultancy companies such as Tata Consultancy Services, KPMG, Cap Gemini, Accenture, Togeti, CGI Group, Booz Allen Hamilton, et al. This barely affects companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft, IBM, etc. The aforementioned companies at the beginning of this post are known to rally up third-world engineers and bring them here, and pay them a pittance sum of around 60-80K a year while requiring them to live in a metropolis that requires a higher figure to achieve some semblance of comfortable living in accordance with the local CoL (Cost of Living) structure.

Large companies will sometimes ask consultancy groups to find them suitable candidates. They'll claim they can't find one here and go to a third-world archive to bring some poor schmuck over and pocket a greater amount per successful hire. Companies will sometimes or often look the other way, because at the end of the day, the issue of immigration and the costs involve are far less than paying the same American (Or British or whatever) candidate the expected mid 100s six figure salary.

Hear, hear. You can start with the coal miners who refuse to join the 21st century.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. "Creating" jobs for our citizens is a positive thing... but restricting foreign workers from working in the US is not. There are far better ways to create jobs. Almost every industry you can think of has benefitted from foreign workers. From agriculture to Silicon Valley.

Not to mention that this just may force companies to increase outsourcing more work which this would not affect.

The U.S. had a great advantage drawing the best and brightest here to work.

It's going to hurt this nation in the long run to turn away this talent.

But short-sightedness is the hallmark of the trump administration ... and his supporters.

The best and brightest can still come in, they are restricting the low wage jobs replacing American workers.

Nobody is turning away talents. The number of talentless people come in H1b visa will surprise you. They create fake resumes and lots of other gimmicks (long list of things..) to get jobs.

They were happy to import people from foreign lands, the more foreign the better, who had no real education in the values of our western civilization. By uncritically voting for them, they would aid the agenda of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Tom Perez, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer to destroy that same western civilization. Not sure, though, what they thought would come in its place.

Is this a good thing or very controversial like everything Trump does... according to UK media?

Interesting, what's your thought of Americans on welfare then? Do they get a pass?

A lot of vets who served in Afghanistan are on welfare because their injuries and/or trauma suffered make it hard for them to secure any sort of meaningful employment.

Quote: In a letter penned by Apple and a collection of various tech companies back in February, the group said that it is "critical" that the U.S. continues to attract intelligent workers from around the world, while telling the Trump administration that they are available as a resource "to help achieve immigration policies that both support the work of American businesses and reflect American values."

So is Apple et al asserting that American workers are all (overpaid) dummies, and that the above companies need these so called intelligent workers from around the world, to survive?

I'm not buying it. I believe that save for a few exceptions, in the overwhelming majority of cases, the motive is cheap labor.

Yup. A friend of mine at a large company had an issue where they were doing interviews and the person who showed up after they hired them on was totally different than who was interviewed.

People who don't work in technology don't really understand any of this. They think people coming over on H1B visas are like genius mathematicians or something but the vast majority are like run of the mill JavaScript devs.

But hey keep telling yourself that this is bad for the US. Meanwhile Americans are addicted to opioids and can't get into masters or PHD programs.

That's actually a great idea. If the goal is ruthless "make your country great again" then anyone unproductive should leave, and skilled immigrants let in. It makes sense. There would be *much* less need for social care, and smart people are more likely to be entrepreneurial, altruistic.

Some GOP person recently said the poor don't deserve to be fed too. So even the US government has this idea. Let's hope it gets developed further.

Nope, if the goal is to reduce government spending, get employment to 100%, increase the GDP, then it's absolutely perfect of an idea. That would truly make America great again. Don't you think?

Nope. It's stupid. I'm more productive Han you are, for example, so now I get to make sure you're deported? Where do you go? The moon?

Just stop with these really bad comments.

You're overthinking it. If you're not actually contributing to the country then what is your purpose to the country? All you need to do to have your citizenship revoked (that's all, rather than being deported to a specified country) is to just not contribute.

The alternative, I guess, could be the complete removal of the welfare state - and even denied emergency medical treatment. That way those non-contributors would have minimal effect on the budget. The process is simple; don't contribute, have your citizenship revoked, give them a deadline to get out of the country. They'd be free to join another country that has a welfare state as a refugee. Leaving more room for the contributors.

Did you not see what that GOP chap said, quoting the bible, that the poor shouldn't be given food?

Juvenile. What is contributing? Is working at McDonald's contributing? What about a teacher? How about somebody working at a non-profit to aid the homeless?

It's clear you haven't put much thought into this. Lol.

No and I don't care

Better yet - why dont those "highly talented" immigrants make their OWN country better instead of coming here? Ya know, overthrow their oppressive regime. Like we did in the USA. Oh wait.... they are talented but have NO balls and are sissies so they wont do that. nevermind.

There is some truth to that statement. If you take all the good people out of a country, what does that leave you left with? This applies to immigrants as well. We should be providing education and aid.
